  1. I made several playthroughs in survival mode in Nutrition Test Build and IWBUMS Build 34.13+ with more than 3 months of survival. My latest test focused on self sufficiency in Build 34.13. I tried to live off farming, foraging and trapping. I managed to gain weight back after I reached cooking level 6. A detailed report can be found here and here. When winter set in I started losing weight again, but that was expected cause there are no foraging supplies anymore and farming efficiency is reduced. I still have plenty of high-caloric non-perishable foods so I can stop the weight loss at any time. My weight is about 68kg and winter is almost over even without eating convenient foods. Overall I think the nutrition system is working. It is hard cause you really need to focus on food supply a lot. But at least you are not doomed to die well fed cause of lacking calories all the time.
  2. I finally managed to gain weight back with self sufficiency and cooking level 6! I continued my playthrough and lived off food gained by foraging, trapping and farming. In the beginning my weight dropped constantly for about 4 weeks (cooking level 4 & 5). When I reached cooking level 6 I started to get weight back with 3-4 stir fries a day + some berries. It is still hard to keep the weight cause you are buisy with managing farms and traps and cooking almost all the time. But it seem to work at least at high cooking levels. I will not die before winter cause of weight loss . Here are the stats:
  3. I made another attempt on longterm survival in Build 34.13. I tried to be self-sufficient as soon as possible. Female character Profession/traits: park ranger, hemophobic, hypochondriac, weak stomach, slow reader, sleepy head, prone to illness, runner, herbalist, lucky Survival mode Summary: It is easy to manage the weight with convenience food. If you have enough ice cream and mayonnaise you can even easily gain weight back. But after electricity shut down it's getting much harder to keep the weight. It is still not possible to just rely on food gained by foraging, farming and trapping and keep your weight. Although I managed to ate 4 stir fries with a hunger reduction of 100+ each day for almost 2 weeks my average calories are still too low and my weight decrease slowly but constantly. I had 2 days within those weeks when I had to wait for the next harvest and was peckish or hungry once a day. I wasn't able to forage enough to keep the hunger moodle away all the time on these 2 days. The rest of the time I was usually well fed or fed.
  4. Either there is a separate "craving for carbs and sweet food" moodle or this is shown by the normal hunger moodle. I guess for game mechanic it might be better to have it separate otherwise people get confused if a hunger moodle pops up shortly after or at the same time the well fed moodle is shown. If it is bind to the normal hunger moodle then the moodles for well fed need to be tied to calories intake as well.
  5. You are right for the normal hunger but there is also a kind of hunger feedback from your body if your blood glucose level is too low. Then you start craving for sweet and high carb food which is experienced as a kind of appetite or hunger feeling. If I only eat cellery and do some excercise I will surely experience that after 24 hours on that diet and this feedback is missing in PZ.
  6. Another month in 34.11 (char with normal weight): 1. week: hungry 2 times after long looting trips, food: pizza, steak, salads with various meats and vegetables averageCalories=-2161.09 caloriesMax=799.9744 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=5 totalStarvingPercentage=3 totalNormalHungerPercentage=93 totalExoPercentage=15 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=90 survivalTime=188.2165046914015 weight: 76.35 2. week: no hunger, same food as in week 1 averageCalories=-2180.295 caloriesMax=799.9744 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=5 totalStarvingPercentage=0 totalNormalHungerPercentage=94 totalExoPercentage=17 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=85 survivalTime=367.60621910516056 weight: 72.07 3. week: no hunger, ate a lot of stir fries made of various meats and salads of all perishable foods cause of electricity shut down at day 14 averageCalories=-1741.748 caloriesMax=1220.6498 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=8 totalStarvingPercentage=0 totalNormalHungerPercentage=92 totalExoPercentage=17 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=89 survivalTime=504.15722646345966 weight: 70.03 4. week: sometimes hungry, food: berries, salads from the rest of perishable foods, cereals and a lot of chips averageCalories=-2033.9941 caloriesMax=1220.6498 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=10 totalStarvingPercentage=10 totalNormalHungerPercentage=79 totalExoPercentage=15 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=96 survivalTime=653.1609899383038 weight: sorry missed a screen shot but it was around 68 Sadly my char died in a horde so I couldn't test surviving on farming, foraging and trapping with keeping me well fed again.
