This isn't a zero-sum game. It's not Vehicles Or Animations. They're worked on by different people, different companies, in point of fact. Please just accept that we're still working on them as fast as we can, and calm down bugging us. If you continue, I will give you a formal warning. Giving an exact breakdown of current status isn't really feasible, these things run into odd roadblocks where you weren't expecting them, which slows things down. This is just a fact of programming.

I thought movement speed's pretty realistic right now, but we'll see, as it becomes nesc. May spread out the map a lil, but it's based on a real-world location, so only somuch can do.

Here, this link will provide the secrets you seek, my young padawan

Let's see what happens with vehicles first? They've gotta come out yet

Some people don't have the aptitude to code, even in Lua. Don't call them lazy. Don't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree.

They completed what the kickstarters backed, a tech demo. It unfortunately didn't gain enough funds to complete a game, nor did it receive sufficient publisher interest to gain funding for a full game. I'm not unhappy I backed Clang, they delivered what they promised. It didn't work out like we hoped, but kickstarter is exactly for allowing people to take risks and see if it'll work or not. The clang team definitely could've been better at communicating to their backers though, for sure, a mistake TIS has tried very hard not to make.

I have limited time, so I'm only going to touch on 2x. 2x will not be replaced again, 2x is "it" for the game's tiles. Animation and 3d models are for players and NPCs, not static objects. Players may have animations that act on static objects (picking up something), but the object itself is not going to be turned into a 3d model.

Info: Build 34 to 35 ‘not starting’ issue (VCRedist 2015)
Kirrus replied to Batsphinx's topic in PZ Updates
Are you running the beta build 36? -
You've not seen that we've had months and months of people complaining at us that the game isn't done yet. There's not a single mondoid now without a comment of 'NPCs?' or 'Animations?' on it. It's morale destroying just for the mod team (Hello!), let alone the devs working on the coalface.
-
The devs are using the methodology they are right now because a) It works and b) It's sustainable (Won't run out of money before game is finished) The devs have been very, very clear on the features that need to have landed before they call the game done. Those features aren't in yet. Therefore, the game isn't done, and it will receive full attention from team TIS.

It's a tool for the devs, which they've added to so it can be released for modders Maybe. We don't give ETAs anymore, remember?

An update is currently being processed, but it takes over a week of continuous runtime. It's quite a lot of computational work!

For the start issue, @Butter Bot may be able to help. For xmx and xms, open the .bat file in notepad, and then you can edit it. If you open notepad, and the .bat file location in file explorer, you can drag and drop the .bat into notepad, and it'll open. Or, right click on it, and click 'edit', which iirc should open it in notepad for you.

Aye, unfortunately, spammers went on a bit of a rampage, and we had to make the filters super aggressive. If anyone knows a better way to handle them, we'd be grateful!
-
Just the text 'numbur' is apparently enough to trigger the filter. Did you mean 'number'?
-
Ahh, yes, you definitely want to start it from the start server bat file. You can override how much ram it's using then
-
How're you starting it currently?
-
It means the server ran out of memory, trying to do too much. If you're starting it from the bat file, you should increase the values after -xmx and -xms
-
I asked our lord and master of the multiplayer server for you. For a hard reset, just delete the map/world files in the 'Zomboid' folder, in ~/Zomboid/saves/multiplayer/servertest Default server name is 'servertest' because.. that's what it was during testing, and it kinda stuck. For a soft reset, edit the start-server.sh script, and add -Dsoftreset after the xms and xmx values.

Video generation takes developer time away from working on features. Sometimes it's easy to throw a video together, in which case it's a higher priority. Other times.. it's incredibly painful, because a small but vital component of the game's core engine is under renovation.

This exactly Nothing is guaranteed in the first release, and animations are taking longer than everyone thought they would
