  1. Th Quote, the simplest way to code it would be to do a get all zombies within x radius (print number on screen) It won't tell you where they are, just give you an idea of the number of zombies possibly hiding in those trees. You make a good point, a trained person would probably still move faster. Though unless you are playing against the runner zombies, the speed bonus through trees wouldn't add much to your evasion ability... You'd still already be easily outrunning the zombies. Maybe running through trees isn't as tiring? Though that might be more difficult to code in. Yeah, that last idea might be something, maybe to take it a step further, rustling through trees/the bush causes noise that attracts zombies (even when sneaking) if not really trained. The problem with it being a sneaking bonus is that it is near impossible to shake a zombie by sneaking once it has a bearing on you... as far as I know... I could be dead wrong though... Those sound like excellent suggestions! Potentially outdoorsmen get a few minor bonuses to make up for it? Like a combination of running faster/less tired? But I really like the zombie 'sign', in that it would make the woods a lot less terrifying if you are an outdoorsmen, knowing that there are only x zombies around.
  2. That is not the point. It's about realism. Also, it's not necessarily easier to build walls etc as they make noise and attract more zombies and also cost resources one may not have. I would stack them. I would stack them high. Regardless of whether or not it is a terrible idea- there are more ways than one to enjoy this game realism.................. realistically, in a zombie apocalypse the last thing you would want is a wall of stinking, rotting, festering, disease ridden corpses all piled up in a wall . would be the dumbest thing you could do, short of walking towards a horde and daring them to try and eat you. I think you missed the point. 1) It doesnt change the fact that wood is not always the most common thing and this is potentially a short-term strategy. Also, if you have ever read the 'Zombie Survival Guide', (upon which this game is based) you will note that zombies actually contain Solanum, the compound that makes them 'zombies' and prevents them from rapidly decaying. As such, having a pile does not instantly mean you get diseased, as they are not instantly rotten. Also, this is could be a downside to using this strategy <- again, because it is a short term fix, not a long term solution. Have you ever had a fort and had 50+ zombies take down your door and burn through all your ammo, leaving you to kill the last dozen in your base with an axe, while hordes more roam in the surrounding forest? Its not exactly the time you want to go putting up walls or making fires, so a short term fix while one recuperates in this situation, it might well be welcome to have a quick, dirty disposable barrier. Penalties to mood or more prone to illness could come with having this as a barricade for a extended period of time. 2) this could be a lot of fun in multiplayer/PvP when building walls is not always an option. Its a good way to lay a trap for someone by piling a whole bunch of zombies in front of a window with only a sheet so they dont see what they are stepping in to. 3) different people have different play styles. Some people lose their mind when society collapses around them and this is one way people could express that. 4) The possibilities! BURNING WALL OF ZOMBIES!!! Kill a bunch and pile them high into defensible positions and then lure more in, light your barricade and blast away with a shot gun from behind it! in future builds, having a bunch of zombies sitting around will in fact make you physically and mentally sick, they have talked about this before. exposure to bodily fluids is a prime source of infection in the game, and you want to voluntarily put yourself in that position by piling up bodies. i know very well the amount of time it takes to move Corpse A over to Location X. it is nowhere near as quick as you make it out to be. as for point 4....................obviously if you have a pile of zombies, you will not be able to shoot THRU them to hit a target on the other side. now try adding fire to this situation, not able to see what is coming, the chance a zombie who is on fire could walk around and cause more fires.........oh yeah, that seems like a good idea to me too. Points 1 - 3 still stand man, also, if they ever get dif level aiming systems working then you can just build yourself a structure. Again, I never said "this is the best defense strategy ever". I know how to survive. This is for shits and giggles. I thought of the same scene when I read the OP haha I like the "slower movement with a fuller floor tile" idea, makes sense. Wall of zombie corpses...not so much sense, not only that, as someone mentioned, the body weights 8 weight or so? so you could only stack 6 bodies up in a single tile, which would amount to all of about 4-5 feet of rotting corpses, you can still see over it and wouldnt really be a wall at all. Also, I really like the idea of cluttered floor tiles, I would like it if I had any likes left! You are right though, probably more of a barrier to slow other zombies down. But it would make sense to have the mechanic because if you stand in your door way hacking down zombie after zombie in the same spot, eventually the entry would become clogged.

  5. Well some crazy redneck probably has one... If you want I can make you a small mod next week so you can have a mace. (That stuff is easy). I'm too busy this week/weekend so... EDIT: Keep in mind though I can't make a sprite that the character holds that looks like a mace due to limitations. It would be a mace in name, inventory icon and stats only. That Sir, would be incredible! You are a kind person for offering, if you are keen then I would most happily accept. There is absolutely 0 rush. I have exams for the next 2 weeks and will not play again till the 14th of November - Just live vicariously through this forum
  6. Maybe the ability (at high level carpentry) to build a house on stilts? Ladders/rope to get up and down and be completely and utterly safe from zombies! Might require a shovel (to dig holes for stilts) and/or cement to hold them in place? sorry if it has been previously suggested bu I couldnt find any links for it, if it has been! Thoughts?
