    - Allow plumbing a non-moved sink before the water shuts off if there is a rain barrel above. The water is still infinite for plumbed sinks before the water shuts off.
    - Allow plumbing a sink to an empty rain barrel.

This thing seems to be having a very big problem; now you can't move any sinks or washing machines AT ALL; if you do it, they can't be plumbed back again (even if you placed it on the EXACT SAME SPOT AS BEFORE) and basically become useless. This is becoming quite a hurdle for base building, as I can no longer built my safehouse how I wanted. Especially since I play with the 6-12 months for shutoff.

Is there some place in the code where I can just turn it back to how it was? At least until a better solution is found, or this gets some kind of option for the Custom Sandbox.

EDIT: OK, I found a very dumb fix for this issue. All I had to do was build a rain barrel on the roof, plumb both sink and washing machine, remove the barrel, profit. They all got hooked to the water. Now, I get this won't work for a lot of places (some roofs can't be walked on, and all), but at least it fixed my issue of having a base with no water.

Atm it is not possible to plumb anything while the water is still "on".

What the hell, since when? I've been plumbing stuff for like 4 patches now. And why shouldn't be able to plumb a sink inside of one of my bases while the water still on? That's the whole freaking point of it. Without that, base-building is completely hobbled, unless I want to be depending on rainwater and heat.

Is there some way I can activate that again by fiddling with the code somewhere? Because otherwise, this completely ruins PZ for me...

  3. So, I'm rebuilding my base from last patch, and placed my washing machine on the EXACT SAME PLACE AS BEFORE, and I am holding a wrench. However, the plumb option does not show up; only the Turn On option complaining about its lack of water. Water hasn't shut down yet, and I am placing it in that tool shed at the corner of the Mul North Self-Storage (the one between the Big Warehouse and the Mechanic), so why can't I plumb it now? I thought only the Sinks had been modified in this patch. Did something else change?

EDIT: So, I made an experiment, thinking something might be wrong with the location I picked, went to the laundromat just south, picked up a washing machine (which was working fine before I did so) and put it back on the exact same spot it was.... Can't plumb it either, and now won't turn on. Clearly, this is an issue with the washing machines as a whole.

EDIT2: And now it seems I can't even plumb sinks either. Looks like Plumbing as a whole has bugged out.

To be sure, these are not closed top vanilla drums; these are (nebulous) open top drums I'm told existed somewhere where Smithing was a thing (?) or in mods. So don't go off raiding the Railyard for all the water containers ;)

That's OK (even if it doesn't make that much sense to me), I just wish we had some place to store gas without depending on Gas Cans.

    - Allow pouring water into metal drums.

Say, any chance we can have this for Gas as well? As of right now, we can store water pretty easily on water fountains and rain barrels, but we still gotta store gas by Gas Cans on shelves (which isn't very weight-efficient), so I'd really like to be able to store Gas on Metal Drums. Can we please have the metal drums for Gas?

I tried with a pre-existing sink and a sink I moved, and it worked.  The barrel must be directly above or within 1 square of the sink below.
Also, the barrel must be on the next level, not two or more levels above the sink.  If you don't have a wrench, the option should still be shown, but disabled.
Does that roof cover the entire room?  If not, it may not be considered "Inside", which will prevent the option being displayed.

OHhhh! That's it! INSIDE- The room has a full roof, but it does not have a full wall enclosure yet. So "technically", the room is not an "Interior" yet. I'll finish the rest of it and try if it works.

EDIT: Eyup! That worked like a charm. Just adding the wall frames was enough. Maybe that should be on a Wiki somewhere, since it's not very intuitive.

You should be able to plumb the sink once there is water in the barrel.

Can it be water I filled it with? Or does it only work with rainwater?

I've been trying to do the same thing, with a barrel, but does not work to me either.

EDIT: OK, I tested that. It still doesn't work.

You can see that the barrel has water, but the option still doesn't show up on it. Do I need something other than a wrench?

    - Don't display the option to plumb a sink if there isn't a water source overhead.
    - Allow plumbing a sink if the water source is directly overhead (as opposed to requiring a square adjacent to the square overhead).

    - Reverted the change that checked for tainted water in rain collectors connected to plumbed sinks. We intend to improve on this system at a later date.

I'm not quite sure, but it seems like this is not working. I am trying to plumb a sink to a rain collector placed directly above it, but I am not getting the prompt at all.

Whole thing is in a player-built building (but water has not been cut yet), I have a Wrench on me and the barrel is exactly on top of the sink. Is there something I am missing?

