  1. try this: phpLiteAdmin just make ure that the linux user that runs the webserver (for me it´s www-data) has the needed rights to edit the database
  2. fixed. multiple server instances running = no fun
  3. Hey there, I just installed a brand new server on my vps .. its running fine but i cannot seem to connect. both installations (linux server and windows client) run on the same branch iwillbackupmysave # could someone try to connect and test it out if it works so I can narrow down the problem ? thx in advance
  4. yeah. point noted ad your right. them poor devs. always torn between realism and game value. too much realism tends to equal less fun playing. I mean it´s almost as managing the sims already with all thode moodles and stuff.
  5. i do agree that zombies and bodies should keep rotting. but body decomposition takes time. although not as long as I thought it would. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decomposition the pictures of the pig carcarss span a timeframe of 40 days.... so yeah, bodys should rot. but bones, sinew, clothes, etc should remain...
  6. I do understand the sentiment, but for me it feels almost too much like a apocalypse version of "the Sims" I would love the ability to loot / hang up posters, pictures and calendars though. the rest.. the bed I can understand..but an outhouse ? for what ? as aestatically pleasing gimmick ? if you have so much time building this kind of stuff, you have reached a point in game where some restart and up the ante
  7. the survival guide is not made up by kids. author max brroks is also the author of one of THE most cited products of zombie-lore: world war Z (much much better than the movie). what some people seem to forget is that the original romero zombie was not only a fictional horror entity, but also meant as a metaphor regarding modern society and fears of the average person during the time of the creation of those movies. also, never forget: it´s fiction. so even though it might sound implausible that "dead bodies reanimate and walk the earth", it works in that pictured universe. lightsabers are not boring are they ? would they work ? well if you can stop a laser beam from emitting further than a few feet from it´s source... good luck trying. anyways. the original zombies worked (and still work for so many people) is crtainly not based on biological or biochemical reasons. it is more the psychological stress. also their relentlessness. they keep on coming, no matter what you do. and destroying the brain seems to be the only thing that works to finally stop them. also. zombies dont jump over fences. the original lore zombies would basically walk through it or try to walk through it. but a fence would certainly not stop a zombie. the bad thing about zombies is the same that others already stated: one zombie on its own is not a real threat, once you can overcome the first shock and psychological implication that dead are not in fact dead at all but murderous automatons with unlimited powersupply. but its the fact that zombies are plentiful. and if you are bored by the PZ zombies: mod yourself some new ones. feel free to do so. it´s even what the devs propose and want us to do. it´s open and moddable. do that instead of complaining on a personal note @rikashey: ever since I read your thread "I WON PZ" or something like that, i get the feeling that most of your posts appear to be a tat negative... but of course, thats only my perception of things. if you are bored by the game, take some weeks / months off and come back after a couple of updates and releases. I am sure it will have changed a lot in that time.
