  1. As far as using them as a weapon, not so much tiresome, but a little slower. The bigger problem is the lack of much reach since theres no handle really to swing them so you would have to use it like you would say a bucket. Id think a sledge would tire you way more than a fire extinguisher though, especially a small fire extinguisher. They do come in different sizes after all, and most are big enough that any average person could use with little trouble.
  2. I wish some of the multiplayer server options [servertest.ini] were available for sandbox too, for instance like fire spreading or how long it takes to read a book or spawn points, and able to specify things more like putting in specific numbers, spawning with items etc~
  3. Exactly, and even in the case of ramen noodles or even chicken noodle soup which has a lot of salt, theres still so much water in it [hence why its a soup...] that it would still help thirst a little. I know I wouldnt be dying of thirst after a steamy bowl of soup or stew of some kind. Not to mention that some salt is good for you, ya can die without it. Most soup isnt the same as drinking salt water though... >.> I mean if the sugar in soda helps hunger a bit then soup should definitely restore some thirst.
  4. I like changing the starting month so it isnt balls hot when I start the game. I like March, so it starts kinda cold then slowly becomes warmer... so, theres plenty of situations where the power shouldnt be out and its cold. Not to mention the power and stuff going out is customizable as well... Gotta remember this is in kentucky though~
  5. Most of this sounds nice, except this last bit about fire extinguishers. As a former security officer I know for certain its part of many peoples jobs to check the fire extinguisher and make sure this never happens. In fact you can get fined if someone does a surprise inspection, or just so happens to notice, that a fire extinguisher is low/empty since its a serious saftey violation. Im sure even Kentucky has these sort of public saftey laws~ so I see no reason why most of them would be empty. Sure, maybe some, but if you find your fire extinguisher in a store it should be 99% of the time perfectly functional.
  6. Why would a metal pipe have a lot less durability than a wooden bat exactly? >.> Other than that they all make sense to me
  7. The deck of cards and yoyo is another good point, Im currently fiddling around [more like a monkey plugging different shaped blocks into wrong shaped holes] with some of the games files to let me use playing cards and the yoyo to remove a bit of boredom, you know as a more reusable form of books that seem to disappear into the ether whenever I use one.
  8. Yea thats what I figured they meant, but since there were items related to hygiene I wanted to specify that what I was trying to suggest wasnt like the sims. I really hope it does get implemented then, we could use more ways to combat negative moods. Plus I think it could also help in dealing with NPCs whenever they get implemented.
  9. Haha, but yea, similar to how skyrim does food. I didnt wanna mention skyrim exactly but I do love me some skyrim~
  10. Not more than a can of soda, the same I wasn't sure what other number to pick, and I know a can of soda actually replenishes MY thirst less than drinking an actual glass of water. Sometimes I feel more thirsty after a soda than I did before I drank it. Of course the actual numbers can be tweeked and so on, I just chose soda for the base test.
  11. Now, before I start I know in the commonly suggested threads personal hygeine was said to be a no. But I dont think this really qualifies~ it's close don't get me wrong, but not exactly the same. See the idea is maybe occasionally if you DO brush your teeth or comb your hair or shave or clean yourself or use any of those other toiletry items that you could help your stress or unhappiness levels some. Maybe changing and washing your clothes with bleach or soap occasionally could as well. Now to keep it from being abused it'd probably be a limited times per use sort of thing, like once a day or something. Now I know a bunch of you just asked yourself "Isnt that the same as making personal hygeine?" I don't think so. Im not suggesting adding a "dirtiness meter" or a "go to the potty bar" or anything like that, Im not even suggesting our clothes visually get torn or dirty [which would still be cool] I'm only saying since these items are already in the game, like soap and towels and razors and tooth brushes etc etc that we be able to use them. Maybe the items could have a limited number of uses, like a tube of tooth paste being able to used maybe 20 or 30 times, or a bar of soap being able to be used a limited number of times... the same as pills and bleach. And if we use them, to say brush our teeth, it would positively effect related stats concerning our mood like reading a book, the same as eating a cooked rat or dogfood negatively impacts us. We wouldnt even need to specifically bathe or anything, we could just right click "wipe down" by a water source and a rag to use some of it just like we do when we drink. Like I said, I know it's a close line towards including hygeine, but I think its different enough and simple enough to do it should at least be considered, don't you? In my mind its not that different of cooking your food instead of eating it raw. Its more about being human and civilized, and doing certain things like cleaning is rather enjoyable, and relaxing for many people. In fact I know Id get a sour mood too if I was stinky and covered in dirt and running around in blood stained gorery clothes and I hadnt evened bothered to wipe myself off after weeks, months and so on. So it also makes sense that cleaning yourself off occasionally might make someone feel better, and I know a lot of people would eventually feel better if they could shave. Though it would be cool if men grew beards now that Im thinking about it...
