    Hello

Me and my friends recently "finished" a pretty big PZ map project, which is available now for you to enjoy!

This is a stand-alone map release. Pictures etc. are on the Steam Workshop page:

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3008373040

The City of Hairburg is divided into six boroughs.

    The northern Borough of Groveport
    The southern Borough of Goreville
The eastern Borough of Stardust Springs
    The western Borough of Bravington
    The north-central Borough of Foxville
    The south-central Borough of Trelai

You can also play this map, right now, on my multiplayer PvP server! Details in the discord above,  or if you don't want to join discord,  you can just search for "Hairline" in the PZ server browser, and you should find us.  It's winter and snowing in the online version right now, so wrap up warm!

Watch this space, as I also have plans to release:

    A) a version of this map which is connected to the vanilla game map

    and

    B) all the source files for this map, as I would love to see others improve and expand it!!!

I would like to express my deepest thanks to the awesome PZ mapping community,  which I have actually interacted directly with very little due to my shy nature,  but without which this map would not have been possible.  Also super-shoutout to my co-creator Gorebash,  and our principal technical advisor Biggsymalone  (author of Trelai)   who I am not even sure if they are members of these forums yet,  but if not I'll get them to sign up and post soon!

I hope you are having a great day, and that you enjoy exploring this new map!

Not real deep: use broken spears as fuel for fires.

They're made of sticks or planks, and I generate a lot of them using spears.

Pressing this button, perhaps pgup+ should raise your z level so you can see what your character sees on an upper floor. This makes stairs less of death traps, help balance people on higher elevations shooting and overall increase the game quality.

Are you complaining that with practice you can beat a game? What do you think they should add? Left4dead monsters that upon gaining line of sight of you immediately kill you?

If the game is not hard enough for you, open up the sandbox and set the difficulty yourself. Hell, even use a mod that makes zombies run as fast as cars if it is still too easy for your greatness.

For the rest of us, we're happy to get this content. The first thing that comes to mind when I saw this was. "Wow, we could do a map that is 100% forest with no buildings and make civilization." Not. "People might live in the forest and that might be easy- Because living in the forest is already easy and can already be done.

Your just beating a drum complaining about content being added, while claiming no one else can understand your vision. Meanwhile plenty of people have 4k+ hours spent on the game and are much more excited about this content than fighting zombies while pressing the back button for the ten thousandth hundred time.

We released a mod which allows players to build explosives from obtainable materials.
It also implements new explosion mechanic which looks much more realistic and do a real damage to the terrain.
By the other hand, these explosives are much more safier to use rather than most of game build in ones because it doesn't produce fire and will not burn additional areas which players may not except to be damaged.

The mod is released but we are stil in develpoment stage because the area of the develpment is huge and open testings are just started.
We are always open to fresh ideas, bug reports, performance optimizations and everything which could make our mod better and as stable as its just possible.

Jack Bower reacted to ZombieHunter in Making Electricial more Useful ( Powerboxes + Sheds + fuses )
One thing that can add more freedom to the player is the idea of Fuse Boxes + Junctions
These are Divided into Regional Junction which powers an entire neighboorhood
Local Fuse Box - which powers a large building or complex.

A Regional Junction makes it easier for map designers so they don't need to manually add fuse boxes in every single building.
So a bunch of small buildings can be powered by 1 - 3 Regional  regional junctions.

So a player may need to investigate multiple junctions to see which one is broken to fully restore power to the nieghboorhood.
For Large buildings - the Fuse box is located outside the building somewhere but usually needs a key to open.

The idea behind both are the same. If damaged the area they support loses power
Over time these can get randomly damaged - so instead of a fixed time entire state loses power.  These boxes instead randomly are broken or not.
Allows player to restore power to a neighborhood or building.

The "repairing" part can also be a unique minigame which requires placing parts in correct slots
The "quality" of parts is dependent on your electrical skill.
The quality determines how likely it will break again.

In PvP - it means people could disable power to an area.

Jack Bower reacted to PoshRocketeer in Pushing zombies down the stairs, and out of windows.
Would be something special if we could knock zombies down the stairs to do some serious damage and a high probability of creating crawlers. Same for shoving them out of second story windows.

Imagine this, you're tired, you're hungry, and your favorite hammer broke itself off into some random Joe Schmoe's head. You named her Carletta, You kept the haft out of respect.

