    Ladders

The point is: Find a 2story building, destroy the stairs and you're pretty settled against Zeds and players. They can come in (up) when you leave the sheet rope hanging but without they would have to build stairs to get to you. Balanced ladders would counter this and open us new possibilities of moving around. Imagine you could lay down a ladder to cross a 1 or 2 wide gap between buildings and pick up again from the other side (last of us) Even if this is mostly my technique in mp I would like the addition of ladders.
  3. I became like you. Though, I really did enjoy its initial releases, where world terrain generation was rather fantastical.I'd mirror this sentiment as well. It was great fun in its novelty, but when that wore off and the terrain generator was homogenized and neutered my interest quickly dwindled. absolutly share this too... early versions had a much more interesting landscape. I loved the humble smp beginnings back then *nostalgia <3* when me and a few m8s build a huge detailed village into a kinda valley... ... ... *i'm away... wallowing in memories whilst beer, pizza and chips*
  4. Honestly - the already established player base is more than enough, wouldn't wonder if they really come up with dlc politics to get the ROI
  5. I'm wondering why nobody mentioned merchandise yet. Plushies, books about Redstone and so on... this is money gain even when everyone has the game. I think with Microsoft behind Mojang we "might" see more merchandise incoming. If this is a way to get merchandise out of a game, TIS get bought by MS and sell spiffos <3 (joke!)
  6. Would you mind getting more into detail, sounds interesting
  7. Which is true ... If the system simply limits us, i agree with you. If the system forces us to focus on one thing first and still leaves us the possibillity to max everything later if we survived long enough, i would like this idea. You have a goal to survive a specific amount of time, which for me would be another argument to play more. It would extend the gametime, limiting only rushing playstyles, since only them would greatly notice this barrier.
  8. If I was a game dev and someone was going to buy my company/IP for that amount, I would have no doubt about selling it. A wise man once said: Notch was the idol who made the early minecraft, meaning "classic" or "indev" early... but the recent additions came from the team behind him. He was clearly not that involved later, so it's good for him to say goodbye and make the path free for others to make "something" out of the Minecraft we now have. If Microsoft is the right partner for this? I honestly dont know yet, i liked the fact that Mojang was indie and not that focused on financial things. I already disliked the idea behind the extra skins for money on consoles... *dlc - sigh* If Microsoft pushes Minecraft or makes a Minecraft 2 with whatelse major additions - why not? If they make a money-making cow out of it, they will probably get a shitstorm thats pretty fucked up - but even then they will sell enough due "Minecraft" Label... 2,5 Billion -> 2,5Milliarden? Due long or short ladder system confussion, what exactly is meant?
  9. I know it's a skill cap, but would it be plausible if YOU just end up in above situation. Could you learn all skills within a week (ingame possible due not yet balanced XP gain and/or fast grinding mechanics) The cap should be high enough to not block you while focused on one or two skills, but limit your ability to just rush to all LVL5 and lose another source of "what to do". This is part of balancing I guess. It is arguably that I learn to build perfect walls/bars by barricading my window a thousand times. It's not time and age that makes us learn BUT influences on how much/fast we can learn - and that's realistic and real At least said something or what? This post is in no way productive (i dont count that minimum statement that he dislikes skill caps). *sigh*
  10. made this suggestion: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/10631-age-counts-into-ability-to-learn-more/ was inspired by this thread...
  11. Hey folks, while reading this -> Average Joe i came up with a idea i'm not sure about myself, but i wanted to share to see what you think about. Out of the discussion of above linked thread i came up with following: Why not factor the "Age time" (Survival time) in how many skills you can learn. Ok, so the shit hit the fan and i'm in this fucked up world with zombies on mass and me with everything around what i had before this, so probably generic stuff and nothing fancy. I can learn carpentry stuff or how to cook, firing a gun, reloading, fishing etc. I probably can even learn carpentry, cooking and maybe even fishing simultaneous... ...but i cant level everything with the same speed (Tried learning several other more in-depth things during your school or apprenticeship? You probably had a hard time, now factor a zombie apocalypse in there... thats what i mean) The idea is to limit the specialization we can achieve by spending skill points. Right after start i should prioritize on which skill to lvl first. 0s -> 1week: maybe one LVL3 Skill, or three LVL1 Skills -> a max. of 3 points spend... 1week -> 2weeks: LVL5 skill or more low level skills -> a max. of 5 points spend... and so on... hopefully this makes clear what i mean. The possible points i can spend should be dependant on how long i survived yet. We currently have this "overall lvl" which grants us skill points to spend, i dont know yet if/how to implement this in there... ...just came up with this and couldnt let this go unheard.
  12. Picking up the neoscavenger "scavenge" topic again: NeoScavenger has no "auto-pickup"! I think what "he" meant (some pages after 1.) that you see a "container" in the inventory screen (right side) like "Trees" / "tree stub" and right click it "Scavenge" which initiates the scavenging process and rewards with items picked from a specific drop list of that "scavenge place"...
