    great idea!

would be cool to see profession clothes give small boosts when wearing them too (though I don't know how easy that would be to program), but like fitness instructor shoes wouldn't necessarily be faster but maybe the provide slower endurance loss, and a firemans jacket could protect against some fire, maybe the chef's Jacket (or knife) makes better food and the construction worker could have a tool belt that boosts dexterity.

To make this clear, this is NOT talking about special, mutated zombies of any kind nor will it affect their behavior and stats. This would simply add more variation to zombie appearance and would affect loot drops and such depending on the variation.

In the zombie apocalypse, not everyone is going to be at their homes in plain colored clothes when the outbreak spreads. People will be killed/turned at their workplace or while performing a specific service. These zombies had professions/jobs at the time of the zombie apocalypse. Once they turn, they will wear and hold (but not use) items that go with their profession or job and join the horde of the undead. As a result, looting a zombie of a certain profession has a chance to have certain items on them. I will show some examples of some "professional" zombies:

Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons, and/or EMTs: Chance to have useful medical items such as disinfectant, bandages, or needles.

Fireman: Chance to have axes and fire extinguishers

Policemen:Chance to have a weapon (a bat, crowbar, pistol, shotgun, or ammo for said guns)

Construction Worker: Chance for hammer, nails, screws, screwdriver, glue, and wood glue

An issue of this would be how the clothes would drop. They would be wearing uniforms, not plain clothes. However maybe we can have uniforms act similar to basic clothes and act as cosmetic variations.

Weight isn't in any unit of measure (outside of fish, as far as I know). It's literally just a representation of "weight."

You can already tie logs up with rope to make them weigh less. Just imagine you're dragging them.

Hello, was just wondering if it's all good to stream the build 31 [iwillbackupmysave] on Twitch? I hardly see anyone streaming PZ and it definitely needs more attention. Without a doubt the best game I've played for as long as I can remember. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread, I'm new to the PZ forums.

Edit: Oops I should have read the thread before posting *facepalm* my bad, sorry.

Some veggies are just better as ingredients. Oh that reminds me. Being able to make a salad with foraged items feels like it shoukd be a thing. Grape leaves, mushrooms, berries, violets and nuts. Yum yum. Could some kinds of mushrooms make you sick? Provided your foraging is high enough to know better? Just spitballin. Not much point geting to level 10 foraging if you can only munch those berries one at a time.
I get that the game has a lot of elements to prioritize. All that potential has got to be a handful

So my only beef is shelter. To make it on your own in the woods, it takes a while to get to a level where you can build stairs and then floors for shelter from the rain. It also kind of forces you into carpentry traits when a crappy one story shack is more than fine for any outdoorsman looking to make it living off the land. It makes sense to need a high level of carpentry for stairs, but it's kind of hard to imagine a trapping/fishing/farming outdoorsman would spend that whole time soaking wet (and exhausted because you can't rest in the woods without at leat some carpentry) i get that it's easy to boost that skill, but it just seems off a bit still.
Maybe the tent can be adapted for multiplayer to rest in while providing shelter from the rain? as it does make the whole tent craftable useless in MP and I'm sure someone on your great team worked hard on it.
At risk of coming off sounding greedy, but trapping is useless without gardening. Could there be more successful kinds of bait? And possibly being able to forage at least one baitable item for the trap crate. Birds are tasty and all, but variety is the spice of life. I feel like radishes don't have a recipe that includes them or anything. Raw radishes...?! Gross.
Anyways, as far as playability goes, i love that you have to specialize.
Can't wait to try out as many styles of characters as i can. Im no mathematician but the replay ability that comes out of this system is through the roof. (no caroentry pun intended)
Multiplayer servers are getting more and more realistic. Check out Zeek's Haven: there are quite a few factions, some couriers between the groups, bandits, events and a bitter lack in the ability to trust. So much more of a head game now and teamspeak or VoIP would greatly enhance that, whenever you get time. No rush.
Anyways, great work all around, I'd say. A work of art, in the eyes of it's creator is forever in progress.

    Greetings forumites!

I'm working on an easier way for OS X users (and possibly a slightly cleaner way for Linux users) to host servers. Rather than having to duplicate the game and change values in messy info.plist files, OS X users should be able to host a basic game with a single click of a file!

But first I need volunteers to make sure it works on everyone else's machines. I definitely need an OS X volunteer, and if someone on Linux wants to give it a shot (I've no idea if it'll work for you guys or not, but presumably it will) that'd be great, too.

Simply download this file, unzip it, and double click it. If a server comes up, victory! Report back to me with your findings.

Game has vastly improved. One of my nephew wouldn't play this before, with the new professions he feels like he actually has a purpose. Greatly improved the multiplayer.

Congratulations Indie Stone forum member. You have been promoted to official tester of Project Zomboid.

As such, you will now have access, if you should so desire, to much more frequent, but likely or potentially much more broken versions of the game, if indeed this is of interest to you.

So say hello to the 'iwillbackupmysave' branch of PZ. This will be updated with builds as soon as we feel we can safely make them public, to aid us in finding remaining issues before it is rolled out to eveyone.

Anyone who wants to share details on how to get on this branch, please respect our wishes and forward people to this post and insist it is read in full before any downloading commences.

Before participating, please read the following bullet-points and scream I AGREE at the top of your voice at the screen:

I accept by playing the game on this branch, at some point I am almost certainly going to hit crippling bugs, and potentially lose progress or worlds. I will therefore back up any saves I deem important (located in C:/Users/<Username>/Zomboid on windows systems, HD:/Users/<Username>/Zomboid on Mac, and /home/<Username>/Zomboid/ on linux. I will not get angry or complain of any bugs, or balance, or changes, or remark that 'this build is more buggy than the last one!' or similar - That is the entire reason it's on this branch. If I have problems with the final build as released to the main branch, then of course a bad review is perfectly valid if the game has not lived up to my expectations. However, I accept that negative reviews with justification based on the stability, or otherwise non-final status of IWBUMS builds will be justifiably flagged. If I encounter problems, I will either wait until the final build, or discuss my thoughts and concerns civilly on the forums so the final build has the opportunity to address my concerns. I will title my streams and/or videos accordingly, stating that the shown build is a work in progress and part of the IWBUMS beta branch. I know what the console log is, and on the event of a crash I know to post the text therein on this forum, and not just say 'it crashed!' Right. We good?

Right click Project Zomboid in your Steam library and select "Properties". Navigate to the Steam Beta tab and select the "iwillbackupmysave" beta branch from the dropdown.

    No password is required.

    GIF Instruction for Steam:

For Build 41, it does not matter if you subscribe to the "build41" beta or "iwillbackupmysave". The two are identical.

    GIF Instructions for GOG Galaxy:

The Linux users of GOG will be able to access beta branches through the offline installers in the Downloads section for PZ in your library.

The IWBUMS branch allows us to have much wider and faster feedback on general updates, while allowing us to concentrate on wider more in-depth, focused and crucially less time-pressured/demanding testing with the testing team. Hurrah!

Still here? Awesome! So, if you run into a bug, the best thing to do is to either report it on our bug forum. If you've a spare 10 minutes, give this a read. It explains how to report problems in a way that can let us help you easily. (Seriously, please read it. Please. Pretty please. With Pink sugar icing on top.)

If you can, always post your console.txt file. On Windows, you can find this in C:\Users\Username\Zomboid (Where Username is your windows username). On Mac and Linux it'll be in your /home/username/Zomboid/ folder.