  7. I guess it just needs a little bit more balancing based on players' testing reports. As far as I know the devs intended that you can live off agriculture, foraging, trapping and fishing.
  8. I had the same experiences in my last 2 playthroughs on 34.8 & 34.9 nutritiontest. RJ fixed it a lot but it could be that you are still not able to just rely on food gained by hunting, trapping, fishing, farming and foraging. The calories and hunger reduction values of home made soups, stews, stir fries and salads differ quite a lot from those of non-perishable foods like chips, cereals, mc cheese. Home made meals offer a high hunger reduction but relatively low calories wheras chips, cereals and other non-perishable foods have relatively low hunger reduction but high calories. Thus, you might not be able to eat enough soups to get enough calories cause you are well fed all the time. If I got it right the calories of cooked meals will be higher if you have a higher cooking skill now. However, I couldn't test if that stops weight loss later on cause my current char in 34.11 just survived one week.
  9. It's eye candy so I took my pictures in the candy shop: Old: New:
  10. From what I can see home made meals have a high hunger reduction value but low calories (e.g., stir fry with 6 ingredients about 80+ hunger reduction and about 240 calories). The maximum calories are limited cause you can add only 6 ingredients and there are only a few with higher calories like rabbit meat that can be gained by foraging, farming, trapping and fishing (but I didn't test fishing yet). However, the ratio of calories per hunger reduction is 4:1 and quite low compared to the ratio of chips with 48:1 or cereals with 59:1. So eating home made meals based on food that has been gathered by foraging, farming, trapping and fishing keeps you well fed for a long time which prevents you from eating more but doesn't supply you with enough calories to keep your weight. This could possibly be fixed by adding either more ingredients to the evolved recipes, having higher nutrition values for these kind of foods or reducing the amount of hunger reduction. At the moment this mechanic gives the player a wrong information about his physical state. Hunger is deep green but you are lacking calories all the time (I'm still not sure if I really get all the calories in one stir fry in my last playthroughs cause although I ate more and more the average calories decreased over time). Concerning weight loss there might be a mechanic missing in the calculation. There is a certain energy level your body need to function properly and it can be gained by 2 ways. Either by getting the energy from food (calories are just a measure for the energy your body will gain out of the food) or by using the energy stored in your body's fat cells (loosing weight). I assume that the amount of energy you get from weight loss is not taken into account when calculating the amount of calories needed per day cause energy and calories seem to be mixed up here. Edit: In short if I am loosing weight I don't need that much calories by food. Edit2: 1 gram of body fat delivers approximately 9 kcalories.
  11. Actually I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Although I ate high caloric food I would have expected a weight loss during the first month. I did not find the time to eat that regularly and was experiencing hunger from time to time. But after the first month of survival with a running farm and a lot of food I would have expected the weight loss to stop. But it even got worse. Does anybody else have tried to survive on a stir fry diet yet?
