  1. Both of us are on the latest IWBUMS. We were planning on trying the regular version soon but have not gotten round to it yet.
  2. Immediately prior to going onto multiplayer, my colleague was playing singleplayer fine. After our attempt at multiplayer, he hopped onto singleplayer again and it worked "Like a charm" (his literal words) without changing any settings from what he used in MP. I myself am on a 200 mbit/s cabled connection. I am not entirely sure about his network setup, I'll ask him tomorrow. Also, the physical distance between the two of us is about 10km. Perhaps I should more clearly state that it was his game that was primarily lagging. I don't know how accurate his comment was, but it was along the lines of "I'm getting 1fps here". This was immediately after spawning in.
  3. Hello, I recently introduced a colleague of mine to Project Zomboid and he jumped right in after playing the demo for only an hour. So, as could've been expected, we immediately wanted to jump into some multiplayer and see how long we'd live. It was however not to be, since my colleague started lagging immediately upon joining. I myself, as the host, was not bothered by anything. I am running with an i7-8700k, GTX 1080 and with 16gb of RAM (10 allocated to the server). My colleague has an i3-2120 and a GeForce 510, so it's by no means a powerful PC. He however does have 6gb of RAM and has absolutely no problems running solo. We were running without mods on a fresh world. Zombie settings were normal, we only had the shamblers enabled. We already tried disabling 3d models and there was a slight improvement, but it was still unplayable from my colleague's perspective. Is there any fix we can apply to make this workable?
  4. This house is completely devoid of loot, any kind of loot. Not even the stuff most people leave (belts, newspapers, books) is left. Might be a bit of a bug or just a randomly completely empty house. Furniture is there, so it's not like it's a "moving" house. *edit* The small garage to the left of it does have loot again.
  5. My goal is to try long term with vehicles at this moment. I've already lost four saves in the attempt, so it's not that I don't know what I'm getting in to. But what I meant, is that I'll just wait for this particular bug to get fixed before I continue. No use in continuing right now when the bug that was obstructing my progress is not yet fixed.
  6. I'll stop playing for now then, before I again get to a point where I'm in the process of securing a base, only to have my car with stuff in it launch into space.
  7. Not a bug. Was a realistic feature. https://sleepfoundation.org/sleep-topics/drowsy-driving And sadly, it appears that vehicles already on a different z-axis remain there. I'll start a new save (again!) to confirm if the problem remains otherwise.
  8. Please, please, please fix this bug. It's very game breaking when my car goes up floating on me while all my loot was stored in the back. The first time it happened, it was near the fire station and I could get my loot out using cheats. But now, it's floating near my safehouse.
  9. That may be intentional and not a bug. When that police car is driving behind you, and you look in your rear view mirror, the text will tead POLICE, because it is now mirrored. Some countries or departments use it. I'd paste an image of an ambulance that has it but I am on my phone. Just google "ambulance front" and you'll see.
  10. I understand that, but police departments rarely change colour scheme for their vehicles. The LAPD (black and white) and NYPD (blue and white) for example have used the same colours for decades now. Thus a modern Muldraugh cruiser could give a hint to their livery in the 90's. There's not a lot of other sources available on Muldraugh PD... if you can call 4 officers that...
  11. This might be working as intended. Not all doors have a lock where only one side requires a key. In all honesty, I have rarely seen a lock in real life which requires a key on the outside but has a switch or something on the inside. And the times I saw it, I recall it being in a retirement home. Might be different for the USA, but I think it's pretty workable.
  12. Based on the very grainy images google streetview gives, I'd concur with the white for Muldraugh PD. Although, in real life, Muldraugh does not really have a very big police department. From what I've been able to find, they right now employ 4 officers. So I don't think that real life can be a source here, since I think they don't have a dedicated squad car. I've been able to find an image of a West Point patrol car, which was all blue, no gold involved. On the topic of Knox County... I have found out that Knox County isn't anywhere near where the game is set. Knox County is here; Which is very close to the border Tennessee, to the south. The game is actually set in Meade County, which is here; Which would make it the Meade County Sheriff's Department. And those guys roll in silver cruisers.
  13. You actually beat me to linking this by just a minute. I think it'd be great if a few police cars could be turned dark blue, like the Kansas State Troopers occasionally have. But they primarily appear to have white patrol vehicles.
  14. Like Lexx said, you are in the passenger seat. The 12 o'clock button is the "Swap seats" button, it'll get you in the driver seat and then you can start the car. The steering wheel is on the left side of the vehicles, since the game is set in the United States. There's no British vehicles.
  15. Well, if that's the case, I guess I am very much out of sync. As I was convinced that the majority of the community is like "Yeah fair enough" about the no to children and babies thing, because of the possible controversy surrounding it. Also, personal hygiene, in the form of having to go to the bathroom and things like that, is something a small minority wants. There's a broader interest in things like shaving, washing blood off (see animation video), but it's far from an outcry. Same deal for the zombie beasts (plz no). Though not explicitly written down, the virus affects humans, not animals. That's how the lore envisions it and I don't think that a whole lot of people want to see zombified bloodhounds. Wild animals to hunt or pets to care for are a different story I believe. The last point is the only one I can see a larger portion of people wanting, simply because it was g(l)orified in the first season of the walking dead. But that does not mean that the developers have to implement something like that, seeing as we have no explanation on why the zombies target living humans to begin with and as such, there's no guarantee that "camo" would work.
  16. Please name a few, since I've been unable to find any no's from the developers that the majority of the community has been screaming for.
