I was just thinking, How cool would it be if we had power lines? For aesthetic purposes of course. It would be a nice small touch to make the world feel more realistic and lived in.

chthonic got a reaction from MrDeliberto in How are you supposed to build up a stockpile for Winter?
    PROBLEM: no food in winter
    SOLUTIONS: multiple
    DIFFICULTY: from easy to hard

SOLUTION 1: Dig for worms with a trowel, stockpile them for winter. Difficulty: easy.

SOLUTION 2: Use foraging to find non-perishables. Difficulty: medium

SOLUTION 3: Go loot the town ffs. There's enough food there to survive winter, unless you're surviving your third year. Difficulty: easy
SOLUTION 4: Find a generator, some gas and connect it to your house. Start farming, stockpile your food in a fridge. Difficulty: hard

SOLUTION 5: Use the game's food canning system. You need a lid, a jar, vinegar, salt and sugar. This method actually doesn't work, since those items hardly spawn LOL. Difficulty: close to impossible

For all those that want NPCs so much, here's my friendly piece of advice: forget this game.
NPCs won't be around in the next year or two or three or ever. Forget the game and play something else.
It feels way better when you actually do that, believe me. I used to read the damn mondoids every week just to find the "we added a new hair gel item that doesn't do anything but here you go. That's all for this mondoid, bye". Reading this crap every week and growing more and more annoyed is the worst.
    Forget. Let go.

I was reading at a thread about generators the other day and as I though as was said in the OP of that thread that generators doesn't seem to be worth the effort of using atm. I started thinking about how it would probably be in realistic zombie apocalypse for the average Joe and the reason he/she would want to get a generator working. Alright some might think of maintaining their food fresh, some of warming themselves, but for a lot of people having electricity in ones home would be just a huge moral boost, and it would probably be because of them being able to see notably better at nights and maybe even having the possibility to read. Both of those things as it stands are not a problem for the player, and I think it would be nice to have another reward for getting a generator working and maybe not that hard to implement. And so, I suggest making nights darker and  only being able to read at a determined light level.
Also, another plus of making nights darker would be that a lamp on a pillar, flashlights, candles, and other light sources would be a lot more useful, as would also be the trait  Cat's Eyes.

Well thats about it, I just thought I could make a thread myself as I've been reading this forum almost every day for about a year and never made one or even posted a comment.

Also, THANKS to the developers and the people helping them at this forum for the great work.
It's an incredible game the one you've got here.

It’s always a bit of a weird one when we release a new build publicly of a Monday. It’s a Dulldoid for our wonderful IWBUMS-ers who’ve been there, done that, reported the bug and ripped their t-shirt into bandages.

But then again, it’s a resounding Fundoid for those who don’t partake in our public beta – and those who boot up Steam to see an exciting progress bar next to the words Project Zomboid. Just imagine that joy for a second…

Which is all as much to say, that on this day Build 31 came out to play.

You’ll be able to find the full changelist here!

News on Build 32 will be fermenting throughout the week, and will no doubt be mulled over next Monday. Meanwhile we’ve had really good progress on NPCs this week (but will hold back details so we don’t re-engage the hype machine when there could still be bumps in the road), meanwhile Turbo has been given a first test radio station script for integration while Will is filling out all his existing spreadsheets to fill the now wider daily schedules. The foundations of the Louisville map, meanwhile, continue to spill out of RingoD and Binky’s paws in preparation for Mash’s building deployment.

It’s all go basically. Fun times are ahead. And welcome aboard if you bought the game over our Steam Sale weekend! Good to have you with us. Try the bleach!

Hay dudes I'm Lucius, thought of some suggestions these days n managed to show 'em by painting, come take a look.  First let's look at this picture:     I found that the total town area( light green part ) of PZ game-playing map is less than 15% ( much less perhaps? ), But total area of forest n field ( red part ) reaches 85% already. ( Sorry I never play any mod map before, but expect them. )      You might go food-searching in the forest or do fishing by lakes when you're in lack of food for a long gameplaying time, or get a migration between towns if u don't stay at the same living base for long.     Whatever, for different seasons, weather n areas, u could get unavoidable damage, such as insect bites n snake bites that never added to PZ in the past, so I suggest that add more injured ways and treatments.

    ·Harm From Insects

    Mosquito Bites

I'm not living in Kentucky, so I don't know ecological environment n weather of it well.    As we all know, mosquito live near by somewhere wet n warm, especially close to the water, undisputablely.Lots of forest promote a huge transpiration that leads to rain and wet air, then tons of mosquitoes breed.     You might not go into forest or field, but mosquitoes can be everywhere, so u may get bitten by them more or less.

