    Hello.
First of all sry for my bad english. I dont know how to say it so I just call my suggestion "Pull the Rope".
So basically the idea behind "Pull the Rope" is to give us the opportunity to "Pull the Rope" x)
For instance you build your base in a house with two floors. You live in the 2nd floor and you destroy the stairs so zombies cant kill you. You enter your house via a rope from the window. So when you are inside you can pull up the rope so no one can climb it too. Its perfect for multiplayer against human invaders. Do you get it ?

    Hope you agree with me.

    Thank you

I'm personallly a fan of complicated (yet realistic) equipment - out of games that did that wall was NEO Scavenger, Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13 mod and Brigade E5/7.62 High Calibre games - in all these games you initially could only carry carry things in your hands and pockets (in NEO Scavenger you had to put some clothing with pockets on though ), the rest would come as a (back)packs in a similar fashion that what Zomboid have, although here packs only serve as a weight reduction mechanisms. I kinda like your idea of the inviteory too, though - seeing as weight is the only limiting factor in Zomboid, seeing it distributed evenly on two hands seems like a nice idea.
However, I think there are currently two things that are limiting any further inventory progression - 1. UI update and 2. the fact that currently weight system is bugged, and the only limiting factor now is 50 units of weight in the main inventory, and even that can be exploited to go beyond that, and a negative moodle that gently slows you down. But yet again, would be nice to have some dragging/transportation system for hauling stuff if that ever gets changed (pushing containers, shopping carts, wheelbarrows, sleds), especially for moving all that logs/planks.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Something was bothering me about inventory, but I couldn't place my hand on it.  There was a mechanical dissonance nagging me.

This might be an unpopular suggestion, but I think the inventory might need a tweak.  I think I would be more immersed if each hand also had an icon like the backpack icon; in other words they acted as containers.  They could hold 1/2 your carrying weight.  So if you can carry 12, you could put 6 in each hand.  If you equipped a weapon or item in a hand, then you automatically dropped everything in that hand.

You could then open up more containers on different clothing types, belts, bags, bags that attach to belts, backpacks, bags you can hold in hand, or maybe craft stuff to hook sacks onto belts or contraptions.
Everything would then be placed in containers.  They only thing in your main inventory will be what you wear and special items to help carry stuff. Potentially you could place what you are holding in your hands there as well.  Inventory ui might need to be reworked to show more contents in containers for quick transfers.

You could even get detailed enough that you can loop a plastic bag through your offhand and still keep it free radios, flashlights, etc.

This suggestion would open up immersion for stuff like utility belts that hold tools and give very fast transfer rates to your hands.
I think that would add to the immersion. What do you think? Good idea or too tedious for fun game play?

Since we now have flashlights, keys, radios, etc, I think it would be great to add a hip bubble where you could equip at least one item.

Anything that is equipped there will continue to work (like radio) or can be quickly transferred to your hands or slightly less quickly swapped with whatever is in your hand.

Or maybe we could have a utility belt...or..I am not sure how to implement this idea.

I just like the idea of having something on your hip, be it radio or flashlight that is quickly turned off and on, or being able to use your belt or craft a special belt that can hold a back up baseball bat or hammer to quickly exchange if your main tool/weapon breaks.  <---Dang that is my best run on sentence ever with an inordinate amount of "or"s.

Maybe a quick way to cylce through tools.

Maybe a hotkey can be set up to drop an item and equip what is in your "hip" bubble and/or another hot key that lets you swap item, albeit slower then dropping but quicker then searching in your bag.

It is just an idea in progress. There is nothing concrete in my mind.

That way our characters have more of a personality; otherwise we are just optimizing them.  It would make investing in our character and their made up story in my head more interesting.

Hey I'd like to make just a tiny suggestion for an alteration in the behaviour of the user interface currently. It won't take much doing but I feel it would improve the usability of the interface a bit.

Here is my proposal: Disable mouse-over opening of inventory tabs when Ctrl is depressed.

That way you can look around without having your inventory popping open, which I find incredibly irritating.

