  1. I usually try to avoid zombies instead of going Rambo on them, but I think one time I had well over a thousand like two weeks into the game.
  2. ...Wait, is there some other setting? But in all seriousness, there should be some way to choose to be able to play a new character on a world where you died. Some players prefer it that way and it's also fun to share these world with other players and do stuff like this.
  3. What I mean is that PZ is supposed to be a hopeless story. That's also why a cure to the zombie virus is probably the biggest no-no on the suggestions list. Don't you think that a happyend for Kate and Baldspot (and now I don't mean finding the cure, just something like getting to a safezone that looks really promising) would give players unrealistic expectations? It's no secret that the devs WANT to kill you, preferably in the most painful ways possible and the faster the better. If a character survives for too long, it's usually attributed to the fact that the game is still not finished and certain things need to be updated and tweaked before we get the ultimate dieing experience.
  4. "There was no hope of survival. This is how you died..."
  5. I love the huge amount of zombies (for multiplayer standarts) and I don't mind the burnt down houses, I think that it adds to the atmosphere. My only problem so far was the general inactivity in the chat. I've yet to meet another person so I don't know how much RP does the server have, but I hope that the "hardcore" extends even to this aspect of the game. I actually joined this server because I thought that I would probably meet more people on a UK server (1 hour away from my time zone), but so far it hasn't worked out so well When are you guys usually online? Do you use the /all chat as a radio, or do you mostly just stay in secluded groups not meeting much with other people?
  6. Yes, it has to be on the outer side of the window. I'm not sure if it allowed me to climb inside, I haven't used this trick in a while, but I'm 100% positive that it works with zombies.
  7. You can build a bar element or a crate in front of a window, then zombies can't climb through but you can still see or hit through.
  8. That, and the fact that I know a few people who are/used to be vegetarians that don't mind eating animals that they personaly hunted. For them, it's a matter of giving the animal a fair chance, sort of a battle for survival between them and the animal. But still, there are some people who would get upset even if they personally hunted the animal. And don't forget that right now, our characters get unhappy from eating slightly stale food, that's not much of a difference from the suggested vegan/vegetarian trait.
  9. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that the player shouldn't be able to eat meat or other animal related products, I just think that it should make you unhappy. That works, right? If someone is a vegetarian because of animal abuse, they probably aren't going to be thrilled that they have to eat meat.
  10. I was reading The Walking Dead and wondering why are there no good zombie games that would simulate the survival experience, not just popping brains like there's no tomorrow. Soon after, I found out about the Telltale TWD game. I got it and it was amazing, but what I wanted was some sandboxy experience, a whole world for me to explore and die in. Finally, I desperately googled the best zombie games... And I found the best zombie game.
  11. The spears are not really meant to be used as effective weapons and the crafted axes (don't know about the hammers) always had terrible durability that allowed for chopping about 1 tree and starting on another one if you were lucky. Did you try taking the Repairman profession? Since we have so many new professions, we can finally start moving from cookie cutter builds to builds customized for our personal needs. This one gives a nice lvl 1 carpentry boost and lvl 2 in both blade and blunt maintanance, which should make your weapons and tools last much longer.
  12. But the hidden skills are actually represented by the traits. For example strength has weak (lvl 1), feeble (lvl 2), no trait (lvl 3), stout (lvl 4) and strong (lvl 5). You can gain/lose traits and I think that there was a bug in early build 31 that made it so that you burned the obese trait almost immediately.
  13. Variety. The reason why everyone is so excited about the new traits and professions. I think that this is a great idea. Having so many traits that you can basically make YOURSELF ingame is amazing, the only danger is that certain traits end up being useless and cookiecutter builds will prevail. But I don't think that I've seen any build (except for the adrenalin junkie build) being copypasted ever since 31 trait revamp, something that can't be said about the previous trait/profession system.
  14. The question is: when breaking into a house, do you just break the window and alert loads of zeds, or do your try to get in without making any noise? For me it's the latter, atleast when I play with zombies set on insane. Most vending machines are in completely overrun areas, making the noise even more dangerous. Also, implementing this would make wallets useful.
  15. Many people here claim that suicide shouldn't be implemented because it's a negative mechanic that the player can't control. I agree that you shouldn't, for example, randomly get injured while cooking, but I don't think that suicide falls under this category. While random injuries when doing certain tasks are, well, random, suicide would work as the final effect of a moodle progressively getting worse and worse, much like hunger, thirst, bleeding or fever. You have complete control over this-Don't wanna commict suicide? Don't let your character get bored, sad and finally depressed. And why would I like suicide to be implemented, what does it add to the game? I think that at the moment, events in the game don't have enough of an effect on the character's psyche. Since boredom and depression don't really do much, the character's encounters with the postapocalyptic world don't seem to have that much of a lasting impact.
  16. Cool, but I've got a protip for you: build a pillar on the corners of walls, makes it look much better. Also, being the PZ building aesthetic maniac that I am, I couldn't help but notice the building order on overlapping walls done wrong, making it seem like one of the walls if floating. Other than that, fricking impressive!
  17. I don't use this as the only metod of disposing of zombies, but I always carry a knife for use against runners. The only problem with this is how unreliable it is in multiplayer. There are servers where you can start stabbing when the zombie is like 2 meters away from you and you have like 50% chance of getting the timing just right. And even if you somehow can do this, lag can be incredibly lethal.
  18. God I love that base, the indoor tent and the overall messy design make it look very apocalypsesque, unlike the common "huge lvl 5 carpentry building in the middle of nowhere that would take a lifetime to build" look.
  19. I almost always use messy+chops (crazy scientist look ), but the Heisenberg combo is pretty cool too.
  20. 8 months after the apocalypse and maybe some adjustments on the zombies would indeed make it much more interesting!
  21. Scratched eight times, bitten three times? That's about 0,0000064% chance of survival. Thats 1 in 156250 chance. Let's say you manage to play one character per day. Under these conditions, it would take you approximately 428 years to survive against these odds. You might not get so lucky again in your whole life. Think about this before you go to sleep tonight.
  22. I agree, we need some more stuff that's less obvious than bleach and more deadly than poisonous berries (can they even be used as an ingredient?). The question is whether you can find a player who is desperate enough to eat a rat. A rat that they got from a suspiciously generous stranger.
  23. Sorry, but the idea of someone carrying a built tent over his head as a protection from rain is simply hilarious. The tarp we have ingame seems like a thick and heavy one, so absolutely unsuitable for anything else than a semi-permanent shelter. On the other hand, a great way to stay dry without having to carry around a whole tent is a poncho-style raincoat. I bought one from an army leftover materials shop (what do you even call these in english?) and it serves me really well. Once you decide to set up camp for the night, you just hang the raincoat between two trees like a tarp. It doesn't provide as much protection as a full tent, but it helped me stay dry during some nasty storms.
