  3. I LOVE rain when it's not storming. Mostly because of the scent....and the sound Who's your favorite Disney character and why?
  4. Ban Thatonesandwitch for having a name that makes me hungry.
  5. My roleplaying character Vesper again, now in a digital painting. ^^
  6. Why, certainly. - I used to collect dolphin themed items, but I don't anymore. - I have a patch of skin without pigmentation. Like I'm 1/167th albino. - Um...something about crochet. 7. Hehe, yeah, I thought about that too. It could be changed back to default, or something else. I don't mind. ^^
  8. I've decided to step down as head admin on the server and will instead be a regular player from now on. This is partly because I need to free up time for other projects, and because I miss playing the game, which I haven't had much time for in the last few months. I've left the server in the capable hands of admins Pann and SuperJack. I'll continue as a regular player, and occasional consultant. For more info please view the full news topic I posted on the community site. The current server has been closed and a new server will open in it's stead, and more info about this will be posted on the community site as well. This thread will probably close too, with a new thread opening when the new server is up. Thankyou to the awesome New Dawn community, to all the admins, and special thanks to the developers for making such an awesome game with such great roleplaying potential. I really look forward to roleplaying in the game again.
  9. The server is back up. We're not sure of the full extend of the damage yet, but it will take some maintenance before the server is back to normal. The reason no one could log in was because the port was changed back to it's original - please check the community site and/or first post to see the updated server info. There will be some changes in how we run things on the site as well, and some added measures for security. These updates will be posted soon in the news section of the forum.
  10. The server is still being attacked, and as most of you know it has been down for some days now. I'm working with Fragnet to try and counter these attacks. More info will be posted as I know more.
  11. Heya Body Builder, Everyone is welcome to make an application, we will give you feedback and let you know what you can improve in order to hopefully be accepted. Being an English speaking server, it is a requirement that you can communicate in and understand English - both so you can understand others, others can understand you, and so we know you understand the rules. As for the Sandbox options, we have zombie and item respawn set up (things respawn a bit too frequently right now, which we'll try to balance better for the next update ^^), the zombies are default setting except they have high toughness, and each day is I think 2 real life hours. As the requirements of the server change with an increasing player base, we're constantly balancing it and thus the sandbox settings are always subject to change.
  12. The server was recently the target of several large DDoS attacks. Fragnet has now moved the server to Sweden, resulting in an IP/Port change. The server info has been updated. Please check the latest news post on the topic in the community forum.
  13. The server is currently experiencing some issues where it won't let anyone connect even though it appears to be running as normal. I'll keep you guys posted as we try to fix this. Sorry for the inconvenience. UPDATE: Fixed now, but we had to run a Hard Reset. That's how it goes sometimes. But the server is now up again and everyone should be able to log in once more.
  14. I'd roll a coin. Who would win in what fight and how?
  15. The one that pays the host the most! How do I I become one of the cool kids?
  16. Star Citizen was actually my first thought when seeing the video for Identity. The two games seem alike in how they both aim for very high visual realism. And they're both incredibly pretty games. I've backed Star Citizen and had my fun sitting in my ship and making "vroom vroom" noises (yes, my ship makes those noises. Shut up.) before the arena module was out. I wasn't too fond of the arena module when it was first released, but I got hopes for the social module. I dunno, the game is just hugely nostalgic to me since I loved the Freelancer game and Star Citizen wants to potentially be the next step from there. But like with any other funding project, there's no saying if it will be realized the way the creators want/proclaim, or even at all. With backing there'll always be the chance that you're flushing your money down the toilet, so I can understand why people don't want to do it. At the same time I think it's an awesome opportunity for people who want to stay independent, are loyal to their creation and their backers, and know how to plan well even for when crap happens. If the Kickstarter for Identity had started say 2 or 3 years ago, I probably would have backed without blinking, despite finding it all a bit suspicious, since I love that kind of games, have always wanted to try them since my earliest gaming days, and am so psyched that anyone is making them. But right now, with games like Star Citizen, DayZ, and other semi-realistic be-there-yourself games, my corner is filled - we've reached a point where there's not just one, but a LOT of the games I always wanted to play. So I'm actually really happy, and I love Kickstarter and similar platforms for this possibility, even if you have to know how to dodge the dodgey ones, and take the hit when a project fails. So in short (this turned into a rant, sorry), I will keep an eye on where this is going, if nothing else then just out of my general curiosity in the market.
  17. Watches the video, looks very promising and also very high-quality graphics for a game that's only been in development a few months. And while I'm also really agreeing with the sentiment of MMO's having lost their way and becoming little more than repetitive rollercoaster rides, I'm wondering how they will force the roleplaying aspect of everything. How will they stop immersion breaking 14 year olds running around shouting penis at everything? I guess it could be monitored with admins and private servers, like they do in other roleplay-centric games, but yeah, I would like to know more about what they are planning for that before I put my cash there. I looked around but didn't really find an answer to that question. EDIT: Also, they say in the FAQ that "should we meet our goal here on Kickstarter, we'll have everything we need to ensure that Identity gets completed." But in the comments they also say this: "Sorry, I'll try to be a little more clear! Should we reach our goal of $150,000 here on Kickstarter, that won't be enough to develop the entire game but it will be what we need to begin fulltime development immediately. We have a few publishers who we're talking with now who can carry us the rest of the way, but ideally we'd love to be able to continue funding the project from crowd funding as it would give us more control. You're doing both, really. By backing us here and now you're getting the ball rolling and giving us everything we need to continue to completion." So, I'm guessing the Kickstarter money is to make enough of a prototype to approach and convince other funding options/seek more crowdfunding? Are they sure that those publishers they have contact with will carry them the rest of the way, and if so, why crowdfund at all? I dunno, I feel like I'm not entirely sure how they plan to spend the money and see this game finished. Maybe I missed something.
  18. Rules on base claiming updated. Oh! And we also hit over 400 members, all! Woo!