Would it be possible to make a container called a "Log Pile". It could have a greater than 50 unit storage, however it would only be able to store logs. There are already log assets at the logging yard, perhaps you could use those for the artwork?

Mapzoid is a little utility provided for the purposes of generating arbitrary, organic looking BMP files to use as the input for the WorldEd BMPtoTMX feature. It works alongside EasyPickins' Mapping Tools, hopefully fairly well.

It's currently in a fairly workable state, but I would appreciate some feedback, bug reports and general feature requests that anybody can think of. I'm personally not exactly swimming in spare time, but I will do what I can to fix any bugs or anything that may be raised.

I mean the title quite literally. It would be really cool to be able to find money in increments of, $1, $5, $10, $50, $100, and maybe the super rare $2.

They stack according to amount and weigh almost nothing, BUT you can use 10 bills of any combination to make kindling to start fires.

A cool end of the world scenario would be to show how useless money has become.  There would be nothing more sad to drive home this apocalypse then to be sitting around a firepit you started by burning 10 twenty dollar bills ($200) and eating dog food.

It would be a nice flare to highlight the breakdown of society and add to the general mood.

It would also give you something to put in the Bank vault with all the file cabinets, registers in restaurants, and in smaller amounts on zombies and in houses.  If you ever do steam achievements you could totally do a chain of achievements for how much money you either collected or destroyed.

I Think it would be a great idea to use the crafting skill to make some contraption made of planks, where you can hang raw meat, and cover it with salt so that it won't spoil, it will act as a container and would need a carpentry skill of about 2 points, and a cooking skill of 1 point (So that the player would logically know a way to not let the meat spoil), and to collect salt, you could get it from convenience store, or if you have 1 point in the fishing skill, you could get it from the salt water in the coast, where you could ''fry'' the water on a fire place with a bowl, to get both purified water and salt in 2 inventory spaces, so you would have another source of renewable water. Thanks for reading, and post more suggestions in the comments below

tosayu reacted to Rathlord in Mental Health Discussion Thread
    Heya guys,

I'm making this thread to discuss the future of mental health in PZ. Lemmy mentioned at one point that he wanted this in the game in some form or another, and so I wanted to take this space to post my thoughts on it and hear everyone elses'.

    So without further ado:

    Sanity

Introduces a sanity moodle to the game. There is no positive version of the sanity moodle, just a negative:

Imbalanced: You are shaken by the current events and have been physically affected by them.
You get a slight negative modifier to your interactions with NPC's You may occasionally hear small sounds that don't exist Unstable: You have been severely affected by the apocalypse, and it shows.
You have a negative modifier to interactions with NPC's You often hear sounds that don't exist You have trouble sleeping Insane: Your mental health is fully compromised.
You have a large negative modifier to interactions with NPC's You often hear sounds that don't exist You have trouble sleeping You occasionally see things that aren't there, including NPC's, loot, and zombies. These images are exactly like their real counterparts, but can have no effect on the player and disappear after a time. You talk to yourself sometimes, causing a small amount of sound You have a chance to be much more or much less susceptible to the panic moodle For short periods of time you won't see moodles that are affecting you With the introduction of insanity comes two new traits in the beginning of the game:

Strong Willed: Much more likely to stay sane, and stops at "Unstable," not able to become completely insane.
Unstable: Much more susceptible to insanity

And finally, things that effect your sanity:

Antidepressants: Help stave off insanity, but become addicting
Alcohol: Can temporarily stave off insanity, but long term increases it if addicted
Corpses: Nearby corpses negatively influence sanity (implemented after cleaning up corpses)
Home: Staying in the same house more than once increases sanity
    Cigarettes: Temporarily helps increase sanity
Losing a Companion: Losing a companion severely effects sanity
Becoming Injured: Being injured or sick decreases sanity

Nota Bene, the insanity effects are quite strong and should take a large amount of time to build up, particularly to the final stage. It should only become a problem if you neglect it or if you take the unstable trait.
