I think "inspect furniture" could be of use - all those doors and barricades hp.  Or alternative sprites to show damage absorbed.

This would be ideal. We'd be forced to put ourselves at risk more by having to look at our defences and replace/repair if necessary.

  2. I never played PZ when Kate, Bob and NPCs were in. I've always thought it'd be cool if TIS just slip them back in one day, without saying anything. You load up your singleplayer save and go out on a looting run. Walk up to a building, minding your own business, when the door opens and someone walks out.

Like Elliott in E.T, I think I'll initially shit myself when I have first contact with NPCs, but after that it'll be fine.

  3. I reached the point where i realize this is going to be an endless debate, we can go back and fowrad telling each other: "Muh lore, nuh uh, huh uh, no u, u, i fite u" and stuff like that in a civil way, but we all know that it doesnt matter what we discuss here, the devs have the final saying and they said from the get go a big red letter No.

Unless a dev comes to tell us why is this the case, this will never end.

So here you get the only thing you can do: mod it, maybe sometime in the future you can mode a gamemode where you can play as a zombie, or maybe have a context menu when you click over a zombie and have "Put Guts over yourself" and that gives you a temporarily the perk Inconspicuous and is removed when either rain starts or some time has passed.

Really that is the only thing people who want zombie camo can do, same goes for people who want special infected or a cure, just mod it, you always have that choice and that choice is yours alone.

Well said. Why should the devs deviate time and effort into coding features that don't fit their vision?

I know this is the suggestions section and have been told before I don't have to visit this part of the forum if it annoys me. On the most part it doesn't, but what does annoy me is when people get so bent out of shape because they've got an idea and not everyone (especially the devs) react with the same enthusiasm.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion and I certainly wouldn't oppress someone for thinking differently or being a maverick. Adamiks, you mention "don't let your dreams be just dreams", but this isn't your dream. This is The Indie Stone's dream and I trust them, as they haven't let me down yet. I don't know about you but when I decided to purchase PZ early access, I thought the agreement was; "I'm sufficiently impressed by the games current state and confident in the devs vision/ability to execute it, that I'll contribute financially to help the game to fruition. In return, I get a ticket to watch the game grow to its conclusion".

Nowhere does that state I can try and dictate the creation progress, or call the devs out when they don't justify, or even acknowledge, my suggestions.

  4. Unless if a place that hasn't been hit was aware and started researching. Yes, it's all a mystery as the game has no background on how it started nor what kind of mumbo jumbo that causes reanimation on corpses. It might be added soon though as they are starting to add traces of the outbreak in the next build. TVs and radios included. Let's hope they add a backstory on how the outbreak started. :)

I'm sure TIS will never reveal the true cause of the outbreak. We'll get descriptions of the ensuing chaos and speculation from the TV and radio broadcasts. Once NPCs are reintroduced, they'll recall rumours of how the outbreak started, but that's all they'll be. Rumours passed from survivor to survivor. Nothing concrete so we're left to our own imaginations.

There should never be a cure/vaccine/temporary fix/magic potion that prevents or delays zombification either. It's not necessary. It would just invite people to abuse the system and live forever. It takes away all necessity to be careful whilst looting or deciding which battles to fight or run away from. The fact one mistake, one lapse in judgement, one piece of misfortune can mean curtains is what separates Zomboid from the other amateur zombie games. Other developers add ridiculous remedies like Antizin/Zombrex because they don't have the balls to say "1 bite and goodnight". I'd be so angry to see Project Zomboid become like every other zombie game.

  5. I apologise in advance.

Just came here to say when I first started following PZ in 2013, I used to really enjoy this section of the forum. Now it's just people bitching either because the game isn't exactly the way they'd like it, or the end game is boring, even though people are well aware the game isn't finished. No one ever bothers to read the commonly suggested suggestions thread and instead write a generic message like: "I searched to see if this had been suggested before but didn’t see anything, but in actual fact, I did jack sh*t and was too busy having a poshy".

Can someone explain to me why people are so fixated on a cure? I've never seen any zombie film/game that has a cure. The only things similar that spring to mind are Zombrex in Dead Rising and Antizin in Dying Light, which if we're being honest, those games are piss takes. I thought the whole idea that made zombies scary was one wrong move spelt disaster. One lapse in judgment, you get bitten and you’re f*cked. Not, “I'm Average Joe. Society is crumbling all around me. There’s bandit’s everywhere. I have no idea how long this food/water will last. I know nothing about medicine or vaccines. I have none of the necessary tools at my disposal AND even I did, I have no idea how to use them correctly, but somehow, I’m going to pull a cure out of my backside”.

I see suggestions like special infected. Great, because that’s never been done before. Another one, make the zombies more powerful/aggressive at night. Why? Why would that ever happen? Basically what people are saying there is "I enjoyed this part of Left 4 Dead/Dying Light/Dead Rising/State of Decay and you should copy their game".

Again, I’m sorry for the rant and will no doubt get a moderator warning as I know we’re supposed to be lovely. People are entitled to their opinions. Call me a hypocrite for bitching about others bitching. Maybe I’m just in the old school of thinking; allow artists to create their art the way they feel is right, and don’t shout from the sidelines “this sucks, do this”. Growing up you’d buy a game, there’d be bits you liked and bits you didn’t. I never once wrote to Sega to complain that Tails only had 2 tails or Knuckles should have been a ferret.

My suggestion is: Keep doing what you're doing Indie Stone.

  6. After seeing countless unspeakable horrors in a zombie apocalypse, I'd imagine the majority of people would be pretty relieved, if not content, farming their days away in relative safety. I agree that the endgame can be quite tedious currently, but the game is not finished yet. From what I've read, there are numerous planned features to rectify this.

