  1. Yes they are set to public. There is no AV on the server (dedicated to hosting game servers) and the local firewall is disabled. Thanks for your help. It is indeed a pickle.
  2. Screenshots galore. First Showing the server console with public IP. Second showing in game server settings Third showing the client console Fourth showing the server console. Server shows no signs of anything attemping to connect. The frustrating thing is I made a non-steam server work. I just don't want everyone to have to add -nosteam to their parameters to connect.
  3. Well I am on the same network so per instructions I found I was putting in the public IP, but then also the local IP under the local IP box. I have tried all combinations of local and public IP in both as well as leaving local blank. The console gives a server not responding type error.
  4. Ah no. I have my game servers running with my office network. I have a rack of Servers all running VM's. It's good to be the owner sometimes.
  5. I haven't seen that page. It seems most of those ports are outbound only? I have nothing being blocked outbound. For my inbound rules I have the following.
  6. Ok so I figured I would jump on this topic. I just setup a server, which has been the hardest server I've ever dealt with. I have followed everything already in this thread yet my server still shows as not responding. I had a server working as a non-steam server but I figured I would set it up as a steam server. My screenshots look the same as Nero's albeit with a different public IP. I have a business class internet connection with a block of static IP's I already have a minecraft and terraria server running, although they are not steam servers. Any additional hints? are there IP's that are not included in the instructions above?
  7. Maybe I am in the minority but I'm not a huge fan of the new start menus. If I want to continue a save, I don't like having to drill down through Solo, and then have to remember which type of game it was (first bite, custom sandbox etc) only to then pick my save. It seems it would be better to have a continue save from the main screen which shows my saves that I can see all of my saves chronologically across game types.
  8. I also agree. I came here specifically about the music. The old music was simple and eerie. The new music, for lack of a better term is too "busy" I find it distracting rather than enhancing the gameplay.
  9. The only thing I have been trying to get at, in any of these threads is that there always needs to be a balance between realism and good gameplay. Personally I am willing to stretch a bit of realism in order to have a fun game, especially when some notions of "realism" are snippets of information that may not even be accurate or relevant to the notion of a zombie apocalypse.
  10. First off, if you are going to keep spouting the 30 days thing you will need to back that up. In searching the best I can find is that alchohol blended gas having a shelf life of 90 days but unblended gas having a shelf life of years. Second, I love how everyone it applying real world ideas to a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. At best we can look at books and movies as a source. In most ZA scenarios that I have seen I don't see anyone going to drain gas stations during the pandemonium. Given the number of zombies walking around in a project zomboid game I would venture to guess most people got turned before anyone had a chance for a proper "disaster response".
  11. Personally I think PZ already does a pretty good job. Not that there isn't room for improvement. 1. As with all games there needs to be a balance between realism and good gameplay. For example, I too have an axe that I have owned for decades. While it has lasted a long time, I can also say it can only chop through so many trees before it needs to be sharpened or it becomes so dull it is practically useless. Durability in PZ, or any game is an abstraction that can take these elements into account. A completely dull axe can be akin to being practically "broken". In that vein I don't have an issue with the current durability system. We already have where hammers and saws, for example, don't lose any durability when used to build. 2. While I almost always use stabilizers in my gas cans, I have on occasion forgotten. I have had unstabilized gas sit for 6 months+ and still worked. Not great in some cases but it worked. Given how rare gas seems to be so far in PZ, I think it is ok if it doesn't go bad. But you could add a mechanic where it is less effective the older it gets. Realism vs gameplay. 3. Farming right now is too easy. By the same token I don't think making growing be "realistic" timewise would make for fun gameplay. Personally I just think overall yields should be lowered. It is too easy to grow crazy amounts of food. It would also be interesting if farming seasons were made more realistic, IE making it hard if not impossible to grow through the winter.
  12. I agree with this. Properly crafting a usable bow is not something that would be very easy. But that could be handled similar to other crafter items (yea how long does that crafted axe last?). But learning to shoot a bow is absolutely not hard. Being highly proficient with any projectile weapon against moving targets at range takes practice, but that could be rolled into skills similar to the skills we currently have for accuracy etc.
  13. The only thing I will throw out, is that while I agree the items on your list do need to be cleaned up, I wouldn't say it should come before a double sized map. The only reason being that one doesn't negate the other. IE, unless The Indie Stone was a single person, you likely have multiple people with different skills. So having someone who is doing the map does not necessarily mean the other devs aren't working on different game elements. It is similar in some other games i have played, where the art team may release upgraded graphics. People complain they don't want upgraded graphics at the detriment of other features. But the other features aren't something the art department works on anyhow.
  14. That's not bad was you inside... cause they give sneaky like that died like that a couple of times Nope outside. Generally I hear them coming, or at least have a quick second to sprint away, but she just came up and bit before I even realized it.
  15. And I'm dead. I thought I should get some medical supplies. Was fighting one zombie and a second came up behind me and got in a bite. 1 month 19 hours. Pretty pathetic.
