  1. YAAAAY!!! At last we no longer have to fear that cooking our next dinner will end up cooking up our bases!! Nonetheless, where do Fire Extinguishers spawn at?
  2. I second this notion. It has always bothered me how.... pristine all the zeds look; like they all died of something completely harmless (for their bodies) and then revived just like that. I mean, they're zo Also, this could help to give the zeds more distinctions; not just a wave of people with different-colored clothes and hairdos.
  3. Since all the Devs are gathered here, I thought I may as well ask this question. How long it'll be till IWBUMS 33? Build 32 seems pretty good so far, so I'm sure it'll be into the stable game before long. Thing is, after Mondoid ''The Biting Point'' and the TURBO MOVES OFFICE part about movable furniture.... well, that has gotten me more hyped than any NPCs stuff; Imma buildaholic y'see. And while I don't mind waiting for it, I really, really wanna have at least a rough idea of how long will it take for the IWBUMS 33 to start (once 32 is done).
  4. Weren't Pipes added on the last IWBUMS? Maybe we could use those as bars for the windows. Also, in a sense, this is already in game, but not yet craft-able. Just look at the unbreakable windows of the Gun Shop; no zed can break them down.
  5. I just found a bit of an issue with the new Engineering Magazines; they stack with each others even when they teach different recipes, and this is a tad bothersome, specially when storing them.
  6. Cool! Now I know that those pipes I've been finding here and there have some actual use. Good thing I've been saving them. Pity that lightbulbs have no apparent use...
  7. Been wondering, a lot of new stuff has been added to the game in terms of loot, and while some is clearly useless (like all that makeup and perfume that the Zeds now drop), there are some more useful-looking objects I'm rather curious if they have a function or not. Do light bulbs, pipes and credit cards serve any function?
  8. Sawing Logs into Planks also gets you Carpentry XP. However, it isn't much, so unless your map has an insanely high XP multiplier, then it would be, like, grinding Slimes to reach lvl99 in an RPG....
  9. Ah, I see. I thought the stuff you could disassemble were electronics stuff found laying around in the maps. Also, where are the Alarms? I've already found a few places with alarms but I haven't found anything to take apart there.
  10. I've been trying to disassemble all kinds of electric appliances for electronic scrap but nothing seems to work; I don't get any menus or choices to do it.... I have a Screwdriver in my inventory, yet I don't see any options to take stuff apart. Do I need the Saw as well or some other new tool? Do I need to be playing as Electrician or Engineer to do it? Are there any books/magazines I must read before being able to do it with another class (like with Generators)? Is there only a specific type of electronic appliance that can be taken apart? I've already tried TVs, Freezers, Vending Machines, Microwaves, Washing Machines, Soda Dispensers, Cash Registers. But nothing works....
  11. Was wondering why we've never gotten a Shut-in and Smoker traits. Those with the Shut-in Trait wouldn't get boredom/unhappiness while inside a building, but would get them after spending too long without doing anything while outside a building. And those with the Smoker trait would get epic long tongues to grab survivors and-I'm just jokin Those with the Smoker trait would get an increased happiness modifier (as opposed to the negative one) for smoking cigarettes, but would get unhappy if spent too long without smoking any.
  12. Just found a generator, as well as a very strange (and highly exploitable) bug. Picking it up is like picking up a corpse, and that's to be expected. However, if you pick it up, put it down, walk away from it and choose ''Take Generator'' from afar, you pick it out WITHOUT MOVING FROM YOUR PLACE and the generator stays right where it was AFTER YOU GAIN ONE IN YOUR INVENTORY. In other words, they duplicate. And you can repeat this as many times as you need. Also, if after you get you ''duplicated'' generator, you walk back to the one that's still in the ground and pick it up you get TWO GENERATORS in your inventory. And if you drop the one you're holding, the other one REMAINS in your inventory, allowing you to use weapons. This is perhaps the biggest issue I've seen so far. As for the Electrician magazines, I found one in the very same shed I found the generator (I have Abundant Loot and Lucky). And later on I found a full gas can in a dumpster. I've yet to find a Gas Station to try the rest of the functions out.