    Compound menthol ointment

So.. you need some pruritus relief.  (Hay I swear that is not Mentholatum!  )

    Insect Repellent

Or a little bottle of insect repellent?
Poisonous Insect Bites       With more pruritus than mosquito bites,u might get poisoning in any levels, then we need more treatment, poison suction, wound disinfection, bandaging and take a alexipharmic pill.    Alexipharmic of insect poison   ·Harm From Snakes Snakes live everywhere rght?  Innocua Bites      Not easy to fatal, just need a disinfevction and a bandage.  Poisonous Snake Bites      Can be deadly anytime, need to stop vonem from spreading ( Medical rubber tube is the best choice.) and do a suction at once, then take antiophidica, n serum-injection if necessary.  Medical rubber tube Antiophidica Injector The snake serum Injector with snake serum    (No doubt that injector will be added right?  )   ·Excessive Bleeding      I though u might stop bleeding but lost too much blood, then get anemia, so my point is that it can't be easy-recovered only by eating n rest much right?     Well... we need a blood injection. Bloodbag  (could be different types, A B O AB huh-un...  )  Infusion tube       And different blood-type choice could be a good addition.        Well I did this extra 'cause I'm a blunt-player, u know so.   Linctus       ·More?      Yah yah there are more nice suggestions from me but... I'm just too lazy to give more ya know.      Umm... I know these make game more diffcult, but that's all I wanna suggest and we like challenges right?     And how do you guys think?

chthonic reacted to jefferyharrell in Leveling Carpentry seems crazy
Well, I think there's a legitimate discussion to be had about whether that's actually a kink. One point of view is that you're not supposed to be able to do carpentry unless you create a carpenter character. You can try, and if you work very very hard you can get there, but it's deliberately difficult. You'll have to put in a plausible amount of practice. I know I couldn't build a wooden crate if you gave me an axe, a saw, a hammer and a box of nails. There's no way. It'd take me a week to figure out how to consistently get tree pieces cut into usable lumber, at best. So in that sense, the game is already taking it very easy on you.

Like I said, it's a point of view. And that point of view says if you want to do carpentry, roll up a carpenter. Otherwise, do other things.

Found a few player notes tho and left a few of my own. Hint: twiggy's, west point school
A good idea would be to start a legacy save topic with hard presets.

Hey guys, so here it is, Bedford Falls Version 2!

    Whats New?
Well, lots of buildings bugs have been fixed, a lot of duplicated buildings have been swapped out for previously unused ones, a large military area and water treatment facility has been added to the north of Bedford Falls, the town itself has been placed in its final (until the vanilla map expands this far) place and just needs a bit more love to join it up with the vanilla map properly. Bedford Falls is now also its own spawn location alongside West Point and Muldraugh (it no longer replaces Muldraugh as a spawn) and also has a variety of random spawn locations.
Zombie numbers have also been significantly increased across Bedford Falls.

There may still be some buildings with bugged walls etc.

Unzip the file into your "Project Zomboid" install folder, overwriting all files etc as you go.
Load the game up and select your starting location. You can now choose between Muldraugh, West Point and Bedford Falls. Bedford Falls also includes random spawn points now too.

Report any/all bugs in this thread. Use the pic above to note down the Cell the bug appears in, and provide a picture of the problem area if possible. I will be going through all the lots/world and fixing all these bugs for the Final release of Bedford Falls.

How about your character decides to commit suicide? The NPC AI takes over you character and commits suicide by burning or shooting him/herself, running into a horde of zombies, drinking bleach, cutting through the veins, jumping from a great heigt and so on.

I actually like this idea very much if it is hard enough to trigger the mechanic.

This is THE mod for singleplayer. Actually brings some "endgame content" to pz.

The mod is still up-to-date, although the gift box spawns as "spiffo" with the spiffo icon.

Can anyone fix this? I wasn't able to figure out how to do it =(

PS. Also It seems to me this mod lowers the spawn rate of spiffo aka giftbox. I was able to find only one after having looted half of Westpoint.

With all the major difficulty shakeup going on, as well as some people's expectation to be able to survive Survival, how about this?
Instead of all these game modes ballooning out the main title screen, how about we have:
    START GAME, STORY, MULTIPLAYER
and that's IT... (story obviously added when Bob/Kate reintroduced)
then when you click START GAME, it pops up a menu that has options, defaults on beginner, and each has some text accompanying it (not exact text of course ):
BEGINNER - If you're a new player, start here. Trust us, this game is brutal. Don't get cocky. Find your feet here or stress and humiliation will ensue. Etc.
SANDBOX - For the intermediate player. Choose from presets, or customize every aspect of your game to your skill level or playing preferences. Etc.
SURVIVAL - The true, brutal and bloodthirsty Zomboid survival challenge. It takes no prisoners, so don't expect to survive for long. How many days can you last?
LAST STAND - Blah last stand blah. Quick dose of BAM zombies everywhere eek.
They are ordered (except last stand) as such as a natural progression for players as their skills improve, and Survival is sufficiently put on a 'pro' pedestal to make failure at it not seem like failure of the game. Sandbox could default to a preset that's halfway between beginner and survival (while offering multiple presets for varying levels of skill / preferences) and have more information to convey their intent and difficulty. Survival is less stigmatized for being silly hard because its blatantly obvious that's what it is. people are less likely to click it without being aware of exactly what its point is or what pain they are potentially unleashing on themselves.
We then make the SURVIVAL survival time on death specifically say 'ON SURVIVAL MODE' to make it clear (perhaps adding a check for expected checksums to ascertain if the files have been modded, and reporting that. As such giving us back our survival time competition that was lost as the game's difficulty waned. Also we make survival mode force a new game world on each new game. Each game starts at day dot, and you can't stack multiple characters on a single world. It's a true competitive game mode again, as it's always an equal footing start point.
    Thoughts?