  12. Pretty basic one this suggestion, I was really surprised [it ended up getting me killed, died of thirst] when I found out soups and stews didn't restore thirst. It's a pretty basic fix too... I went in and was looking at all the various items and just added this line to all the stews and soups I could find. I added it to the bowl of ramen noodles too, since thats a soup as well. ThirstChange = -85, Which is the same as a can of soda. I figured that was fair since soda somehow restores hunger... another mystery I havent quite figured out yet.
  13. Im not sure what the exact times are but I'll come back from an exciting loot run, and start eagerly putting stuff away... and after standing still for maybe a minute or two while Im looking through my inventory and storing stuff away my character has already gotten bored. Often times since I bring back multiple bags and it takes time to sort and store stuff my character's mood is already suffering immensely. Now I play with the time a bit longer than average and Im not sure if it factors that at all but Id think when your doing stuff like working and moving stuff from inventory to shelves and such it shouldn't be hurting your mood as bad. Maybe if we could re-read books it wouldnt be so bad, or if I could play a game of solitare with cards or play with a yoyo or other things to improve the bored factor. But as it is the only sure fire way of not being bored is to be fighting hordes of zombies which somehow instantly improves my mood. Seems a bit crazy or sadistic really. But since its so easy to get bored and being bored makes it so you get sad I get super depressed really easy and quickly just having come back from loot runs. I think it should take longer to get bored honestly, but other than that maybe a perk to make it longer/harder to get bored. Something called like, meditative or patient [can think of many names for it]... And you could have the opposite negative perk called ADHD or something where you get bored even easier than normal... perhaps the current speed. Really though it feels like all the characters must have ADHD standard though with how easily they get bored. Could even have perks/flaws where being bored had more or less of an effect to make you depressed, like being dull or pessimistic. That way even if your really bored you'd be used to it, so it wouldnt make you as depressed. Of course there could be perks that center around being depressed more or less easy as well, and I dont mind people helping brainstorm some names for stuff like that. Just... right now it seems like theres not much I can do to control it other than "eatting" books and such. And, being bored or depressed doesnt seem to do anything other than make it take EVEN LONGER to put stuff away... which makes it harder to not get bored... which makes it impossible to stay from being depressed. Catch 22 I guess. I dont see why being depressed would make it take 10 times longer to put stuff away but meh~ sepperate issue I guess. So far though, these moodlets only make the game take longer and, actually more boring to play. I dont think my character being bored should cause me to get bored, thats a bit of a breakage of the fourth wall I think. Seriously though I'll be trying to put away some cigs, nails or some ammo and it'll take "forever". Its like "well let me check other stuff while I take several minutes to put these cigs away... --- --- --- So, anyone know maybe which line I could alter in a file somewhere to change the rate that characters get bored maybe? Please?
  14. Did not know that, I just have the one with the little hand crank you have to manually charge. I suppose a body heat one would just naturally recharge over time if you carried it on you, though I have no idea how long that would take, nor how long the light would last. I suppose you could always stick the heat flashlight in the oven to fully charge it quickly but, first I'd make a hand crank one.
  15. I suppose I should try to disect your mod then for a good place to start I recently downloaded it anyway since I too was a bit curious why I couldnt dry a wet towel.
  16. Thanks Geras! And Vinny... hmm, well id think if you had some ripped sheets you could wrap your hand in it and clear the window perhaps. Or if you had a hammer or something blunt you could continue breaking away all the shards. Or if you had some pliers you could pull the glass out maybe. Granted I havent tried opening a window with every single item in the game equipped but I don't think its a normal option in the game Vinny. Maybe you have a mod? Or if you can do it and find out which item you need I'd be appreciative. However when I check it on the wiki it says this. http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Window Windows can be instantly "smashed" by a survivor for a quick escape but smashing the window has a chance cutting that character, Cracking a window using your bare hands guarantees bleeding. Furthermore, windows can be jumped out of from higher stories but will usually lead to severe injuries even if the survivor jumped out from only the second floor. Zombies can also leap out of windows from higher floors, but the injuries they get are lesser than the injuries a survivor may get.
