    You do realize that:
(further it's code I consider antiquated and badly conceived / written with numerous fundamental newbie misunderstandings about how AI work, which is why it was rewritten)
Is Lemmy talking about his own code from the disabled functions you are reactiving? Nothing to do with what you've written...

I don't mean to give offence, but I was wondering if English was your primary language. When I saw your lengthy response and how you seemed genuinely upset about Lemmy bashing his old code, and those old functions I first had the thought. I'm not trying to belittle you or demotivate you in any way. I'm trying to point out the obvious and make it clear that the statements you are taking issue with are intended to be directed at those old functions. Whether or not you intend to do much more with the mod and your own code base it doesn't change the fact that right now you are using those things, and that is what Lemmy was referring to.

Now to your point about myself, or anybody, belittling your code. All I know for certain from the chain events that lead to me posting in this thread, is that you are, at the moment, using old / removed functions and basing your mod around those, albeit temporary or not. In the future if you do create your own stuff to drive the mod that'd be awesome! However, for now all I can do is comment on what is currently happening, which is based on that leftover stuff in the game, correct? So when anybody refers to anything in this thread as antiquated or outdated, they mean those old functions, bits and bobs leftover from olden builds, not your code. I'm not sitting here even looking at your code, let alone judging it... just your misunderstanding of context and trying to relay where this went off the rails.

Does that make my post any more clear? I'm trying to help you understand the context and the comments, not have a go at you!

    Heya,

In my years working with and for TIS, one of the biggest things I've learned is that nobody is perfect. Don't worry- I don't think anyone here holds anything against you, and I really hope you won't quit modding. We love our modders, and we love you. Even with the apprehension some of us had towards what this mod would mean for us as far as the public's perception, we were (and are) all rooting for you. Cheers dude.

Just stepping over the thread quarantine line to send MisterInSayne a hug. I'm sorry this went in such a horrible direction but it seems like it wasn't the desire of anyone involved and we really tried our best to approach this in a way that caused the least offense possible. Clearly we failed in that but it wasn't our intent to hurt your feelings and we tried to make it clear at the same time how high regard we had for what you'd done.

You do realize, as well, that I was wondering, is past tense, and I was the one that suggested to the moderators of this forum that it perhaps not your native language before you posted that English is not your native language, your first big write-up today, in fact, as soon as I read your writing on the steam community hub.

I read your whole post, and I was wondering is a past tense way of saying that before you confirmed it, I suspected it   You accuse others of being rude and offending you but have no qualms with behaving in that way yourself. That is fine tho, I tend not to post on the forum anyways and I was only stepping in this thread in an attempt to help bridge the understanding gap and language barrier owing to the fact that I recognized similar forms of misunderstand from my stream! I'll leave it to the mods at this point as it seems clear that you have no intention of letting me help resolve the situation peaceably.

    Best of luck to you.

Not sure if my opinion is wanted or warranted here but...
Yes you can get huge hordes, and yes you can try to control them with shotguns and other loud noises, but the thing you're NOT mentioning is that if I had so much as been TOUCHED by one of those zombies due to things like, running out of stamina, getting hungry or thirsty causing encumbrance, or get a little too cocky; I would've been dead in seconds; In fact that HAS happened to me on MANY occasions. Even without that kind of zombie density, as another example, I had an 8 month character in survival mode die due to ONE scratch because I was cocky and assumed I could loot with impunity! By one zombie, I mean a single zombie, in the corner of the room, which I had missed when I went in to look for books. The Romero style lore leads into human fallacy and complacency. When you are constantly on vigil you can out-think and out-distance the zombies, yes. However as soon as you feel you are safe and take little to no precaution you find yourself ripped to shreds, or just scratched / bitten, and then dead shortly thereafter.
As a further side note, the reason to pull all the zombies like that in the youtube clip was BECAUSE Shannon got exhausted while out looting! Her sprinting pace became a very very slow walk, so in order to keep zombies away, I pulled all the focus. Dangerous? Yes. Could that have gotten both of us killed? Yes, but desperate times call for desperate measures in an effort to keep the whole party alive!
I know its fun to envision our favourite franchises blending, but I think other zombie lore stuff should be left to sandbox or mods. Again this is just my opinion as a long time lover of the game.
As a final aside, if I recall correctly, even that MP character in the clip was ruined by a small amount of zombies: out too late at night, got tired, vision range decreased, and I didn't see the one coming to grab me. That slowed me down, giving the other 2 or 3 zombies in the area time to come in and finish the job. Getting grabbed is the cause of my death like 85% of the time, and in recent patches I THINK the grab was given a little more oomph.
So that's my two cents worth, hope it helps

sir.twiggy reacted to blindcoder in Dirty Water and Saltwater - get sick by drinking from the toilet / rain barrel, collect water from rivers
As the title says, this mod will give you food poisoning if you drink from a toilet or rain barrel.
It also lets you take water from water tiles that you must distill before you can drink it.

