  1. Rath, I did respond to your comments about snow. Almost four paragraphs worth. Read more? Pro Tip: If you're going to be a moderator, you should probably first learn to moderate yourself. A moderator keeps the peace. They don't threaten a ban on a user who points out contradictions while staying on-topic. /drops mic
  2. It sounds like those against snow are worried it will take the player out of the immersion, but Muldraugh does in fact receive snow. So the immersion would still be real. Just don't make it all Mother Russia snowy and there shouldn't be a problem. No one wants to play Project Snow Shoveling. We want to play Project Zomboid, but with a real sense of it being Winter when Winter does come around, ala snow. Also, I think not adding to a deeper experience in a zombie game because it's not 100% true to life is contradictory. A zombie game is itself not true to life. Video games should be, more than anything, fun.
  3. Statement One: - You made no reference to the amount of snow, or its impact on the player in your first post. Obvious reference is not so obvious. And I'm not trolling. Just pointing out the contradiction. Statement Two: - You're arguing against an unrealistic amount of snow even though it's not brought up as a suggestion in this thread once. Has it been suggested multiple times and that's why you came out swinging? Hell, the second post confirms the addition of snow yet you still respond with it being a silly add-on because of reality. But in reality Muldraugh gets snow. Not in the amounts you've been arguing against, but a reasonable one that has been suggested, and in which those silly devs will most likely implement.
  4. It's been mentioned that snow should be added to the Winter months, http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/2381-snow/, with which I agree, but I would also like to propose adding environmental changes based on every season. Spring - an abundance of flowers on the ground - increased wildlife activity (when wildlife gets added) - normal daylight hours - an increased amount of rain (april showers bring may flowers) Summer - a slight decline in flowers and animal activity - an increase in daylight hours - a heavy decrease in rain Fall - leaves start covering the ground - an even more decline of flowers and animal activity - an increase in rain from Summer - a decrease in daylight hours Winter - snow starts covering the ground - rare patch of flowers and animal activity - little to no rain - an even more decrease in daylight hours All this seems very possible with the 3Dification of PZ. "For each single texture, we could perhaps get another 200... Instead of, perhaps 5-10." from http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1844-iso-revolution/. /crosses fingers
  5. A reasonable suspension of disbelief is required when playing a game centered around surviving a zombie apocalypse. Zombies. Why would it be so far fetched having light snow in a place that gets an average of six inches? Which is still a decent amount. It would not only add to the atmosphere, but give the player a sense of place and time in the world. It could also add more risk when venturing out due to increased noise levels when walking in snow. Look at Don't Starve. Don't Starve lets the player know what time of year it is in many ways. One of them being environmental changes. This change adds a lot to the players state of mind. Your first Winter is horrifying. You don't know how long it will last. You don't know the best ways to stay warm. You don't even know if you'll have enough supplies to last you through Winter. And venturing out too far can be extremely dangerous. But that feeling you get when the snow starts to melt... Pure relief. A white Winter would add so much. Hell, seasonal changes all around would. Knowing what time of year it was based on flowers blooming or leaves falling. Vote for Seasonal Changes in Project Zomboid! paid for by the Seasonal Changes campaign
  6. After reading this, http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1844-iso-revolution/, it looks like dynamic shadows will be do-able. In particular the part where lemmy101 mentions Proper Lighting. PZ, when completely finished, will be one hell of a game!
  7. Why not just slow character movement by X amount if walking on an angled roof? Or add a crawling animation for when on angled roofs?
  8. I would argue that dynamic shadows are very important to the game, and could be fully adjustable for those players with extremely old PCs. PZ is all about a real-world scenario, albeit highly unlikely, in which the player is required to eat, and drink, and sleep, and manage just about every other real-life malady. Dynamic shadows would add so much more to that realism. I would also be very surprised if most players' PCs couldn't handle at least a "low" setting for these shadows. Even still, there can be an option to turn them off if their PC is more than 4-5 years old. That's the great thing about the PC Master Race, we can adjust settings to our liking.
  9. I would love to see shadows from clouds moving across the land. This could be used to warn the player of incoming storms, and would create a nice dynamic effect in general. Also, the passing of time could be made more apparent if shadows moved around with the time of day. Didn't find these suggestions in the search, so hopefully they're something worth considering in a future update.