  17. Hah, yea I know about the problem with right clicking and selecting "break". I sorta made a joke about it in the post mentioning that you had to attack it instead. Anyway... I dunno if you're on a different version than me but Im on the latest one from steam and you cant right click to remove glass. At least I cant. *breaks a perfectly fine window and takes a pic* And yea, I can still get cut climbing through it. So, its not safe.
  18. I would like some help with a new item, a rechargeable flashlight. The basic idea is you cant use batteries on it, but you could right click the flashlight and get an option to recharge it by cranking it with your hand. It would take time to do so, and the lower the charge on it when you started the longer it would take to fully charge it. It wouldnt last as long as a normal flashlight but it wouldnt take that long to crank it either really. In my mind I have it working similar to filling up a pot of water. If you fill the pot when its empty it takes longer than filling it when its only at half. Im perfectly capable of making a new sprite for the item, Im thinking of just recoloring the default flashlight to be red. In my own "survival kit" I actually have a hand rechargable flashlight, and it always boggles me why no one ever seems to include them. Other ideas is to make rechargeable flashlights lootable, it would just be rarer to find one than a normal flashlight. Maybe you could substitute rechargeable flashlights for different recipes for normal flashlights too, like the light on a stick. But for now I'll probably keep it super simple and focus on just figuring out how to make the basic rechargeable light. So... any advice? Or, if you think you can hammer it out easily on your own have at it.
  19. Hey everyone, I've never modded anything in PZ before but I'm not against trying, I'm actually really interested in getting my hands dirty. So first let me say if someone is already working on a mod or one is already out that I couldn't find it, and I checked the mods forum, wip forum and help forum. However I figure the powers that be out there and with how simple a mod Im planning to do, it might be much easier to just ask someone else for some help with it until the PZ devs do something themselves in the official game. So... as you know you can right click a window and choose "break window" and most likely fuck up yourself as you apparently dive head first through the window. Last time I tried that I had my bat equipped and STILL I got cuts on both arms and I was like "Why would I need to use both arms...?" o.O; Anyway, you could do that, or you could swing a bat or something at the window and break it easy peazy too. Then again, you could always just wait for a zombie to break it for you, they really like breaking windows too after all. So now we're standing outside a broken window and we're thinking to ourselves "Well I can just climb through it but I might cut myself." So, thats an option... albeit as smart an option as breaking the window with both arms instead of using the bat you had equipped. And then you might be thinking "Well maybe I'll clear the glass away." Theres a problem with that too though, 1= as devs have pointed out you'll need to make a bunch of sprites and stuff for a cleaned broken window, for each window, for each direction it faces. 2= Could still probably cut yourself in the process of doing it 3= would probably create even more noise and take a lot of time. Or... you know... you could just safely and quickly reach in through the broken window and unlock it, then open it. That's what I'm proposing, and thats what I'd like to ask help with making a mod to do. Id like to be able to open a broken window, to treat all broken windows as "unlocked" so we can right click them and get the default open window option from the drop down menu. We dont even need new sprites or anything we can just use the default open window sprites. So... how hard would it be do to that? Any helpful advice would be lovely. Or, if you think you could hammer something out like that yourself super easy feel free to! Just would be nice if you said I gave you the idea and sent me the link to your mod so I can download and use it. Ya know, at this point I don't even care if someone wanted to give me any credit for the idea, I just think this is a mod that should happen so Id be happy however it happened. >.>

    Fire Extinguisher

Yea me too, I got super excited and was like "Nope, no fighting fires for me~"
  21. I sorta wondered why females wearing a sweater seem to be wearing a short sleeve shirt, and why there isnt a shorts option for males or females for hot days~
  22. Oh when I saw this I thought it would be something like zombies getting stuck on fences or falling over them... cuz thats what I was thinking of suggestions. In all truth I didnt know how to jump a fence at first, and I thought it was weird how easy the shambling zombies could get over the fences.
  23. Exactly right. Maybe if your character could build up their own natural pain tolerance as the game goes on would be better, just as normal people freak out a lot at first at the sight of a zombie but gradually become desensitized.
  24. I think as long as the hoardes were an option with settings and stuff you could specify like how big a hoarde, strength of zombies in the hoarde, how often one might appear or the chances of one appearing, and finally some sort of audio que like a car alarm going off in the background or lots of moaning or any of the other background sound effects like shots being fired and what not that currently doesnt do anything then... yea Id be fine with it I do like how if your the admin of a server though you can spawn a bunch of zombies. Ive yet to do it but I have noticed the command for it. createhorde = Use this to spawn a horde near you, user : /create horde count, ex /createhorde 150
