Updates on NPCs?

Have there been any since lemmy had a mini-breakdown about them last year?

 

Not asking for ETAs, just any mondoids or updates about them since 2015. I'll probably disappear and make this thread again next year if there's no information.

They've been pretty strict about releasing any information about the NPC system, I wouldn't expect them released this year.

I didn't ask that, just if there has been any updates since then? Anything at all.

Devs have learned the hard way that any talk about a system whose release isn't imminent only causes trouble.  There won't be any talk about NPCs unless they're the next feature to be released. So, no. They've not talked about NPCs since then.

Ah, that's a shame. Would be nice to have some progress updates, even if ETAs are off the menu. Thanks for the response though.

There has been a little bit said, at least:  One of the main things in the way of releasing NPCs was not having the animations updated yet.  With the animations installed (which seems like it might be in the next update or the one after it), there is one less major roadblock to full-fledged NPCs.  There has also been a lot of talk about how ambitious the AI system is and how Indie Stone wants to make them very complex. Hope that helps!
