I really like this idea... but lil worried it could make the game too easy? *water barrols/bathtubs and all the other things you can store water in. I'd like to think you could store the water in a bathtub but after a while you would have to boil it over a fire before you drink it. Say more than 1 month and it goes stail or dirty.

For me id probably choose the unemployed trait if it gave me say 4 extra points to spend on a trait of my choice... say i choose unlemployed... but then you can add lucky or something miner to the character.

OP is saying you should be able to fill the bathtub with water from any bottles, etc that you are carrying.  So, for example, you could go from house to house and take all the leftover water from sinks/toilets/tubs, then bring it home and put it in your tub.

Alternatively, you could use it as a backup to rain collector barrels.  So you move the water from the barrel to the tub.

    Place/Landmark: Train Wreck
Where: On the train tracks, somewhere possibly where it ran into road vehicles and derailed itself.
Reason it'd rock: Who doesn't love trains? Would also stop thousands of people complaining about not being able to drive the train, and you could add very interesting things to the wreck, like anything from fertilizer or electronics to chemicals that are dangerous to your health. Making the wreck a potentially toxic area that you cannot spend too much time in, something that would probably slip the mind of any newbie survivor that is too focused on just surviving from zombies. I'd enjoy more unique environmental hazards and/or benefits for sure..
Zombie Density Expected: Depending on what type of train it was and what it ran into, I would say between low and medium.

There are some really cool ideas in this topic already! I have to say I trust the map makers and can't wait for what they bring in the future but I would love to mention a place I'd like to see in there

    Place/Landmark: Harbor
Where: Somewhere on the Ohio River, maybe closer Louisville or even in it (when it's added).
Reason it'd rock: While it's not confirmed I hope we eventually get boats to travel across the river with or even canoes to travel down the creeks in and I think it would be pretty cool to have a small harbor near or in the city. It could be harder to get to as many people would be thinking to grab a boat after the zombies hit, making it a deadly place full of them. And of course most the left over boats wouldn’t be set to sail right away without some sort of fueling or repair.
Zombie Density Expected: High density without being too high like the Mall was at times. The fact that it would have a lot of narrow docks to walk down would make a lesser amount of zombies more dangerous then they would be in an open area.

Ah I have another one I'd enjoy

    Place/Landmark: Crash landed Airliner
Where: Cornfield or riverbank, maybe even on a highway, wherever seems like a logical place a pilot would try for or just short of that.
Reason it'd rock: Unique supply rich location where high value loot can be found, survival rations and flares, radio equipment, and pretty much the whole cargo hold that made it. The cool thing is the more intact it is the more 'living' zombies you would have around, and with large aircraft if the landing was soft enough you could have upwards of a hundred of them ON the plane without even considering the number lured to it.
Zombie Density Expected: Relative to how intact the craft is, quite high.

This is a strategy the military aplies when preparing for long urban combat. They fill the bath tubs with water so they have enough for weeks even after the water goes 'down'.

It would be an easy, short action that adds a little 'smart survivor trick' to the gameplay. Wouldn't be too much work to add to the game.

So after having my best game ever (36 days until I decided to stick around a house with the alarm going off) I decided to start a game in West Point. Holy crap. I dunno when the zombie density skyrocketed but I'm running from constant hordes, stabbing, shooting, breaking into houses, grab a bag of chips then burst out the door, stab, stab, repeat. Its all very spartan and cool, but having to go through character creation each death gets tiresome. Could an instant respawn be implemented? Randomized character, proffession and attributes. I'm just saying in an enviorment this chaotic it would be an awesome feature to be able to just repeat drop into instant action.

I remember when sims first implemented snow and you walked outside and it was like "Oooooo pretty" xDxD lol. In project zomboid i think it would look amazing. Not crazy amounts of snow but just a blanket of snow to show that its middle of winter.. I can just imagine you walk outside and its all white with lil snow flakes falling and then you see thousands of lil footprints... and you know there a zombie horde near by. Your cold n there zombie footprints but you need food.. =)

    First of..