Not sure how long ago did you tried it, but that has changed since. Keep an eye on how things goes with Valve's Steam Deck as they are going full-blown Linux for gaming with KDE on it!

I spent a good chunk of 2020 (had to do something while stuck home, hah!) playing around with Debian Stable (Cinnamon). I'll say, the stuff I did with a VMM made feel LIKE A GOD- The emulation potential of the thing is nigh-infinite. I just need to take a course on the basics, but I am one of those tragically traditionalist dudes who needs an actual classroom to learn, not just a video.

And yes, the Steam Deck looks like the business (if Valve DOES actually support it after release...), and KDE Plasma is basically "Win10, but Good".

To add to that, you can also try Linux. I use both os on a daily basis for work and I have to say that, for games that run natively, linux is typically much more efficient in terms of memory usage. On my laptop, 16gb of ram, the difference in stuttering for memory hungry applications is incredible between Ubuntu and Win10. You might have worse results for games that are heavily GPU-limited if you have an nvidia card, but that is not the case for PZ. Forget about using Wine, in this case it's rather inefficient.

Oh, I tried. Believe me. Got Debian Stable on one of my partitions. However, every time I try to do anything on it, it simply doesn't work. Not because anything's wrong with it, but because I am no doubt doing something wrong- I feel like a grandma when using it. My plan was to set a Virtual Machine inside of it- Basically have a VHD of my current Win7 running there. But I never got it to work, and all websites I found about it were all either extremely unclear or extremely noob-unfriendly.

I'm no slouch with a PC, but I am tragically GUI-spoiled; to me Linux has always been the stuff of true-blooded Hackers, Coders and Game Devs who understand the complexities of code, and are able to tame the dragon that's Linux... Maybe I'll get there some day...

This is a great concern to me as well. I have windows 7, will never go to windows 10. If PZ becomes (now or in the future) only playable on 10, I will loose the ability to play the only game I have been playing since I found PZ (just over a year ago with over 1500 hours of play time). Dust is collecting on all my other games.

TBH, you can still play the latest games with Win7- Heck, I played CP2077 on High, and I never got any crashes or problems on it, it's all about your specs, and if you MEET a game's specs, you will be able to play it, regardless of if it says "Win10 Only". Of course, if the game has DX12 exclusively (so far, only the HZD port had that, and for me it was no prob as I have it on my PS4), it will not work. But as of right now, those games are far and few.

Don't think you need to worry - Fairly certain this just means older OSes won't be able to utilize newer optimizations done to the garbage collector so you won't get specific benefits from it, if you're on an earlier build or older OS (to a degree).

Ah, hope that's the case. I've never had any speed issues with PZ (unless I am facing a horde that takes 2/3 of the screen, and if I am in that situation, clearly I messed up), so I don't think that'll be a problem for me.

Also, thanks for not treating me like I'm some tinfoil-hatted lunatic, which is the way a lot of people react when they hear I am on Win7 because of security and privacy concerns.

  13. Quote

-Require Windows 10 version 1803 (build 17134) or greater to enable the newer garbage collector.

I am very concerned about this one line in the changelog. Does this mean that PZ will no longer be compatible with older OSes? As someone still on Win7, and with no intention to ever upgrading to Win10 (Here's me hoping that Win11 won't have as many privacy violations...), does this mean I'll become unable to play PZ after this patch?

Not yet but its weight along with its weight reduction will also be changed.

Ah, good to know. I had the feeling you'd say that, but I wanted to double-check.

  15. Looking at the big changelist, everything looks golden except one particular thing...

    Quote

Lowered fanny pack capacity from 3 to 1.

Won't this basically make the Fanny Pack completely useless? The FP already weights 1 lb while equipped (which is kinda dumb on its own), but at least it was a nice separate container to have some smaller items like meds and bandages for faster access. However, if its capacity got reduced to 1, (and unless its weight was also reduced) it'd be downright negative to even use it.

Did the weight also get tweaked?

  16. TBH, this all looks good to me. We've all seen what happens even when good game companies make the Big-MistAAAke of rushing things out to please their players, fans or soulless investors, so I actually see the decision you guys are making as 100% good. In the same way, if after those six months (I'm still shocked you actually GAVE AN ETA... what's next? GabeN counting to 3?), you guys feel it's still not enough, don't be afraid to delay it further. Always do as Shigeru Miyamoto said, not as Todd Howard does....

Also, not being one who cares much about the MP, I am quite pleased to hear that the stuff I DO care about (Noiseworks, Curves, Louiseville) is actually getting pushed forward before the MP. So that's a big plus to me.