  13. I'm into this too, makeshift gear should be much more common in a apocalypse
  14. Hmm, then this will be it for now... was a fun time with all of you - maybe we'll see us somewhere else
  15. From a technical POV it makes little to no difference if you just need a case, If you would like to travel with it (Lan party etc.) take the c70 as it's made for l it (steel only/handles) If you like led fans, the other has 2 white led fans. .. Make a choice based on optics between those two
  16. ME has made its own universe. It's full of different races (each with their own background/personality/motives) What me really made to believe this universe is it fleshed out history and somehow originality: Star Trek: a few races that look like human with makeup - dominant race: humans! Star Wars: mostly same as above with again humans as dominant race above all... In ME humans are a race which just began to discover the universe and row themselves into a already established galactical hierarchy, we're not the most in numbers, we're not that important from beginning just because we learned to travel across the universe, we're not right away part of the galactic leadership. .. It's about fighting for dominance (not as main story but within that story it's part of across all games) and taking role in that leadership, proving that we indeed have qualities. That and the fact the aliens look diverse and believable enough it's a great frame for a series like this game. Surely, every me had it own failures: ME1: slow gameplay, great story but incredible slow (imho) ME2: the resource grinding part you need for upgrades, well... it's grinding... ME3: some decisions from the past game were forced as there would be too much choices that you could end up in such different situations that a whole new game could be needed / the end, it's not that bad but it doesn't solve all problems or questions that came up - it's a bit like Harry potter films with the end being: bam, Harry grown up, bad defeated, there you go... (it's not that bad but there is MUCH potential let gone) What made it a sad game were the decisions you could make OR were forced to make. You have to crew members you played a fairly long time with, I liked both a lot but then you have to decide: which one survives, only one can... Or by not going to much into detail: can you erase a whole species from galaxy? Can you say which species is right when both of them have a good motive and background about their behavior? ME is about choices like this, which are sometimes trivial (maybe just in first place but your decision can have a lot greater impact later on, blocking maybe a entire quest line) or that hard like stated above. All in all a over the top recommendable game!
  17. No one mentioned Mass Effect or Dragon Age yet @.@ Mass effect trilogy is my personal best experience when it comes to emotional games... Over the period of playing you started to like / dislike some characters, you familiarized with them, thought about their motives. For my part I began to see them partly as "real persons" as there was made much work in characterize them... The decisions you could make where sometimes cruel for myself, I sometimes even needed a break from gaming to make my decisions. No other game was so immersive and believable in that way yet for me, even the novels are remarkable good! tl;dr: Buy the Bioware RPG's like MassEffect and DragonAge
  18. How pricey is the electricity in us? Since it's relative pricey here in Germany I won't choose a oversized psu anymore (had some in my past and got a terrible feeling right before the invoice came XD) Here it's around 0,25€ per kw/h (~0,33$)
  19. Uhh 750€ is $1000 USD. Plus that PSU looks sketchy as fuck and with only 430W? Nah bruh.Is $ that cheap?? O.o Sorry then, - the psu isn't that oversized since I don't want to oc and keep my rig running for downloads (it's more than enough btw. for that rig! Don't overestimate your power consumption always...)
  20. Most things that work for MC work for PZ too (java gc optimization) Have to check which we used on Picking up the pieces....
  21. What I bought (750€ - should be within your budget) Intel Core i5 4590 Boxed Alpenföhn Sella Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8,0 GByte Kit DDR3-1600 MSI R9 280 Gaming Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1,0 TByte Crucial MX100 128 GByte be Quiet Pure Power L8-CM 430 Watt I left out the case and any extras like dvd/blu-ray... This setup is fast/cheap - DayZ on max. Settings @1920x1080 runs around 50-70fps No games yet I had a problem with. As I have this rig near my bed and running during night I can say - it's really silent, pure "I don't know if it's Already running" silence! What I saw in your rig: you're missing a SSD?! Forgot it or don't want one?
  22. I bought a new gaming rig a few weeks ago and turned the sides after years of true "Nvidia only". I'm not saying you should listen but maybe at least reconsider: AMD made their homework and my MSI R9 280 twin frozr is running like a charm (i never thought I would recommend someone a AMD but maybe I mark this day in my calendar) Physx is btw something I honestly don't miss, the plus on performance without it is arguably better (imho) than the plus on physical correctness... But I really miss my good old bfg 8800gtx oc2 <3 if you read this - I still love you and sorry that I oc'd you to hell
  23. This reminds me of good old stalker games... *memories popping up* ...man, I loved it sitting next to a campfire listening to someone else playing guitar*memories disappearing again* This is something I never thought about in PZ but now that I know I love it
  24. Mine was from another "title thread" and thankfully it's about mass effect - since I'm a big fan and love mad villains (okeer was one to some degree) I'm perfectly fine with it <3 The second best thing could have been "for we are many" quote from legion
