The first version of the Mapping Guide is coming in two days, I hope. It will explain a lot of stuff in detail. At least I think so.

All buildings are free to use and manipulate.
I distribute my buildings in ".zip" files containing ".tbx" and ".tmx" files.
I work with Dropbox, so you can easily click the name of the building and download it. No adds included!
All buildings are fully furnished

Random Mapzoid: UNFORTUNATE SUBTITLE v0.60
Mapzoid is a little utility provided for the purposes of generating arbitrary, organic looking BMP files to use as the input for the WorldEd BMPtoTMX feature. It works alongside EasyPickins' Mapping Tools, hopefully fairly well.
It's currently in a fairly workable state, but I would appreciate some feedback, bug reports and general feature requests that anybody can think of. I'm personally not exactly swimming in spare time, but I will do what I can to fix any bugs or anything that may be raised.
The Python Code, or Windows Executable Package, can be found in the links below.

mendonca reacted to Veged in Veged's building archive: Added an ArmA 2 fire station
Free for all
This mod can be added to and extended by the whole community. Crediting the original author would be lovely, but isn't necessary.
(Then again, this community values loveliness above all else.)
The finished buildings and downloads can be found here: Veged's finished buildings thread
Hi guys,
since the tools have been released i was thinking the game could need some more houses. So I decided to build some for the Mapping people out there
This is my first attempt and it's based losely on the house I grew up in.
It's not finished yet, since i am trying to get the hang of it, but maybe you want to give your opinions on the design.
Also there is going to be a second entrance from the future backyard.
I keep this thread updated and eventually post the download links here.
So, yeah. That's about it for now. Tell me what you think.
Bye

mendonca got a reaction from PsychoEliteNZ in Random Mapzoid: Random Bitmap Terrain Generator (Python / Win Exe)
Oh yeah, this is to be encouraged. There's nothing special about the .png files that this program generates.
Just make sure you use VERY SPECIFIC colours, don't blend things, don't jpeg-> png or anything like that.
Basically colours need to exactly match those in the bmp->tmx rules.

mendonca reacted to Orbital121 in Adding Maps To The Game
So i know some people have been experimenting out with map making using the now zomboid Map-editor that was recently put up for download. After several hours of trailing through the options i've found, and successfully added a new map cell to the game (Overwritten) and would like to help you other people out there, so we can see some great maps! (ish!) So here you go:
Just in case some of you missed those brackets up there, this is replacing the cells in the game already; so don't test it out on a really good save file, kay? (Plus I wont be held responsible if you mess up your save!) If in doubt, back-up your save!
Now, here's the tutorial:
Saving the file:
after making your lovely artwork of mapping mastery, remember you cant just dump the ".tmx" file in there; the game doesn't like that (I have tried and it didn't load the map!) so you'll need to convert it to the file it can read, the ".lotheader" and ".lotpack" files! to do this follow these instructions:
Go to file, then go down to "generate lots" and select either the selected cell or all cells (in the image I'm only doing one cell, so it doesn't matter)
Select a location to save these files to, that you will remember!
Now you should have the two file types that are used! congratulations!
Putting it inside the game:
Most of you are here for this; adding the cells to the map, or making your own map provided you make it large enough. So lets cut to the chase; you're basically replacing cells here, so the one I picked is in the north of Muldraugh, to the south of the pancake house. This cell in the files was "35_32.lotheader" and "35_32.lotpack" so guess what i did to put it in to that location? Well first i backed up those two files. Next i just renamed my new cells and replaced them! simple, no? you don't have to use the cell i used, but if you pick one in the middle of a forest, you'll have to travel there!
And here is the finished result for me:
-see the bottom of the post-
So now I hope to see some cracking new areas to Muldraugh and Westpoint! and if you want a complete tutorial on how to create your own town from scratch, just say and ill get to work
P.S - Only my second post to the forum; dunno how to post images here's the imgur link to them: http://imgur.com/1rjaRYE,jF4HTxR#0
Further note; if it asks for a zombie spawn map image, check in the "rawmap" folder in your tools folder (the mapping tools)

mendonca reacted to LeoIvanov in 5 story apartment
Alright, so, I saved the buildings in tbx format. The archive contains three files :
Apartment_NW_LEFT_Finished.tbx
Apartment_NW_MID_Finished.tbx
Apartment_NW_RIGHT_Finished.tbx
As follows, "LEFT" is a left edge of a building, "MID" stands for the middle block, you can copy and paste this one as long as you want, and "RIGHT" is the ending, a.k.a the "right edge".
To avoid artifacts when combining buildings together (the buildings collide and a line of wall dissapears in the middle), I'd advice placing the apartment starting from "RIGHT" and all the way down to "LEFT". That way walls don't seem to collide, glitch or dissapear.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/avq8oj2vgjjfa83/NW%205%20storey%20Apartment.rar - link to the file, you can use the building in your maps as much as you want, just make sure not to claim it as your own, and I'll be fine

mendonca got a reaction from turbotutone in Random Mapzoid: Random Bitmap Terrain Generator (Python / Win Exe)
Yeah, it would!
I think it would be fairly straightforward to add a button that assigns buildings to the sub-zoned regions built as part of the 'pave the world' function.
However, I never got round to figuring out the way the files read in all the relevant information for the world / building lots etc. so I never even tried to get it working.
Fancy a crack at it?

Very nice program!
Im guessing with proper prefab buildings (or segments even) it would be possible to populate the towns as well?
