my opinion about project zomboid after 2 months+ of survival: (sorry for my low level of english) bugs and missing features in my official desura version: 1)teleporting crops 2)unable to create rope 3)unable to destroy with sledgehammer 4)no rain barrels 1) best profession: park ranger your biggest enemy is rain. rain can pin you down when you need moving you can get bored you can catch cold beacuse of the rain as a park ranger you can also get prone to sickness trait and still not be ill during whole gameplay (except eating rotten food of course) 2)best traits: strong (youre willing to carry as much as possible light eater (you can survive your day on 1-2 forrest berries) 3)most important item at early stages of the game: tent kit create tent kit as soon as possible. its more important that any weapon. (you dont need to fight zombies. you can outrun them or you can hide) with the tent you can go where you wish easiest way to finding parts for building your tent is NW city warehouse with brick wall. 4)best hideout/fortress: NW city warehouse with brick wall. lot of supplies there buildings for additional looting nearby more than one entrances roof shielded from view with brick wall possibility of farming forest nearby 5)best weapon: your choice. i like axe. 6)most entertaining weapon: shotgun and pistol 7)leveling: no need to level cooking, farming and carpentry cooking - youre spending too much resources during cooking not canned food will be spoiled after cca 17 days into survival farming - im unable to farm in my official desura version (teleporting crops) but i still see no point getting into it. to make decent food, you need to have more than one farmed food(if youre eating say only broccoli, your character will be not much happy about it). so youre again spending too much food for one day. water will stop flowing after cca 17 days into survival. you will still find some water in sinks and toilets. and after day or two the small amout will emerge in the same sink again. but still - water is more precious than spending big amounts of it for keeping your farm well watered. carpentry - yes, you can build great fortress. but for what? zombies will be knocking on your door one day and you have three options: a) stay inside you will get bored, so you need to have lot of books, newspapers and diaries they will come after you at some point b)you need to distract them take your shotgun/pistol and lead them as far as possible from your fortress/hideout. you dont need great fortifications for that. just to be sure youre not camping in building with glass walls (like malls and supermarkets) c)move somewhere else. live there for a while and if you want come back later carpentry is good for two things: your charcter is occupied/going to bed tired so he never gets bored and creating crates for items. if you dont like messy rooms:) fast leveling: killing zombies with shotgun ligh footed sprinting items i still dont have: bags. im still walking with plastic bags i have more than two axes, i know where two sledgehammers are, but no bags for me so far:) suggestions: metagames and diaries- this game is isometric dayz for me. im discovering world, distant farms, looting buildings nad i would liek to see more content in there. to think about fates of dead survivors, about fates of zombies. not only flatland- i understand that this is maybe because of technical limitations of engine but if not, some hills will be great more triggered events - for examle big forest or city fires or mercenary raids overall impression: this is great game for very small ammount of money. you will get lot of entertainment for 5 euros. when youre suriviving for too long and you know all the map, every building and every item, you will get bored and replayability is small. but thats the problem of every game i think. good luck with your game!