  7. I think it'd be incredibly lame if my character died randomly just because they reached a certain age. What age would you deem too old? If we're adding mechanics that take control away from the player and kills the character randomly, why wait until old age? Let's add the chance of your character suffering from a brain aneurysm without warning, or a heart attack. Add the possibility of an anvil mysteriously falling from the sky and crushing your head.

  8. I would like a suppressant of some kind with an extremely low chance of curing you. For example Antizin in Dying light doesn't cure you but delays the inevitable, If this was added with some way of knowing When your infected and how long you have before the suppressant is no longer useable (for example if you was a hour away from turning the suppressant wouldn't work in time to save your life) I would be EXTREMELY happy PLUS, it doesn't brake the golden rule: your going to die, PZ Jesus wont help you, your skill wont help you, NOTHING WILL HELP YOU. What I don't want is a away to end the game or survive the infection without extreme luck.

EDIT: THIS IS NOT A CURE ITS A SUPPRESSANT THERE IS ALREADY A SMALL CHANCE OF SURVIVING THE INFECTION IF THERE WAS A SUPPRESSANT IT WOULD RESTART THE INFECTION AND THE SMALL CHANCE TO SURVIVE

    Zombrex from Dead Rising?

  9. Also if you implement crops that yield good amount of food without need for a farming skill, you remove the necessity for players to add farmer traits during character creation.

I thought the idea of character creation was to be careful when selecting traits and have a bit of forward thinking as to how you'd like that specialist character to turn out, instead of being a Jack of all trades.

  10. No that really isn't how it will work.

No one forgot about animals avoiding people, it just that we know they would eventually start attacking zombies.

I don't think anyone can categorically say "This is how it WILL work". We're talking about a completely hypothetical situation so at best, we can speculate.

Personally, I think animals, just like people, have a wide variety of personalities and experiences so would react differently. Some may attack zombies, some may be more cautious and try to avoid, some may literally shit themselves.

Either way, saying you KNOW how the situation would pan out is farcical.

  11. I think people are forgetting that zombies are the undead and shouldn't be compared to regular folk. They don't feel pain nor are they empathetic to the pain of others. They would continue doing an action long after a regular human would have stopped. When they bite into a person, they do so with complete disregard of their own jaw and the arm of the recipient. They're not even aware they have jaws. This would enable them to bite with a force greater than we can muster. Similarly, when humans bite other people, we're aware of the pain it inflicts of the recipient. This awareness is why most of us (the sane) wouldn't even begin biting someone. Zombies don't care. They just want to eat your brains and gain your knowledge.

I'm generally against armor. Personally, I think it'd make the game easier and being bitten would just be one less thing to worry about. Leather jackets and different types of clothing in relation to keeping warm in winter would be cool. But people talking about kevlar etc, where do you draw the line? Knights armor is a real thing but it would suck if it were in zomboid. Just takes all the risk away.

  12. Just so you know, people never stop developing through life. Old people are just as apt to learn something new as young people; we as a society tend to force these stigma on older people that they can't learn new things.

Well said! Never too old to learn.

To the point on baldness, I have numerous friends who started going bald before leaving college, aged 19. Fortunately, I'm not amongst their ranks but did feel for them at the time. Must have been grim!!

I think our characters should have as many aesthetic changes as the engine can reasonably handle. Why not? Would make each character we play as feel more unique. If these changes/looks can be linked with age, I see no reason not to. I'm sure TIS have their own ideas in mind.

  13. I think those who create art should be allowed to pursue their craft how they see fit.

Not having a go at anyone personally, you're just expressing your opinions but sometimes, I think there shouldn't even be a suggestions page. On one side, i think they're bad because some people get so bent out of shape when their ideas aren't greeted with "that's amazing! let's sack off our vision and hop to it right away", or the feature they want the most isn't made priorty by the devs.

The other side thinks it's awesome we have this place to bounce ideas around, possibly things the devs were unaware of or hadn't considered. They can then act upon a suggestion if they deem it worthy.

When I started playing games, that never happened. Unless you were part of a really selective beta, the first time you'd see anything of a game was when it was complete, on a shop shelf or in an arcade. You'd play it, enjoy bits, dislike other bits. Regardless of opinion though, you'd have zero say it the direction that game took.

Compared to nowadays, thanks to the internet and how easy it is to connect and distribute media, we can all be offered the proposition of; in exchange for a financial contribution which will help the continuation of production, we're invited to watch a game grow and take a gamble on whether the finished article is something we feel is worth the original contribution.

In no way does that contribution allow us to try and dictate how the game is made, or pressure the devs into focusing on elements we want to see first. Its still their art to craft as they please. We're just the kids in the back seat asking "are we there yet?", "drive faster", "can we stop for ice-cream?". Ultimately, it's the driver's decision.

Again, not having a go at anyone in particular. Just my own opinion formed from frequenting the forum for a while now.

  14. Another workaround for this would be having procedural generated maps that go on indefinitely.

Random generated maps is a confirmed "no" on the Commonly Suggested Suggestions thread, pinned to the top of the suggestions page. People are supposed to read it before posting (but annoyingly, no-one ever seems to).

As far as being able to craft everything we need, I disagree. PZ isn't the fantasy land of Minecraft. It's based on a real world location and should have finite resources. If we want to build, we should have to scavenge for the supplies necessary. If there are no supplies left, tough. I do think we should be able to reclaim some nails by dismantling furniture etc. and also, screws should have a lot more uses as an alternative to nails. Nails are mostly mass-produced nowadays and like Spracky said above, the majority of places import from elsewhere.

I disagree with what SliderPro said as well. You can survive indefinitely on a server. We have fishing, foraging, farming to keep us fed and we can now take water from rivers etc. Food and water are essential to survival, nails are not. Just try not to squander your nails and be more selective of when you use them.