    Features of dirty Water:
Get sick drinking from a toilet or rainbarrel Get sick drinking water from a bottle, kettle, bowl, etc. filled from a toilet or rainbarrel Collect water from natural water sources (river, ocean, ponds, etc.) "Dirty" water in a bottle that is filled with "clean" water from a faucet is still considered "dirty" by pollution. Empty your "dirty" bottles before filling in "clean" water from faucets to not get sick anymore. Clean dirty water in containers with Bleach. A bottle of Bleach has 25 uses, one use is necessary to clean between 0.1 and 1.0 units of water.
That means it takes 1 use of Bleach to clean a nearly empty bottle with 0.1 units left, but the same for 1.0 units, so be careful. Boil your water containers on stoves or campfires for at least 30 minutes if you have no bleach. This mod will change how Bleach appears and is handled in the game (it's no longer a Food, but an InventoryItem) and won't replace already spawned instances of Bleach, only new ones.
It also implements stills, coolers and taking water from rivers and beaches.

    Features of salt Water:
Pot stills. And Coolers. You can now collect saltwater from water tiles in any water container (yes, any!). This overwrites the water collection from the dirtyWater mod if both are active. You can pour saltwater into stills and light the fire below them to distill the water. If a cooler is positioned correctly next to the still, it will catch the distilled water. You can fill any water container from the cooler. Cooler changes sprite when it contains water. The rules of water states are:
Adding clean water to clean water gives clean water.
Adding dirty water to clean water gives dirty water.
Adding clean water to dirty water gives dirty water.
Adding saltwater to clean water gives saltwater.
Adding clean water to saltwater gives saltwater.
Adding dirty water to saltwater gives saltwater.
Adding saltwater to dirty water gives saltwater.

    ISSUES
In Build 30, there's an issue with the amount of water being stored. This'll fix itself through this issue: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/tracker/issue-1261-rain-barrel-bug/?gopid=3850#entry3850

    TODO:

    Balancing.
    Make still do something.
    Make coolers do something.
Check for possible bug duplicating stills and coolers.
Make saltwater collectible. But from where? River?

    WONTDO
I will not start calculating the dilution of saltwater to check if it's becoming drinkable.

    COMPATIBILITY
Version 0.9 is NOT backwards compatible to 0.8 and earlier. Too much has changed, sorry.
Version 0.9.5 is NOT backwards compatible to 0.9. The separation of the mods has changed the items category from DirtyWater to SaltWater

sir.twiggy got a reaction from warp in (Crazy World Map) Words of Significance!
    Greetings ladies and gentlemen!
My name is sir.twiggy and I am a twitch TV streamer / youtuber. I write here today in the hopes of attracting the interest of the mapping community at large! I plan on hosting a humongious project zomboid multiplayer server with world wrap. I'm attempting to gather talented people from the mapping community and integrate their work into this project. In the end the map will consist of several contenents, islands, many different terrain types, cities, towns, villages, rivers, lakes, mountains, and more spread across the entire map. The aspect of world wrap is of great importance to the project so that there will never be a map edge, just a mountain, ocean, or some other obsticle preventing easy access, but can still be overcome.
At the moment I am doing massive amounts of planning and approaching specific individuals in an attempt to integrate already existing community created content into the project.
However, if anybody has specific suggestions, requests, or would like to volunteer their help; please reply in this thread, pm me, or send me an email @ sir.twiggy.white@gmail.com.
I am very easy to get along with and I'm eager for submissions! If you want to make a specific area, city, forest, desert, or whatever, go for it! I will personally look at all submissions and we can all work as a group to create the ULTIMATE project zomboid multiplayer map!
In the end I hope to host the server for massive amounts of players. I would love to reach the point where we have dozens of separate player factions spread all across a massive and dynamic world map.
I know this is ambitious but with help from the community I truly believe we can have a one of a kind player experience!
Thank you for taking the time to read about my idea and I truly hope some of you dandy people will be interested or excited about the project!
    Cheers,
