  1. The game is lacking in actual defense. Not an opinion it's really a fact at this point. You can make a barbed fence but that's really it. And what good is a barbed fence to zombies... So my idea is: - Buildable Barbed Wire barrier - Like you see the military use - But it's the same as barbed fence? - No due to the fact that a wire roll would efficiently slow them down and get them caught in the tangled mess of wire (killing them in game of course, but takes damage upon kills) - Palisades (wood spikes if you don't know what it is) - Sharpened wooden logs jutting out of the ground pointed in any direction to put outside your walls - Zombie runs/walks into it, they take damage potentially killing them and damaging the spike - Bear Traps - Snares a zombies leg locking them in place - Damaging the leg, potentially making them lose said leg, and upon losing said leg they turn into a crawler - Spear Traps - Theres a mod for this one already but wanted to put it out there - just go to the workshop and search "spear trap" - Spiked Barricade - You build an object like a barrel with sharpened spears in it - You place spear barrel thing down - Zombie walks into sharp bits of the barrel/object - Zombie's aren't smart so impales head and or body Killing or sticking it in place - Shotgun trap - You place a tripwire tied to a shotgun, simple as that - Something trips said wire, and boom off with their legs - Tin Can Trip wire - More for the nomads out there - Set it up quick and easy around your tent area - When something hits it, it makes a RINGaDINGaLING sound (Fun Fact: Cans make that EXACT sound) - Log Fall - Tie a log or spiked log on two ropes - Tie said ropes to a tree or roof - Hoist that heavy sucker up there and tie it back to get some momentum - Set up a tripwire - When something hits tripwire the log falls killing whatever it hits - Molotov trap - I don't know how you would realistically set this one up but it came into mind while typing this up so here you go - Grenade Traps - You take a grenade OR a jar of gunpowder and pipe bomb or whatever - You place a tripwire - Wire gets hit and boom goes the target - Optionally place under a floor board - Floor board foot trap - This one is an oldddd time trap used by soldiers (real life guys) - You take a bullet - You place it under a floor board or in a hole in the ground - You set up a rock or something hard to activate the round underneath the round (round means bullet) - Something steps on the trap, and blasts into their foot - Destroys or disables a zombies leg, making a crawler - Same goes for players on most of these traps I would do these myself in a mod, but let's face it I am not smart enough to mod.
  2. If they add in a settlement mode, they could keep kids in the settlement, go Fallout's way and make them immortal And do like a "This survivor and this survivor had a kid together" then you'd see a kid walking around your settlement safe from harm Then in like a few weeks or something completely unrealistic in timing they'd pop and turn into an adult Easy peasy but not the best fix for it so probably not usable in the slightest
  3. I have been into this game for years now. I adore PZ I really do, but one thing that kills a lot of the base building for me is the inability to knock down certain walls because they house the light switch. And if you break that wall you get a floating light switch, break the switch you now lose that light. So I suggest a system where you can - Build a new light switch maybe requiring electrical 3 to 5 at most - You build a light switch pretty cheap - Then use the place ability to mount it to your wall - See the actual lights on the roof of rooms, So that we can also move those around as we see fit. - And maybe the ability through a button to toggle those on or off so we don't have to always see them - Make the lights see through like so it won't block the players view indoors - And where lights aren't hard cut from room to room (This would probably require an entire overhaul of the games lighting system, if not feasible I get it) - Different bulb types are not a requirement or a suggestion here, I am fine with light bulb going into a tube light on the roof - Don't really need a super complex system, just needs to be able to be seen and the switch moved around at the least The Because: As it stands right now the lighting in PZ is terrible in my opinion, always has been really. Again, my opinion and a few others I've talked to (more like ranted to but whatever right). You're forced to keep ugly walls in bases that you don't love (the wall not the base)
  4. Oh I was just going to delete it because I couldnt figure out how to make that first post NOT a wall of text sorry
  5. Okay thank you, im gonna delete this topic but thank you
  6. I cant figure out how to not make it a wall of text, i tried to edit it to where it wasnt so stupidly long but cant figure it out.....
  7. cant figure out how to delete the topic :l
  8. I'm making my house in building maker. There are these big windows that resemble my house windows. Thing is when I post them into the building you can't see through them. It's like its on the outside and inside layer but isn't making the middle layer see through-able. Example:
  9. The only thing I think to this, is one nail to the foot isn't going to down a zombie. It'd just keep walking, possibly dragging that foot. But a single nail wouldn't destroy it's foot. I like the idea of being able to step onto a nail and being in pain as a human. As for trip wires and such, that'd be awesome. And I think you should be able to use barbed wire for a trip wire to shred the legs.