  12. I started a new game in 34.9 survival mode and carefully checked what I was eating with the final goal to live on farming, foraging and trapping as soon as possible. I had the same settings as in my previous 3 months 34.8 playthrough when I was loosing weight all the time. In the first two weeks I was eating what I found in fridges (steaks, pork shop) and I created some (meat) salads out of it or ate it cooked. Electricity shut down after 2 weeks and I ate a lot of foods (including 3 boxes of icecream) that was likely to rot without cooling. The next 14 days I survived by eating chips and other high caloric non-perishable foods. 1 months stats: Weight: 74.03 kg Fitness level 6: 1278 xp Strengths level 6: 3995 xp averageCalories=3559.2986 caloriesMax=3999.978 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=3 totalStarvingPercentage=22 totalNormalHungerPercentage=75 totalExoPercentage=21 totalSleepPercentage=0 totalNormalPercentage=97 survivalTime=723.8006747395848 Then I started to survive by only using farming, foraging and trapping. And since I broke my leg I could not do much running between months 1 and 2. I stayed well fed all the time and ate at least 3 meals with about 150-180 hunger reduction in total per day (stir fry made of bird/rabbit meat and various vegetables). Additionally, I ate berries and some small salads between the large meals. 1.5 months stats: Weight: 67.38 kg Fitness level 6: 1774 xp Strengths level 6: 5376 xp averageCalories=-731.28296 caloriesMax=3999.978 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=10 totalStarvingPercentage=7 totalNormalHungerPercentage=83 totalExoPercentage=21 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=87 survivalTime=1085.6727836731006 As you can see my average calories dropped dramatically from 3559 to -731 while my percentage of beeing well fed increased and the percentage of starving was reduced. This let me assume that actually stir fries, salads and other evolved recipes made out foods that were gained by farming and trapping have no calories at all. I continued staying well fed all the time and ate even up to 4 stear fries a day with 300 hunger reduction value in total but the average calories decreased even more: 2 months stats: Weight: 54.21 kg Fitness level 6: 2013 xp Strengths level 6: 6330 xp averageCalories=-1770.9153 caloriesMax=3999.978 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=29 totalStarvingPercentage=3 totalNormalHungerPercentage=67 totalExoPercentage=20 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=86 survivalTime=1488.7945965416438 2.5months stats: Weight: 44.97 kg Fitness level 6: 2146 xp Strengths level 6: 6587 xp averageCalories=-2602.2888 caloriesMax=3999.978 caloriesMin=-2800.0 totalFedPercentage=46 totalStarvingPercentage=0 totalNormalHungerPercentage=54 totalExoPercentage=11 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=90 survivalTime=1777.67467590273 I'm at month 3 now. My weight is only 35 kg and I'm starting to lose health. I'm afraid I am doomed to starve well fed. In summary: I am not sure how many stir fries I need to eat per day to prevent weight loss. But even when I ate 4 fries a day calories dropped and I couldn't eat more cause I was well fed. So I assume there are most likely bugs in the nutrition values of evolved recipes made out of vegetables you growed yourself.
  13. Well actually I live in the warehouse south of the center of Muldraugh. Right in the beginning I ate all the food found in fridges and stock up the non-perishables for the winter. However, I suffered from an early electricity shut down so I had to switch to farming, foraging and trapping. Since 4 weeks I am eating 1.5-2 stir-fries a day (bird/ rabbit meat and vegetables (cabbages, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, radish, mushrooms), each 75-110 hunger reduction). Additonally, I eat berries between the large meals if I got some from foraging. Usually I stay well fed all the time interrupted only by 1-2 days of loot runs within 14 days of survival. If I am on a loot run I just try to eat 3 times a day a portion of stir-fry with 40-50 hunger reduction. I'm also worried by that, and because calories is capped, weight loss/gain is also capped. What build do you use to live in the forest from day 1 and loose weight like this? If you're only "average" or less in foraging/fishing/trapping i won't bet on you for survival! But a full outdoor man should be able to survive yes, I'll try that tomorrow, if not I'll increase nutrition values for those foods. You already need less calories if you're underweight to start to loose weight, but I should increase that cap, so even if you're down to 50kg then you'll be stable, and develop your skills to start gaining weight again. I started the game with Build 34.8. I had a tough start with early electricity shut down so I had some