    Hi =)
I would really like to see some ways to armor yourself against the undead. Perhaps a more indepth clothing system. Where you can make "armor" from things in your surrounding. For example: A magazine turned around your wrist would prevent bittings/scratchings there. (World War Z)
I also thought about degrigation on the things you wear and the factors played from that. Like if you have dirty clothes, your unhappyness will fall. Just an example.
I really aint that guy that are focused on grapichs, tho I would really like to see some form of upgrade in the inventory system and your character screen. As if you get scratched on your leg, the pants on that part will rip and you would have to patch it up or find new pants. I feel there is alot of things that could come out from this  so if someone is interested in disscusing things, I would much so join!
this is my first post in this forum so, pipe down the hate

Great game btw! Alooooooot of potential.

    Hi everyone,

I was reading through this thread about gardening without tools and I liked the idea very much.
As I was thinking about the suggested idea I thought about possible ways of somewhat "punishing" the player for digging around in his backyard with his bare hands as gardening without tools seems kind of mighty to me in comparison to the current system where you first have to find certain tools before you can get going with your farming.

    My suggestion is:

    - running around in the same clothes for weeks or months gets your clothes dirty and worn out (like everytime a zombie maybe grabs you there is a small chance of your clothes getting torn or ripped)
    - smashing tons of zombies gets your clothes dirty (think about all the blood and guts ;D)
    - doing gardening (see thread mentioned above) will get your clothes dirty as well

This would be possible results of dirty/worn out clothes:
    - you get unhappy and uncomfortable
    - clothes in bad condition obstruct your movement/slow you down

To remove these bad effects one would have to either wash his/her clothes (maybe crafting water bottle + dirty sweater or sink/bath tub + dirty clothes) or find new clothes. Clothes you loot from zombies of course are dirty and in a bad condition from the start, stuff you find in houses has a high chance of being clean and in good condition.

This would - in my opinion - add to the realism of PZ without going too far (like another suggestion I read about having to go to the bathroom from time to time etc. to what the devs already said no)

Let me know what you think (and please be kind as this is my first thread in this forum)

sandbox weather/season options +1 for that one.

That takes away all the debate of everything... if you wanna make a cold north map, more winter than summer then go ahead.. but the story mode stays what ever it is in real life... Should prolly thought about that one sooner xD

You're breaking the number one rule around here. It's obvious you're just trying to bait him now. If you're also going to debate what someone said, you should probably read all that they said rather than just going for the one or two posts.

I can understand where Rathlord is coming from regarding the snow and it does make sense. What if they had it so Survival had a realistic weather pattern, while with Sandbox you could dictate the amount of Snow and what happens in each season? I mean there is a basic form of weather control in the sandbox start up already, so... why not?

A reasonable suspension of disbelief is required when playing a game centered around surviving a zombie apocalypse. Zombies.

Why would it be so far fetched having light snow in a place that gets an average of six inches? Which is still a decent amount. It would not only add to the atmosphere, but give the player a sense of place and time in the world. It could also add more risk when venturing out due to increased noise levels when walking in snow.

Look at Don't Starve. Don't Starve lets the player know what time of year it is in many ways. One of them being environmental changes. This change adds a lot to the players state of mind. Your first Winter is horrifying. You don't know how long it will last. You don't know the best ways to stay warm. You don't even know if you'll have enough supplies to last you through Winter. And venturing out too far can be extremely dangerous. But that feeling you get when the snow starts to melt... Pure relief.

A white Winter would add so much. Hell, seasonal changes all around would. Knowing what time of year it was based on flowers blooming or leaves falling.

I'm sorry, but calling that logic is equivalent to calling a banana an orange.
One can't simply judge the price of a game by content. Business model, scope, team size, and development costs must be taken into account.
Your post shows a complete misunderstanding of the economics of game development. While you may think you know what you're talking about as a gamer, but that doesn't qualify you to make judgement calls about a game's price.
If PZ isn't worth the money for you, don't buy it, but I assure you that for the many, many, many people who have puts hundreds if not thousands of hours into this game, it's completely worth it.
Te biggest fallacy of all, though, is that you think *your* perceived value of a game should dictate is worth. That shows not only a shocking amount of not understanding the game industry, but also a fundamental misunderstanding of the most basic tenets of economics and value in general.