  10. I like this idea, only thing I wanna say is how in 28 Days Later, in the picture he uses laundry baskets. Those wouldn't catch shit. Maybe just a few drops...
  11. I used the map that flashfire made for my map. I replaced the one I had and it still only spawn zombies in the buildings
  12. Wait it has to be a bitmap? I was reading on this tutorial on here and it said to ALWAYS save your images a a .png... And how do you guys keep the resolution looking good while shrinking it to 1/10?
  13. The first colored in image, plain I know, but it is the original size. From there I go up to Image... > Resize Image and downsize it to 1/10th scale. Im using paint.net by the way
  14. To reduce the scale I simply go up to Image > resize Image (Using Paint.net by the way, new to it as well) And then I scale it to 1/10 of its original size
  15. And here we go, So I tested your idea/way. It didn't work. I painted it entirely white once, didn't work. Painted it in with white, grey, and light grey and still didn't work. Link to current zombie spawn map (pure white, but still putting here so you can see for yourself) https://www.dropbox.com/s/qzbhde4yyswoqu0/Haven_ZombieSpawnMap.png?dl=0 The original one https://www.dropbox.com/s/uvumbe31s5h7d5h/Haven_ZombieSpawnMap2.png?dl=0 Oh and this is what I found on these forums about the spawn map: "Draw a grey scale map on top of your png map, with white being lots of zombies and black being basically none. Then scale it to 1/10th of the size of the original. Eg. If your map is 900x900px, your zombie spawn map should be 90x90px. "
  16. Heres what I did. I took my original map with only roads and grass not vegetation. I blacked out all the grass, then filled in different areas with white. Resized the image from 2400 x 2400 to 240 x 240. And how exactly do the colors work? Like white is a lot I know, but the farther darker the color is, is it less zombies then?
  17. I have sat here for hours trying to figure this out. I can't work it out on how to do it. All I have heard is to draw a grayscale map of the original and scale it down. But then theres only two settings, White is a lot of zombies, and black is basically none. Is this really the only way to do it?
  18. I figured it out! I took my new copies of the maps I wanted it to look like. re did the new map > BMP to TMX > Drag cells into positions. And after I did that, it had all the objects in it already! Admin, delete this or keep it up so that any one else with this problem can see it?
  19. Okay first off, Im making a map I call Haven (for reference). I made this map, but turned out I hated the tree density. It looked ugly so I took the original map, edited it, took out some roads, etc. Then I went into the _veg map and made it look how I want it. But now if I load it into WorldEd, I won't have the buildings from the first map on the roads that still remain there... Is there any way to copy the cells with buildings to the new edited map?
  20. I have tried using the original Rules.txt and Blends.txt, but no matter what it ALWAYS says that there are unknown colors in my veg map. At the top of the list is the color of 0,138,255 which is water. I have made my own custom pallete so I couldn't screw the colors up. But it's still not working... Rules.txt file Im using - https://www.dropbox.com/s/54zranag0lu1cs5/Rules.txt?dl=0 Blends.txt file Im using - https://www.dropbox.com/s/6s2yy3lvnmaqkzk/Blends.txt?dl=0 To add to it: It says the location is 0,0 through 49,0 and yet I have gone in NUMEROUS times and put in the same blue water color there is over that line of numbers. The other color is the grass. Does the same thing as the water ^ Side notes from my progress: I replaced the water with the bright green grass (dense I think), now its only giving errors for the other grass. the medium grass...
  21. Okay so I had a server going. It was up and running and I had my friend on there. But before he joined he was having a connection failed issue, and now he cant join and it keeps saying connection failed. Ive had my brother log in and see if he can join too but same for him. Ive tried switching from them using my IPv4 to my local and vice versa. I have ports 16261 to 16270 open. I called my ISP and they told me they arent blocking any ports so they're clear. Im using hamachi as well. Please help me I cant figure out whats going wrong and its giving me a head ache.
  22. Hello, I'm new to modding Project Zomboid. Is there a way to make this cheaterman to where the profession has normaal exp lvls, no boost but has like 10 points to spend?
  23. Okay so I downloaded a few mods, and I can launch the game. But when I check mark the mods it shows ONLY the background image of the menu. And I cant click anything in game, I can only close the application. Then if I launch it after ward then It opens it and closes it after a few seconds. Oh and if I go into the mods folder and open the loaded.txt file and delete all the files on it, save it, open PZ, it'll launch. But if I activate the mods it repeats the same process. This is a mods problem right?
