  1. I've filled every cabinet in the house with non-perishable food from the scavenging runs I've been doing. But I avoid eating that where I can, instead keeping it as a source of emergency food. Mostly I subsist on the crops I've been growing (when they don't teleport away, at any rate, but that'll be fixed soon). And I avoid using sugar in soup because I've been saving it for use in my coffees and teas.
  2. Or at the very least, regularly changing and cleaning your clothing could be a way to boost happiness and prevent disease by making sure you're not wearing dirty blood stained clothing that's caked in grime.
  3. raw vegetables are fine to eat, man. You don't have to cook them. You're thinking of meats and rotten foods.
  4. Clothing durability is something that could easily come into place, and it would make the collection of more clothing for something other than bandages a good thing.
  5. I've always liked the idea of strapping a small explosive like firecrackers to an arrow and sending it flying off in a far away direction as a means to distracting zombies.
  6. Everything occurs in this thread. We're just pretending this takes place in the whole forum.
  7. I'd let the dinosaurs free so I could play the Most Dangerous Game while riding a velociraptor mount. On a scale of one to shag rug, how insane is the gas station attendant?
  8. "I'm King of the Forum!" Kajin shouts, standing triumphantly atop the forum... for about five seconds, until one of the players manages to sneak up behind him and tackle him back down to the bottom of the forum. Basically, it's a game of King of the Hill, except the goal is to make it to the top of the forum and stay there. Starting at the bottom of the forum in General Discussion, the players make their way all the way up to The Indie Stone Forums logo at the very top. Every turn, each player automatically moves up three levels (if you start in General Discussion, you move all the way up to PZ Modding). You are also allowed to attack any player who is up to one level away from you to try and send them back down to the bottom. (If you're in PZ Modding, you get to attack anyone in PZ Modding, PZ Suggestions, or PZ Community & Creativity). Conflict will be settled by die roll. The person with the highest roll wins. Defender wins ties, but must go down one level for every point of difference in the roll (if Defender rolled four and Attacker rolled five, Defender must go down one level.) If there is any difference in level, a one point height advantage goes to the player who is higher up in the forum. The King of the Forum has a two point defensive advantage for having the best defensive spot. Anyone wanna play? I think about ten players will do it.
  9. For some reason this thread has me thinking of that old game Stubbs the Zombie. No helpful input, unfortunately. Just feeling nostalgic now.
  10. What about the chance for infectious lung cysts that burst and expel infected material into the air? This would effectively make the infection a short range airborne contagion that had high risk of infecting other survivors. This would make NPC survivors who know about such a condition immediately hostile to the player. It could also extend itself in an after death effect that would cause the survivor to turn into a zombie whose lungs explode when it is killed, causing their chest to burst and spray infectious matter all over the area, making that area completely uninhabitable.
  11. And even then, the infection could still be there. Biding its time.. Waiting... Or maybe it's a slow burner? Maybe that particular zed was newly turned and didn't have enough of the infection in its mouth or fingernails to illicit an immediate reaction. So you get scratched, you heal, everything is hunky dory. Then, BAM! Zombification hits you like a sack of bricks.
  12. Also, I apologize if I sound or act crass. I'm operating on... about 35 hours of no sleep. I might be a tad cranky or hard to understand.
  13. If I must be honest, I like to think that the "Hard Mode" infection would still be what kills you, anyway. Instead of just taking you itself, though, it instead has the environment do it for you by greatly increasing the odds of death in any given situation. Wounds bleed more and require more bandages to stop. Dehydration increases far more quickly. Random chance to collapse from over exertion or lack of rest and letting the pursuing zombies catch up to you. This is something that WILL kill you. It just goes about it a different way, is all. It's why I named the thread "Ultra Hard Mode" instead of "Crybaby Kajin doesn't like to die huddled in a corner and weeping as he breathes his last"
  14. I just like the experience of survival, is all. This would give a perceived "chance", even where there is none to be had, But mostly I'm just a masochist and I think that doing it like this would be way more brutal. But like I said, I thought it would make a good sandbox addition for people who like to torture themselves, since the sandbox already allows you to modify the zombies so that they're not proper anyway. I understand that the devs are going for a "Classic Romero" vibe so an idea like this would stay the hell out of the main game.
  15. I tend to not bother looking through those as they're almost always empty for me. Garages and sheds are my "lowest of the low" on the list of looting priorities.
  16. Add an option in sandbox mode that turns the zombie infection from "Death Sentence" to "Ultra Hard Mode", or maybe add it as an addition to the resilience perk. Willing to admit it. I don't like the fact that a bite or a scratch has a random chance of killing you even if you survive the attack with most of your health. But I do like the idea of the zombie virus being a persistent infection that makes survival a great deal more difficult. With this sand box option, an infection from a bite could have all sorts of traumatizing effects that greatly increase the potential of death. rather than just flat out killing you. Possible Features: Every night you have a random chance of being completely bedridden and have to lie down to rest for a day or two, even though you know your supplies are so low you can't afford to be resting it off. Potentially worse in that this could happen while you're out scavenging and would be forced to spend the night inside of a broken down hovel with minimal defenses. It could also make you hungrier and thirstier, making you burn through supplies much more quickly than you otherwise would as your body tries desperately to fight off the infection. I understand the bleakness that the game is going for in using the Romero style zombies, but I think that it doesn't translate too well into a video game setting. Thus far, every time I get infected, I just drop all of my stuff into my safe house, barricade the front door, and drop a hammer on the ground so I can get back inside before I go off and run into the nearest horde so I can restart as quick as possible with a new character. But with the "Ultra Hard Mode" infection, I'd be more likely to continue playing my current survivor because there exists the possible chance that I could continue surviving, even though my odds are so drastically reduced I might not last a whole week. Note: The idea of this isn't immunity, or because I think that inevitable death is a cop out. This is something that WILL kill you. Just that it doesn't do that itself so much as it speeds things along a great deal. I think it'd make for great "bleak survivalist" atmosphere is all.
  17. The humble butter knife. I run around wearing an entire bandoleer of butter knives (and NOTHING else).
  18. Now that I think on it, a smokery would be an excellent addition to any implemented hunting system. But that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish for a whole 'nother time.
  19. I wouldn't want to play as a zombie, unless it's a multiplayer game of last-man-standing. Though I would approve of a zombie cam that lets you follow watch what your dead body does after it is newly risen. Especially if you were secretly infected and living with a group of fellow survivors. See what kind of damage your body does after it turns. Who put me down? How many people did I eat before that point? These are questions that need answers, people.
  20. I actually have a compost pile in rl. All you gotta remember about it is one part nitrogen (fresh plant scraps and grass clippings) to fifteen or more parts carbon (dry leaves, sawdust or mulch) IRREGARDLESS! Looking forward to the new build and revamped farming system!
  21. Try heading to any of the warehouses or the McCoy Logging Corp on the left side of the highway. Those buildings usually have a a whole lotta crates inside, significantly upping your odds for finding anything you're specifically looking for.they're usually the first place I go when I start a new game or head out on a supply run. I've found a dozen or so saws doing this, in fact. Now, if I could just find a hammer...
  22. The ability to process and can extra food for a much longer shelf life would be a great idea. As an added bonus, this is something that can easily be done by an individual person with the right equipment. All you'd need are some mason jars (easy to find), and a pressure cooker (sterilizing the food by cooking it and then using the heat to seal the jar so no bacteria can get at the sealed food). This would be a great addition to farming if it isn't already a planned feature, as it would give us a greater flexibility for using the foods we find and produce. (I checked to see if this is already planned, but I may have missed it). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_canning