  7. If this has been said and I missed it, I'm sorry and I second it, but: TREEHOUSE!
  8. Agreed! Some off shoots for this could be that continuously sleeping in chairs or on the floor gives you a 'bad back' trait and you can't carry as much and/or you get a heavy sleeper perk that allows you to become fully rested no matter the surface. I have a whole host of back problems, so I can attest to these being realistic problems. I think this is a great idea, though I imagine difficult to implement. This would require the sprites to hold a Rest Value, which I am not sure how difficult that is because I haven't delved into those codes... -- As for the codes, couldn't you just kinda copy/paste the wellfed/eating codes and rename/slightly alter? <- this is the extent of my knowledge about PC gaming. Lastly - Spiffo could = pillow and give you a bonus to your rest
  9. My skills with computers is maxed out with ctrl+P and ctrl+v Thanks for the support, I was thinking Maldorough -I am 90% sure I spelt this wrong- would be a rather small/hick town for it but I want a mace (Or a flail!)
  10. Maybe be able to pile zombies so that you can form a makeshift wall, but if you keep it around too long (particularly in summer) you are more prone to illness? I.e. 5 zombies = small fence that slows zombies down 10zombies = same as shitty wall/ a little less 'life'? Sorry if this has been posted before!
  11. I really like the concept but you would need to have an extremely rapid rate of skill advancement otherwise the risk of using the trap > than advantages of it. Alternatively, you could tone down the damage or make the risk of it snapping on you much less. I don't think it is that hard to set a trap either but maybe you could balance it by making it so that you are more likely to catch something in your trap if you have a higher skill?
  12. I like the idea but on the same token, I agree with: It would make storage and inventory management a lot more time consuming and I don't feel like that would be all that much fun I know sprinting away with 20kg is ridculous but but on the same token, it would be such a pain in the ass to have to make multiple runs to the same place. This would some shit extraordinarily tedious!
  13. First off: Sorry if this have been made before, I haven't seen it. And if it has been made it a good idea. This is just for the idea of the addition of a building. I have always had it in my mind that, were there a Zapocolypse, that one of the first places that I would raid would be the local museum because they have a whole bunch of classic weapons (e.g. swords -katana, long-sword, etc -, medieval axes, clubs/maces, as well as old school muskets and armour). This would also be a fairly heavily defended site I thought. Thoughts and suggestions? I know that they weren't planning on putting in the items I suggested but this is a realistic case as to why some of that stuff might exist.
  14. First off: Sorry if this have been made before, I haven't seen it. And if it has been made it a good idea. I was thinking that there should be varying levels of rest. That is, you should get a small bonus (similar to the one you get for being well-fed) for resting in a bed as compared to a chair or a couch and maybe get a small penalty for resting in a chair. Also, you should be able to sleep on the ground, especially if you have say blankets/sleeping bags, which I do believe has been proposed, here: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/10914-blankets-sleeping-bags-maybe-even-a-snuggies/?hl=%2Bsleep#entry140908 Thoughts? I was thinking like a slight boost to healing, stamina, and how long till you feel drowsy again for a good nights sleep in a bed v.s. sleeping on the floor with a shitty blanket = more prone to sickness, minor pain?, reduced stamina, etc
  15. This is slightly off topic but as for hidden loot what about a hidden fallout shelter or two spread around the map? They could be full of good stuff and maybe generate randomly at a handful of different locations?
  16. ORMthMan, I like the tracking idea but I feel like it would be hard to implement? Any ideas on that front. I know that trees are the only thing that slow one down at this stage (apart from Zd's) but you would also be suprised at how often my townie friends seem to find every single branch/root to snag themselves on, even those that aren't in their path! Maybe still have penalty but just decrease it. e.g. an outdoorsmen gets 50% of the penalty that other characters do? I just want to be an outdoorsman, but it feels like the worst profession because you dont seem to get any real bonus! Thanks for the replies! Its nnice to see I am not alone Just had another thought! Maybe outdoorsmen get a bonus to sneak/losing zombies when they go bush?
  17. Outdoorsman Proposal This may already have come up or the perks of being a park ranger already modified to amount to something substantial, but I thought (as an outdoorsman myself) that maybe giving outdoorsman more rapid movement through trees and tall grass than normal? I know I always leave townies behind in the bush and park rangers seem to move with the devil at their heels when they need to. I don't think the same exact speed as when not in woods is fair but like a small speed boost relative to Z's and other NPC/PC's maybe? Or maybe give them better sight/hearing in the woods? – This doesn’t seem as feasible though and is really just a side thought. Open to criticism and improvements!
