hrot reacted to Rommert in Pistol sound too high pitched
    Hello friends

I dislike the high pitched sound the pistol makes when shooting and it sounds like it was recorded with a phone.
Are the devs planning on changing this ?

(Sorry for bad grammar and sentences this is my first post and English in not my main language)

hrot got a reaction from Rommert in graphic suggestion: render character behind walls
Isometric view have some kind of problems like for example that:
    http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/3700-watchtowers/
when devs decided to not allow rotate stair in every way.
There is implemented a visiblity bubble around your character system but
in many cases it makes more problems than it solves so there is my idea.
When you are near walls you don't see much. For example i had problem
when building walls when i didn't see where i builded wall and where is
    empty space.

    Screens:

So my suggestion is to make something like this:
I will use Torchlight 2 for example:

So basically you make objects like walls etc visible and character
visible too by making a glowing model or maybe white / dark contour of character which would fit perfectly the graphic style of the game.
It could be just option to enable/disable but i think it could make game
more clear. Also with this you could enable rotate stairs like other crafting objects.
I think it would be better system than the current one (visibility bubble).

hrot reacted to Blake81 in Realistic Sledgehammer: No More ''Magic Demolition''
Just found my first Sledgehammer and I said ''Cool! Now I can take down those doors I wanna break for hinges and planks. Maybe even get myself some more planks from some wooden houses I saw.'', but, when I destroyed my first door IT LEFT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BEHIND. Then tried with house's wall, same result. With a wooden wall I built? Same result....

It's as if more than a sledgehammer, it was a sort of ''Delete'' button that magically disintegrates everything it touches. Why is that? Why can a humble hammer or ax demolish a door more realistically than a sledge? Why do demolished walls don't leave a single bit of rubble? This turns the rare and sought-after sledgehammer in little more than just a big eraser you can use to remove stuff (something which, by itself, is pretty unrealistic. See my other thread for ideas about these furniture issues.)

When destroyed by a sledge, doors should behave just like when this is done by a hammer or axe, same for anything player-built.

Normal house parts should leave behind different stuff depending on their material; wooden fences and walls should leave planks, roofs should leave roof tiles (which should be used for building a roof instead of just Wooden Floor-ing everything), metallic walls should leave scrap metal or metal plates, etc.

I'm really surprised this hasn't been implemented yet.

Very simple request. I'd like to see the ability to save your characters during their creation, much like how you can save Sandbox settings alongside the pre-existing presets (Default, Beginner, 8 Months After Apocalypse).

This could lead to some very interesting concepts later down the line when customization of characters becomes more in-depth, as you could have people sharing different character creations with each other with different trait and profession combinations.

I find it slightly irritating having to create my preferred builds over and over, though I don't mind. It would just be helpful and more efficient if you could save them for easy access.

hrot reacted to MyTJ in Reading speed
    Hi everyone

Got this idea reading Hrot post on light and reading : http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/13528-reading-light-and-realism/

Got me thinking that other factors then lighting can impair reading, slowing it down or even degressing the progression slowly (think utterly shit faced trying to understand complex mathematical stuff).

The most obvious ones that could probably have the greatest impact are : drunk and sleepy status.

Others that could affect in a more limited way, all of them affecting slightly the ability to concentrate : hunger, thirst, pain, unhapiness

On the positive side, there could be additionnal status like well-rested that would affect reading speed (among other things).

Some new drugs could be implemented to affect positively concentration and thus reading speed (ex.: Methylphenidate, Atomoxetine, ...).  Antidepressants could be ruled to have this effect (as Methylphenidate is sometimes used to treat depression), but would require to have a ''positive'' moodle when it goes over the threshold.

    Hi everyone.

Got this idea while reading oooooooooott suggestion http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/13497-barricading-one-side-of-an-entrance/.

I honestly don't know if the suggestion was already made and I don't think it's implemented in the game.

The idea is simple, crowbars are excelent (better than hammers) at removing nails and plank.  They should not only be usable to unbarricade stuff, they should be faster too.

hrot got a reaction from LogicalKip in Reading, light and realism
Typical situation in game now: it's 10pm, too dark to go outside, probably too early to sleep. Player doesn't have anything to do so he/she read some skill book to gain exp boost / kill time but wait there is one problem with reading, there is no light source (in most cases, after power is off).
So i suggest that if player want to read he need a light source near character or he simply can't read books/magazines etc.
This of course will require placeable candles/flashlights and maybe some recipe with flashlight so it will work as lamp.
I think it is simple, realistic idea which will make game harder and better.

hrot reacted to Geonjaha in Removing glass from windows
With the new medical system, there's actually a consequence of climbing through a window you just broke, which is great...for the most part.

Since this system seems to be in to punish people who want to get into a building quickly (e.g. when running from zombies) then maybe there should be an option to remove glass from broken windows to remove the possibility of getting injured. Have it take maybe 20 seconds (irl) to prevent people from using it when they're in a hurry, but still allowing those who are in no rush to actually get in safely.

If I'm alone next to a house I want to enter, and the only route is the window, I could easily spend the time breaking away the glass to prevent injury instead of just chancing it - it just ends up being a waste of time having to knock the door down just to play it safe.

Oh, I used that to change it to slow since as I said it disappears too fast, and even with slow it disappears too fast. I might try very slow. But, yea it'd be nice if you could select them individually. I personally think the food is okay ish as it is default, other than well fed disappearing too fast. My main issue is with dying from no water in like a day. Would be nice if we could select the rates individually though~ And not just fast, slow, and so on, but actual numbers. Like three days without water to die.

Other than that, so it reduces the amount of damage you take? Or is that just bleed damage?

Random thought... why doesnt being out in the rain and getting drenched help against being parched anyway? All you would have to do is look up and open your mouth or hold your hands together to get a drink... Last game I died of thirst in the middle of a rain storm :/

hrot reacted to EasyPickins in Stomping zombie heads even with a weapon equipped
I've implemented this, it may be in the next release.   I assigned the Spacebar (or Left Trigger with the controller) to shove/stomp the nearest zombie regardless of what weapon is equipped.  This is good when using knives, IIRC you couldn't shove when using a knife.

Hmm.. then shame on my, i didn't knew about barricading from outside, of course your idea is very good, same problem like with curtains. Removing barricades should be harder i think though to the point when if someone would try to attack your base then he would have to destroy barricaded windows/doors not just removing them and voila.
Removing with hammer should be only option to owner of the base by default

I'm pretty sure everything you mentioned is already implemented in the game.

What I suggested in this post was that people should only be able to destroy barricades from the side they were created on. At the moment, you can destroy barricades made from inside from the outside almost instantaneously with a hammer. As of build 31.something, The Indie Stone made it so that you are unable to interact with curtains from the outside of a closed window. I feel that the same restrictions should apply to barricades.

TLDR: In real life, if you barricade a door from the inside, you can't pull out the planks from the outside. I feel that this should apply to PZ as well.

Personally i think it should be possible to barricade from outside of building and inside too.
Also when barricade is made you can destroy it or you can remove it with hammer but it should require a lot of time and create some noise.

It should be default option, changeable in sandbox. Strange that you respawn on someone dead body with full loot etc.

It's very strange that campfire look like this in game:

but recipe doesn't require stones. It should only require stones and nothing more.
If you want light it up you add sheets, sticks, logs, planks, whatever you want.

Edit: It should also require more time to place campfire, you need to clean ground etc before you place it.