  13. *FACEPALM* Guess that's what happens when you don't have a tutorial to tell you what you can do and what you can't do... Anyway, thanks for telling me. Got a pile o'dead to burn now...
  14. Just for fun, I thought I'd play a game with INSANE number of Zeds, to see how much I could last. And guess what, I'm already on my second month (finding an axe on the very first shed I searched is probably the reason of why), but sadly, the outside (and sometimes the inside; I need to loot more Bleach...) of my safehouse at Dixie Dinner is starting to look like the aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg in ''Gone with the Wind'', and I dare say even more cluttered with dead. (Which I gathered in this overcluttered pile after searching each of them for ammo, medicine and weapons) So, after I found a can of Gas I began to wonder.... why I can't pour it over that pile o'bodies and burn them down to nothingness so I can pile even more bodies there later and repeat the process? Seriously, you see this kind of thing take place in many a zombie movie or game, and it could be a good way to dispose of all those cluttering bodies (maybe even serve as an impromptu firewall to keep other Zeds away, like they one they made circling the Pope during the Black Death to protect him from fleas and rats.) rather than have them around stinking (or worse, reviving). Of course, this would have to come with the same unfortunate implications of campfires and the soon-to-return molotov cocktails. Like say, the fire extending to your beloved safehouse, or that place you had yet to loot. Still, it could be an useful feature to get rid of those annoying piles of corpses.
  15. ^^THAT! That's the kind of thing that can make you slam your head against the keyboard. Instant ''Drop your weapon'' buttons are very, very, very dangerous. Specially, if they're close to movement keys or other similar hotkeys. This has happened to me plenty of times on Starbound, which has the Q ''Drop Weapon'' function. And give how rare and important are weapons in this game, it seems rather troublesome to implement this. However, if it was on a Right Click option instead it could work.
  16. +1 to this. Seriously, if you play with a custom setting that gives you more than the average number of zeds and stick to the same safehouse for a long while, your front yard will start looking like the battlefield of Gettysburg before long. So, easier corpse management needs to become a thing.
  17. I support this idea; some zeds' loot should look not too different to what we're carrying. They do, but those bags are empty the 99% of the time. Some time ago, just to see what dropped what or where you could find what, I made a map with all types of items set as ''Common'' and a survivor with the ''Lucky'' trait (which is pretty imbalanced IMHO). With that, I got zeds to drop as much as 3 Big Hiking Bags at the same time.... all of them usually empty, or in some rare cases, with a set of clothes inside.... that is. And I was honestly expecting to at least find some zed that had grabbed a bag of chips or a bottle of water, but noooo, seemed they all got killed because they were too busy collecting medicine (something which the zeds DO drop and is often an life-saver), grabbing clothes ('cuz you wanna survive with style, LOL) and useless clutter like combs and lipsticks (once again, surviving with style! ).
  18. Hmm, maybe it's just because I'm not familiar how things are in the States (as I live in South America), but here pretty much everyone who has more than a hundred-some square meters of garden and doesn't pay a gardener (which is rather common) has a machete, a lawnmower and many other garden keeping implements. Not to mention all the roving gardeners who show at your doorstep now and then and ask you if you need to mow your lawn, whom always have one. And how commonplace they are in pretty much every hardware store from big franchises to tiny family-run ones. Nonetheless, game wise, there are plenty of farms and faraway shacks in the map, not to mention a couple hardware stores and god knows how many tool sheds. So, maybe there should be a chance to find a machete there. I mean, who has a crowbar on his garden shed? Unless you're the type who prepares for apocalypse before hand or a Doctor in Theoretic Physics graduated from the MIT . Oh, and added a new suggestion to the OP.