  17. Confirming that there's something wrong with the heater. Just started a game for the purpose of testing this. Temperature set to very cold and, for added coldness, took off all the clothes. Entered the vehicle on the "Freezing" moodle, started the engine, turned on the heater and started driving. Got hypothermia.
  18. You can press "N" to make the vehicle start. No need to open the radial menu.

    May Dayoid

Perhaps an optional feature comparable to the way Zomboid handles reloading of firearms. I used to always have it on easy, until I discovered that I found manually loading magazines much more fun.
  20. Your friend will have to check what version of the game he is on, it's visible on the main menu, bottom right corner, just above the menu selections to "host, join", etcetera. It's likely your friend will have to upgrade to the latest version, as I believe that no downgrades (except to the latest stable branch) are possible.
  21. Zombies are kind of in de habbit of knocking, but not using the door knobs, opting instead to break down the door. So jamming a chair against the door to keep zombies out is kind of useless, since they don't use them like we do. Against other survivors in MP I can see use for this. But not so much in the scenario you described.
  22. As someone who purchased the game in 2013, when the original Baldspot and Kate tutorial was still a thing (pillow ), I completely understand. I purchased the game as it was back then and could not have imagined that it would've gotten this far when I put it in my desura shopping card. I only later found out about all the other planned features. The idea is simply a source of knowledge for the game, upcoming and present. Perhaps I should flesh out the example so that there's no mistaking of how I envision what I suggested. Notice that it contains no new information that could not be found in the mondoids, it just puts it all together on one page. (And please ignore any formatting errors, I just copy+pasted from the mondoid to slap this example together. Links are bound to not work.) Title: Usable Vehicles Developers: EasyPickins, General Arcade Status: In development Summary: The introduction of various kinds of 3d vehicles in the game, both static (abandoned, broken, crashed) and usable. V for Victor (and Vehicles); February 27, 2017 Here In My Car; March 6, 2017 In My Garage; March 13, 2017 Under the Hood; March 20, 2017 Spiffin’; March 27, 2017
  23. A roadmap would be more like; April 2017: Release of vehicles update. May 2017: Release of animation update. June 2017: Release of Space exploration. A feature documentation, which simply lists the already available information in a single spot so that a person does not have to search all over, is very different from a roadmap in that it states information already available, not introduces new information or lay anything out that isn't written down elsewhere.
  24. You should not compare this to a roadmap for the development off Project Zomboid. The section I propose should only contain features and information related to these features that has been publicly mentioned in the mondoids and is thus already available to those that seek it out. To illustrate; V for Victor and Vehicles Here in my car In my garage Under the hood Spiffin' All of these mondoids contain information on the vehicles (I think I missed one...). If a person would want to know all there is to know about the vehicles, he or she would have to search through the mondoid archive and find all of these. Although all these mondoid titles relate to vehicles in some way, (and they are luckily very recent so they are all done in a row) other subjects in these mondoids aren't always obvious. For example, under the hood primarily deals with vehicles, but also features an update on the new animations. A player looking for information on the vehicles will find it in under the hood, but a player looking for the animations might not immediately look in a mondoid that appears to primarily contain information about vehicles. My suggestion is simply a quality of life improvement for those seeking information about the game, for those who want to build their hype to a bit higher levels (me). Not to force the developers to commit to a roadmap or anything.
  25. Let me start by stating that the "problem" I will be addressing in this post is not one I necessarily share, though it is something I ran in to when recently returning to the game after quite a long hiatus. I'd say that this suggestion is more for the benefit of others. The thing in question is that, aside from the wiki (which can be barebones on some articles), Project Zomboid lacks a centralized section with a list of its features, implemented and under development. Although the weekly mondoids do a very good job of bringing development updates and news to the player base, their "all-news-we-have" structure can make it very hard to track down a mondoid where a specific piece of information was mentioned. This can be especially confusing to new players who have either recently purchased the game or are considering doing so, since, although the forums are loaded with references to "animation update", "NPC update" and "vehicle update", only the latter has been mentioned in-depth in the last few mondoids. It'd be a shame when this category of (potential) players is put off the game by the perceived lack of information regarding upcoming or implemented features, even though the information is readily available if one knows where to look and has the patience to do so. My suggestion is therefore that a new forum section is created, with a title something akin to "PZ Features", where a new topic is created for the largest new/old game systems as they are announced and developed. There can be a topic for the NPC update, one for the Animation update, one for the Vehicle update, but also one for the already implemented Erosion system, and so on. The idea is that in these topics, a few quick details about the feature are described so that anyone who has not read the mondoid that originally mentioned the feature can still read up on it without having to search through the mondoid archive. So, for example; Title: Space Exploration Developers: John Doe, Jane Doe Status: In Development, awaiting implementation of vehicle update. Summary: The space exploration feature will see zombies to expand through the solar system, allowing the player to craft their own spacecraft and fight the undead on the surface of the moon, or any other planet in the solar system. [Insert all other information, videos or images based on the information provided in weekly mondoids, irrelevant of the date they were posted, so a complete guide/description/status update is created on the feature] I hope this will make it easier for all potential, new and old players to stay updated on everything the game has to offer at the moment, or will offer in the future. *edit: Noticed the way I structured a sentence made it seem like no information has been provided about NPC or animations. Fixed that. *edit2: I am also very well aware that the Build Status Article on the project zomboid website essentially does a bit of what I just described. My suggestion is intended to go further by making all mondoid information readily available, which will allow a person to understand the full picture or circumstances behind any potential delays.