You make your way into a once nice home, but as you go to shut the door behind you you're interrupted. With your remaining energy you bolt up the stairs and turn to face the small crowd that's followed you inside. You stand atop the stairs, and with everything you have left, you turn to face them. As they approach, you keep pushing, and they stumble back. FInally, one loses its balance and tumbles down, the others are bumped but don't come with it. Over the insatiable groans of famine and disease, you hear a meaty crack as its body tumbles over its head, and it doesn't get up. You keep the rest at arms length, and one by one they begin to tumble down. One takes another with it, but they catch themselves, wedged against the walls halfway down. They're essentially stuck, as both are too stupid to get themselves loose. Another trips over them on its way down, landing on its head. It's still snarling, but it stays down, unmoving nonetheless. You take a nick in the process, probably nothing serious. You're pushed back to the hall, backing around the corner, and you notice the window behind the stairwell. Your exhausted brain gets a devious idea, as the last few begin to stumble up, you push one through the window. It shatters, shards of glass shower you, but bounce off of your leather jacket harmlessly. The zombie snarls fruitlessly before hitting the ground with a sickening thud. You steel yourself, ready for the last pair to climb over the bodies and make their way up. After great effort, they've all gone tumbling down. The ones that are alive are out of commission, they won't be getting up any time soon. And so you leave them, finding a quiet corner to regain your strength.

After a couple of hours of uninterrupted rest, you make your way back to the stairwell, you kick and stomp until the last of the festering cockroaches is dead and gone, and move on to fight another day.

    Sounds pretty cool, right?

The sheet rope thing could be as easy as pressing W and S to direct going up and or down. It can be pretty horrifying when you are clearly climbing into death and there's no way to control your character. / Check where climbing will place you because of how the Z levels function.

Jack Bower reacted to Irken Empire in Being able to reverse the direction on sheet ropes.
To those who don't know/have yet to experience this nonsense when you start climbing the sheet rope you can't stop and go back up nor back down, so in a nutshell once you start climing up you're frozen in a slow animation and if there's a zombie coming he'll evaporate the sheet rope with his eyes and you'll fall down to him/ if you were going down and the zombies were coming you'll have to watch your character slowly crawling his/her way towards the zombies with no way of saving them like for example tellig him to do the oppsoite and go back up the sheeth rope. Also, I know this game is supposed to simulate the colape of humanity and descent to cave man - iron age - medieval period, but there's NO WAY I'd be desperate enough at any point in time to make an unstable trash rope look alike made of my underwear, my neihbours socks and my deceased wife's skirt, I congratulate any "average" Kentuckian who can do this to make an actual working rope thingy able to hold their weight. Worst part is you have actual sturdy ropes in the game that could be 1000% more efficent and realistic with only one use as of now and that is bundling logs :I
There are two things that don't add up and a rework would be appriciated.

Jack Bower reacted to GKuba in Inventory management - Custom categories and less scrolling
    Hello!

All of you know the struggle of searching for one particular item in a long list of things in your car's trunk. Want to grab the gas can from the trunk? Sure, just need to scroll through all the tools, fishing gear and loot first. Or maybe you want to move the currently equipped screwdriver back to your backpack after dismantling that TV? No problem! just scroll through all the equipped clothing first. We've all been there, scrolling through a long list to find something is a big but painful part of this game.

Now there's one method of getting rid of the clutter especially in trunks. Just grab a trash bag or other lightweight container, rename it to "Tools" and put all your tools in it, then put that container in the trunk. This is nice, however you can't take items from a nested container, so now to get your tools you first need to either equip that container or drop it on the ground and then put it back in. This is only a little bit less annoying than scrolling through a giant list of items.

To fix this issue I'd like to suggest implementation of custom categories a player could create. This would work in a following way:
The player can select multiple items in their inventory or a container and right click on them to have an option "Create category". This would bring up a window where we choose our category name. After choosing the name, all of selected items would be collapsed into a single category "item" in the inventory. The created category can be expanded and collapsed to access the items inside in similar way we can expand and collapse a list of many of the same item we have. Items can be added to the category by dragging them into the expanded list, and similarly they can be removed from the category by dragging them out of it. All of the items in the category should behave as if they were normally in the inventory i.e. be available for crafting - categories are meant to help with clutter, they are not containers. Moving a category between containers should not break the category i.e. if I have a hammer and saw in a category "Tools" in my trunk and I drag the category to my inventory I should end up with that category in my inventory with hammer and saw in it. However I should also be able to expand the category inside the trunk and grab a single item from it. Category would be removed by right clicking on it and selecting an option "Remove category", this would return all items inside the category to how they appear in the inventory normally. That being said, taking all the items out of the category should not remove the category itself, it should remain as "empty" category that can accept items back into it.
I would also like to suggest adding an option in the game settings to allow players to choose how many lines they want to scroll through at a time. This is currently set to one line per scrolling step, which is too low.

I hope you like the idea. I'd love to hear what you guys think.

I lost too many survivors to my own camp fire. Once in a blue moon, the character stops burning, and survives. The rest of the time they roast to ashes...

Until the fire reworking by Yuri comes back into development, it'd be cool if wearing full firefighter gear protects the player from catching fire. Just have it take a longer exposure time to ignite, or have standing in a fire with the gear damages it over time to a point it no longer protects the wearer(living or dead) from oxidizing.

Unrelated, but does anyone know if you can use water containers or extinguishers on them selves? I'm loath to try, for obvious reasons. Maybe they do this automatically, and my large amount of fire deaths were characters with empty water bottles? The only logical explanation I could think of why so few survived, and so many more did not.