  19. Yeah, due to it's location between Muldraugh and West Point (it's practically in the center of the map, although it's still pretty far away from both; wish the railroad was finished....), its proximity to a large sources of food (The nearby gas station, the supermarket down the road, and even all those homes from the trailer park), having two freezers (which is rather uncommon, at least in places easier to defend) and that amazing tall fence with a single door of its own (Which I always board up and clog with sandbags), the Dixie Dinner (as I call it) makes for an excellent meeting point for scavengers. Its main downside being its dozen of large glass windows; cannot be opened and easy for the zeds to break. Still, some curtains and high level barricades can solve that.
  20. I'm sure this must not happen to ppl to often, but have you ever been bothered by those piles of garbage that litter some places of the game? I never had before, until I made my safehouse in that Dinner that's between Muldraugh and West Point (the one next to Dixie Trailer Park). Place's a real cool base; has a fully-covered tall-fenced backyard, two freezers and plenty of places around to store your stuff. While being far enough from both cities that Zeds aren't that common. Problem is, that cool fenced backyard is full of garbage piles. Garbage piles you can't remove with ANYTHING (tried Sledgehammers, shovels, spades, building a wooden floor over them. Nothing works) and that cover the place where I want to make crops. So, just like we can remove bushes and grass, as well as clean Zed blood off the walls, and even remove said walls.... why can't we get rid of that annoying garbage? Maybe you'd need a plastic bag or a garbage bag to remove it; that'd be cool. I just want a way to remove all that stuff from my backyard.
  21. I love this idea and I'm surprised that no one has suggested this before. I mean, Zombie Cops have become quite common since RE3. Which makes me think.... why aren't there Nightsticks in this game? They could do for a nice weapon, and maybe even a starter one for the Security Guard and Police Officer Jobs. Also, I thought of two other jobs for zombies: Chef/Burger Flipper: They'd carry kitchen utensils, matches or maybe even food. And they would wear and apron of some kind; maybe those uniforms employees from cheap dinners use. As for unique drops, maybe non-perishable food or luxury food. Those might not seem so unique, but over a year after the end, once power has failed and everything has spoiled, finding some beef jerky or a pickle could save your belly. Janitor: They'd carry Mops or Brooms, as well as cleaning supplies like Bleach or a Bucket. They'd probably wear a blue uniform or jumpsuit for sorts. Not sure of what would do for their unique drops, maybe they could drop those thick rubber gloves most janitor use, but not sure of what bonus they could give you...
  22. Been getting more and more ideas, so I've added them to the OP and changed the topic's name.
  23. Hmm, that's not a bad idea either. Although these ''homemade'' ladders should be less durable than the found metallic ones (meaning, risk of it breaking while you're climbing it.). But, as a plus, they should be much lighter, although you'd still have to carry them like a corpse.
  24. Most of this sounds nice, except this last bit about fire extinguishers. As a former security officer I know for certain its part of many peoples jobs to check the fire extinguisher and make sure this never happens. In fact you can get fined if someone does a surprise inspection, or just so happens to notice, that a fire extinguisher is low/empty since its a serious saftey violation. Im sure even Kentucky has these sort of public saftey laws~ so I see no reason why most of them would be empty. Sure, maybe some, but if you find your fire extinguisher in a store it should be 99% of the time perfectly functional. Ah, I had no idea it was like that. Guess I'm too used to the lack or laxness of that kind of regulations as I live on a 3rd world country. Still, I was mostly thinking of that as a way to balance out the fact they would be so common. Maybe instead of being low or empty, they could be half full; not empty enough to be useless but not top notch refilled either. Could be. But they'd probably be tiresome as hell; they'd do crowbar-worthy damage, but get you tired like a freaking sledge. Not to mention they'd be damn slow to swing as well. Even more than the sledge I reckon...
