We're thinking of redecorating our kitten, but we live a while away.
Could I hit you up about shipping some of those flat-pack Manchester kitchens our way?

This is totally intended behaviour! The zombies are supposed to retain some basic pathfinding skills, but also be dumb and make mistakes. The zombies are working as intended. Some things in their behaviour will probably be tweaked going forward, but pathfinding.. probably not.
If you don't want them to find you, break line-of-sight. It's the only way. (Of course, the only way to be sure is to nuke them from orbit, but we can't do that, so.)

Most of them were answered on the old forums and unfortunately the links are dead. If you'd like more info just ask here and I'm more than happy to help. Woul appreciate if you wouldn't bring such a persistently negative attitude when you post here. Cheers.

Noted thank you. As far as "outdoor survival game" looking to get farther away from that. We want more zombies but a balance of taking out the threat of zombies and players. Trying to spin off of Battle Royal mode from H1Z1 but not in no way kill the Zomboid element. The main idea is to add more structure without taking much away.

Im sure this feature will eventually make it in, but it would be nice to hover mouse cursor above street signs and get a street name. This feature would come in really handy for multiplayer games

    these threads can get interesting.

IF it ever happens that a suppressor comes into the game, it is most likely to be introduced by a mod someone created.

sometimes it is best to do a quick forum search before starting a new thread, this topic comes up over and over, often winding up getting locked.

Realmkeeper reacted to bobchaos in Survival is not hard, but it's annoying.
@Googz Based on you latest replies, I can only assume that you want survival to be tweaked to suit your own play style only, but this is a large community and not all of us dream of farming in the middle of the city with hordes coming at us only when we please. I don't think there's any convincing you of any of that anyhow, so this will be my last post to this thread.

That said, here's something you should try that might make your games more entertaining for a while: adopt a nomad lifestyle. Sometimes I make a character and decide he's not allowed to sleep twice in the same location on any given week, for instance. Keeps things interesting.

Realmkeeper reacted to EnigmaGrey in Predicitive Difficulty
You described it; I didn't really have to myself.

With this sort of system, you inevetiably end up catering to the weaker player, then providing a singular difficulty throughout the game, because if it becomes too hard, the difficulty most be scaled back.

At some point you just got to accept there'll be people who don't like difficult games or aren't willing to put in the time to learn them. It'll happen even with a system such as the above, only it'll be "the game is too easy," or "the game makes itself too easy," if someone catches on. They're the same people that refuse to play anything other than Survival.

It is like that already? A lot of crafting is unavailable until you read a book, pick a profession or a trait.
But seriously, a campfire? I refuse to believe there are people on this planet that cannot compute that Sticks + Lighter = Warm fire. I refuse to believe that even people born and raised in huge cities who would otherwise die without having a Walmart close by, wouldn't know how to put up a basic campfire. Unless we're talking doing it without a lighter/matches. I can understand people making a campfire poorly as in, fire hazard over 9000 but come on...

To address EnigmaGrey's concerns, you could have an Advanced Stuff sandbox setting. I like the added challenges with looting that sifting through stuff creates as LewisDTC notes. Although I'd prefer items to have a range of usefulness - less useful to more useful. Nothing adds to the stress of looking through a cabinet of stuff like the sun setting and zombies approaching. "Oh shit, I got too greedy! I can barely move!"

On the other hand, I agree this would be a significant annoyance to large portion of players. I'm weird. I think mods will suffice though. As Hydro would probably attest, we need some crazy sprite making savant to join the community and literally make a sprite for everything that could possibly be found in Kentucky.

I'm only for the rare inclusion of junk mods (e.g. Spiffo plushy), otherwise inventory navigation and balancing of items becomes a bit of a pain.
Plates don't have to be useless (even though they don't exist): break one, wrap a shard in ducktape and earn yourself a poor quality / fragile knife, or give he player small happiness bonus when eating with one; use it as a makeshift cooking utensil .etc

Realmkeeper reacted to Rathlord in Hitting zombies with cars should make you loose velocity
That's not how physics works. Zombies are still a solid mass with weight roughly equivalent to that of a humans. At car travel speeds, it's not relevant whether the mass is "fragile" or not, which is why hitting a bunch of water bottles stacked together can easily total a car, or why falling into water from heights can be lethal. Cars get totaled every single day by deer that are roughly the same weight as human beings.

Edit: Source for collisions with deer, leading to hundreds of death a year and billions in property damage ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deer%E2%80%93vehicle_collisions )

Edit: Source for the deer most commonly found in the southern US, including their weight being considerably less than that of a human, on average ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-tailed_deer )

Was just thinking that it would be nice for a class, perhaps carpenter or engineer, to be able to remove an entire window pane leaving an empty hole in the wall where the window was.

I think this would be nice instead of having to break the window, remove the glass pieces, and then look at the horrible jagged frame pieces for the rest of it's existence.

Also this would tie into restoring windows if/when it is implemented. You could gather windows from other buildings to restore broken ones.

Realmkeeper reacted to Rathlord in Zombie Tactics an Behaviours
It's an interesting idea... one that might be neat for a mod. I'm not sure I could personally see this fitting in with 'vanilla' PZ, though, given what we can observe about the in-game lore.

Regarding zombies being in a pack, my understanding (and how it actually works in the game, essentially) is that zombies congregate not because of any instinct, but instead because they hear the sound from other zombies. This causes them to slowly, eventually form a horde.

It would make for a neat 'alternate' game mode mod, as well- instead of having zombies that are super fast or strong, you have them use duplicitous tactics.