hungry days till I managed to set up my safehouse, traps and a farm. After 1.5 months I started to try to gain weight back and I managed to get some weight with just eating a lot of food that I got by trapping, farming and foraging. I'm now loosing weight again. Currently I am at 32.5 kg. I just had one day when I was very hungry cause a horde delayed my retourn to my home. As you can see below I could increase the percentage of beeing well fed but the average calories dropped from 775 to -1070. And this is probably the reason for the weight loss I am experiencing now (3.5 months of survival). averageCalories=-1070.5956 caloriesMax=2946.7148 caloriesMin=-3500.0 totalFedPercentage=44 totalStarvingPercentage=0 totalNormalHungerPercentage=56 totalExoPercentage=15 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=88 survivalTime=2552.222505834594
  14. Another 14 days of survival in my approach to collect data from the beginning to the late game. I have survived 3 months now in survival mode and I could increase weight by 28 days of constantly eating. I literally spend most of the time with cooking, foraging, hunting and farming to stay well fed all the time and get some weight back. My weight is stable around 35 kg it seems I can't get higher with that diet but it is much better than the 29 kg 14 days ago. (see also the previous reports about 1.5 months and 2 months of survival. Further stats: averageCalories=775.3112 caloriesMax=2946.7148 caloriesMin=-3500.0 totalFedPercentage=43 totalStarvingPercentage=2 totalNormalHungerPercentage=55 totalExoPercentage=13 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=90 survivalTime=2231.7559553153114 And I also found a bug: If I eat some frozen ice cream it is replaced in the freezer by a box of melted icecream. So you can literally eat 2 box of icecream. And after the electricity shut down the food in the freezer never get unfreezed. My freezers are still in use although I have no electricity since 6 weeks now.
  15. I've played another 14 days with my character (see this post). I tried to survive with hunting, farming and foraging and since I constantly lost weight I tried to stay well fed during the last 14 days. However, I was still losing 10 kg during that time from 38.99kg at 1months and 18 days to 29.00kg at 2 months and 2 days. Now it seem to be stable. I definetly think the weight reduction should be lower. Further stats: averageCalories=-1368.5958 caloriesMax=1978.907 caloriesMin=-3500.0 totalFedPercentage=39 totalStarvingPercentage=1 totalNormalHungerPercentage=60 totalExoPercentage=12 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=92 survivalTime=1570.4018049277947
  16. I got skinny after 1 months of my current playthrough. It seems to be difficult to keep my weight or even gain weight. I started about 4 days ago with trying to eat a lot regularly and stay well fed all the time. But I'm still losing weight . I have a stir fry with bird meat and vegetables (cooked) a day and some extra berries and/or ice cream from time to time. Stats are the following: averageCalories=-3405.5762 caloriesMax=1235.544 caloriesMin=-3500.0 totalFedPercentage=7 totalStarvingPercentage=19 totalNormalHungerPercentage=74 totalExoPercentage=19 totalSleepPercentage=1 totalNormalPercentage=86 survivalTime=1159.4734146837727 Fitness level 6: 1518/30000 Strenghts level 6: 3740/30000
  17. I didn't used the organizer trait and items disappeared when transferring them into hiking bags. I haven't tested the new fix yet. But is this fix just tied to the "organizer trait" or does it fix other disappearing item issues too?
  18. I guess irl it depends on the amount of berries you have eaten, but I'm afraid you are dead. The third from the left is the right one.
  19. averageCalories=-1714.4888caloriesMax=799.97174caloriesMin=-3500.0totalFedPercentage=1totalStarvingPercentage=16totalNormalHungerPercentage=83totalExoPercentage=10totalSleepPercentage=1totalNormalPercentage=96survivalTime=173.50851164475898 I didn't run a lot just looting some houses and slash some zombies. I ate a lot of fruits in the first days, later I created some salad with meat (cooked rat) and different veggies. I also experienced a bug with disappearing nails and nail stuck don't exceed 99 if stored in a bar counter.
  20. I think it is fine for blueberries to be sometimes poisonous. It might not be that easy to identify blueberries in the woods. There are some similar looking ones and all of them are poisonous. But check for yourself: Just one of the pictures above show blueberries that are safe to eat.
  21. Try this tool: PZUnpacker. Happy New Year!
  22. I hate wet towels :/

  23. I was wondering what features the developers themselves miss most in PZ? And beside this: Will there be a way to dry towels in future?
  24. Let's check those places as soon as Luisville gots into the PZ map.