  25. Here are three new items with their respective mechanics that would flawlessly fit this game: 1. Ladders Ever seen one of these? These foldable metal ladders (which are rather commonplace in garages, construction sites and tool shops) would make quite a great addition to the game. First, they could be used to access the second-floor window of a house you were trying to get into. The downside would be that the zeds could knock it down as you are climbing and send you to your death (or a lot of fractures if you happen to survive). Also, they could be useful for building roofs to our bases, instead of having to waste wood and nails on building a freaking stair. They should be pretty rare (sorta like Sledges, which are hard to find), but completely indestructible. Another downside would be that you wouldn't be able to put it on your pack; you'd have to carry it in both hands (just like with a corpse) and its great weight (I think 10lbs would be a good weight) would slow you down. 2. Machetes No zombie game or movie is complete without one of these, and the same goes for pretty much every garden shed. Currently, the most practical weapons in PZ are always Blunt weapons (with the sole exception of the Axe, which is pretty uncommon); all Bladed weapons either do too little damage, break too fast or have a range so short you end up getting bitten. The addition of a machete to that list would help to balance against the more advantageous Blunt weapons like the Crowbar and the Baseball Bat (Nailed or not). Because the Axe is on the same level of rarity of the Sledge (which would be its Blunt counterpart) and given its wood-chopping capabilities, most ppl prefer (or at least so I've seen) to use it exclusively for lumberjack'n. Machetes should be the Bladed counterpart of the Crowbars; uncommon but not that rare, weighty but durable, and with a real good damage. They would also be found on the same places as Crowbars (crates, tool sheds, hardware stores, etc) which wouldn't make it to hard for them to be implemented. 3. Fire Extinguishers Technically, these are ALREADY in game, but they serve as much purpose as combs and toothbrushes (according to the Wiki, at least). But, let's be honest, we've all gotten our safehouse consumed by flames at least once. So, at the moment we see the flames emerging, why shouldn't we be able to grab one of these and put them out before they do more damage? It would require the same mechanics of a shotgun; just wear them in both hands aim at the flames and unleash a cone of CO2 upon them. However, they would run out after a few uses, just like a paint can. Not to mention they would be quite noisy and probably attract some zeds. Given they wouldn't have any combat use, they'd probably be pretty common. They could be found at houses' kitchens, offices, shops, schools, storehouses; in fact, they'd be found in lots and lots of places. Thing is, many of them would probably have little charge left or be plain empty. And, you wouldn't be able to refill them in any way; it takes a lot of specific tools and materials to get such task done, and it wouldn't be possible in a post-apoc setting. 3. Nightsticks Commonplace in many zombie games, and some places in real life too. So I was pretty surprised that I didn't found any of these in the police station. They would be a decent Blunt Weapon; less range than the Bat, but with a faster swing and much more durable. (Police Officer and Security Guard Jobs could come with a swing speed bonus to it, kinda like Axe Man does for Firemen and Lumberjacks). As for places to find it, Police Stations or any place that may require a guard (Like Banks, some Offices, Stores and Supermarkets, etc ), and sometimes maybe in the corpse of a zombie. (Zombie Cops should be a thing too) 4. Mops/Brooms Who doesn't have one of these at home or has seen the one the janitor of your office uses? They're not exactly a deadly weapon, tho (Unless you're Rei Miyamoto from Highschool of the Dead...). They'd be the shovel's weaker but more commonplace cousin; long range and lightweight but prone to breaking and rather weak. However, they'd be utterly common, and clearly a much better weapon choice than a pencil or your bare hands. 5. Wrench/Spanner Now were's a commonplace favorite I can't believe I forgot about! And although they're not common in people's houses or garden sheds (unless you're the handyman type or the ''Screw mechanics, I'll fix my own car!'' type), they'd be omnipresent on Auto Repairs, Hardware Stores and maybe even the trunks of cars and trucks (when they get added, that is). Combat-wise, they'd be the crowbar's bigger cousin; heavier but deadlier too, yet not as strong as the Sledge. Plus, now that the new Engineer Job that comes on at Build 32, they'd make a fitting weapon for them, or maybe even have some purpose disassembling stuff (it takes more than a Screwdriver to dismantle freezer) . Not to mention that if you're female, you could call yourself a Wrench Wench, one with a mighty Wrench Whack