  8. 2000kcal enough for average days work ? yeah, if you work in a cubicle typing memos. try that same diet working on a farm, killing hundreds of zombies with an axe or chopping wood the whole goddamn day. the average human body needs at least 1500kcal each day just to keep functioning. I agree that the whole food system , as great and fun it is with cooking and stuff, needs ...MORE the nutritional value of food items need to be reconsidered, as well as weight and portion sizes and the amount of food taken on each meal. (flour, milk, sugar , etc...) the great thing is: they are working on it. oh and to the guy that know´s someone who ate a whole pack of cerial for breakfast: ouch. how was hs digestion ? I hope he drank LOADS of water also
  9. wouldn´t that go against zombie lore ? a zombie does not eat to susatin, but out of instinct. it also feeds on living, fresh meat. they also seem to be able to distinguish between zombie carcass and not infected carcass. so: laying a trap with a living, but shackeld npc: yes laying a trap with a shackled and shot body of an npc: yes laying a trap with a zombie body: no, wouldn´t work. don´t know why but wouldn´t
  10. scythes -> make them crawl (of course currently crawlers are a pita, but with the right shoes and maybe shinguards (legguards for baseball would work very well) not a big problem... and the most powerful weapon in the zombie apocalypse: metal baseball bats especially youth bats, as they are light enough to be handled with one hand if must be, and generate enough force to easily clubber a skull in with one swing. also, a decent metal bat wont break from hitting skulls, they also have decent range. the fact that metal bats are lighter than wooden bats also makes them usefull. the weight you lose is made up by the fact that you can accelerate better. my choice: baseball bat (in part because i´ve been playing for 16 years so I think I could swing it somewhat well)
  11. well.. so if you up the difficulty and give zombies bloodhound smell, there´s no ingame counter to that other than killing them all until you get swarmed ? covering your base is not the ability to walk around among the undead and hide in plain sight. bleach as masking / cleaning of blood is also not exactly hygiene as in having to go to the toilet. people get sick walking around in guts and blood. so it certainly would fit in the game , at least from my perspective. and as long as you dont kill (which is a perfectly fine choice to play) you would never have to worry about getting blood-soaked and maybe sick from that. But I want to be able to clean my base, and clean my clothes and feel relieved when i am able to take a shower...
  12. I meant traits. *sigh* nitpicky are we not ? BUT.. I do believe that omnce you get certain experience, you will make less noise.. so why not more skills ? if they stick to the theme ?

    Mega Mall

    hell yes. very cool
  14. in SOD increasing loot speed also meant decrease of total amount of loot. but in SOD the total amount of loot available (locations and items to be found) is also significantly lower than in PZ. so... I like the idea. the base chance you make some noise should depend on -the items spawned and looted -the skill of the character plus a multipler of -container looted so searching through a wooden crte filled with nails and barbed wire maybe makes more noise than going through a bookshelf filled with books
  15. nice idea. look here: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/192-commonly-suggested-suggestions-read-before-posting/ its confirmed to be included somwhere down the line
  16. nice hut btw. where is that ? i mean where did you built that ?
  17. humans would probably do even nastier stuff if it prolongs their lives. the will to live is strong.. although a lot of people would also just take a bullet to the head if the dead start to rise... if only a pistol was available...
  18. in most lore I came across, zombies eat / try to eat all kind of living organism consitsting of meat, tendon, muscl and bone. plants they let go, rats and birds and deer and human they try to sink their teeth and fingernails into. so I think with hunting as planned and confirmed feature, zombies would walk after deer and rabbits and such. they would never get them of course, nevertheless they would keep trying. in the book world war Z (which s WAY better than the movie) they mention a zombie digging relentless into a sand dune only it saw a squirrel or something escape int the sand....it just kept digging... because nothing else got to ther attention... its the same instinct to move after something that was seen / smelled and heard and was alive that creates hordes... one zombie sees something and starts walking towards it. others follow because where he´s going something sure must be there... i mean he knows whats cooking right ? and eventually you have hundreds, if not thousands just walking, until they see / smell / hear something that is even more interesting...
  19. I will make a case for RP style servers. might sound drastic, but we we all saw (I Guess most PZ Players did at least) what tghe zombie apocalypse can do to people) what "the governor" did and what people in drastic situations change into.... when we have the chance to move bodies, not only should we be able to burn and / or bury them. but also to hang them, put them on stakes... etc. all the drastic stuff idiotic biker gangs would come to think of when they try to take over the last remains of the godforsaken hellhole
  20. hygiene - problems because of blood and bodies ?? +6 removing bodies, ability to clean up and such : +10 atomatic removal ? HELL NOOOOO
  21. whatever it was will smith used , I like the idea. not that it made any sense in the movie as the zombies there were obviously sentient and would not smell the "human scent, but bleacvh which might be suspicious anyways... but for the dumb zombies from PZ it actually makes perfect sense. as does taking a shower, washing etc. which I assume will be implemented down the line... +1 from me
