InMyRestlessDreamsISee
I Would love for them to use Cataclysm:DDA for inspiration in terms of traits. My favorites are far-sighted and near-sighted. I could also see traits like "fast reader", "skilled liar", "terrifying", optimistic", "asthmatic", "bad back", "chemical imbalance", "schizophrenic", trigger happy", truth teller" and "weak stomach" working very well in Zomboid both in terms of gameplay and giving the NPCs all unique personalities. For those who have sadly never heard of Cataclysm:DDA, you can find the list of traits and their effects here.http://www.wiki.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?title=Traits

The player cannot wear clothing made of wool. This does not affect the majority of the most useful clothing. Sounds more hardcore than Black Flag and Fugazi. Sadeyx
I started the list because I noticed there was a positive and negative for 'eating food'.. basically, 'requires more food' and 'requires less food.' But there isnt a negative and positive for thirst. I was looking for a negative thirst trait because water is abundant and freely available and wanted to make water more important. So each of my traits above has a postive and a negative version. So that you can customise a character by saying 'Ok, I want this character to be good at cooking for the group' In exchange you can pick a negative, like 'isnt good at being a medic' I'd go so far as to re-write the 'proffesions' into traits which would force you to pick a 'negative' but thats another topic

Sadeyx
Some of those could/should be Professions in the Character Creation menu rather than Traits. Yes they could! but I personally dont like the proffesion system. I think a more detailed trait system would provide more customisation and specialisation. For example 'Thick skinned' from construction worker could easily be made a trait, and the good thing about traits is that you cant have a benefit trait without having a negative trait. Its either that or the proffesions that exist now come packaged with some kind of negative effect as well. Again, using construction worker as an example, well a construction worker is used to handling heavy machinery and building materials, so may not be suital for delicate dextrous tasks like stitching a wound. So in my mind a construction worker should be as follows: + Thick Skinned+ Strong+ Weather resistant+ Blunt weapons- cooking- medical- hearty apetite- edged weapons or something like that.
