  1. Thank you for this. But I'm going to have a long long talk with myself about this. I'm building a huge fort and have made a lot of progress using only hard work. Perhaps this will feel like cheating. Yeah, I don't know, I'm torn. But big thanks for letting me know about your fantastic mod. Cheers.
  2. Is it possible to spawn in items in single player sandbox mode (via console perhaps?) If it's doable somehow, can someone please let me know?
  3. My two cents. I think the 3D model looks great. A little odd at first but you get used to it. Play with it for a couple of hours and then switch back again, and I'm sure the old sprite will feel funny instead. If you want to go 3D all the way that's fine. I can only see benefits in the long run. Are you guys even thinking real physics, or is that a big no no? The last couple of updates have really lifted my spirit. I'm starting to build up some hype again. If you can pull of the meta-stuff and the NPC-thing soon you will have a solid foundation to stand on. After rain comes the sun. Good job. And thanks.
  4. Any info on todays update (11,8mb)? Can't find any info, anywhere...
  5. Again, today's update (278kb), what needed updating? Anyone?
  6. Today's update (278kb), what's that about? Great work on the new release (23) as far as I can tell. And I can't tell you how happy I am to see a fix for the infamous building bugs. And the game seems to be running pretty damn good at the moment. Have only played for about 30 minutes so far, but things do look fine. Will give a full report if or when things start to break again (but please, no hurry there). And EasyPickins, it's really comforting to see your name in the mix. Keep up the good work. Things is starting to look promising again. A round of beer to you guys.
  7. Thanks. That sounds great. But how do you know for sure?
  8. Anyone care to answer? Simple yes or no will do. I have put the game on hold until this is sorted (going over 2 months now I think). So I'm hoping a fix is included here, but I can't tell if it is?
  9. Have you guys included a fix in this update for this problem: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/3609-when-building-flooring-disappears/ Changelog mentions this (is this the fix for the flooring?): - Squares along chunk boundaries were all marked as blocked in the NE or SW directions. Tracked this down after I saw some weird lighting on the ground near a streetlight. Probably affected pathfinding too.
  10. Is this bug (Flooring Disappears) included in this fix, mentioned in OP?
  11. Thanks nasKo, that helped. But lets go over this one more time and smack that last nail into (my head?) the coffin; so, right this instance there is nothing "new" here in the closed beta, and therefore there is really no need for us to be playing on that build, correct? And when you do in fact release something new here you will let us know, and tell us exactly what's new and what we should examine (and where to post the bug reports)? If this is true you should probably let people know in the OP, that this build serves no purpose at the moment and that they should stick to the regular beta for the time being. Because it seems people are going nuts here over them "new features" when there is in fact none. But beside all that, I'm intrigued. Hope this works out. But I'm a little bit worried about all the different builds, branches, betas, versions (and so on) that you have floating around. And this is yet another one to add to all that. Anyway, just a sidenote. I'm not complaining here. Cheers
  12. What do you mean? This version is no longer in use? And what's the difference between this closed beta and the normal beta? It's very confusing at the moment. If I understand this correctly, the password protected beta mentioned in OP, will include new features. But from what I can tell it's the same build? And they even share the same change log. It's a great idea, to let the community bug test the new features. But what's new in the password protected build? And what exactly do you need help with? Any particular area we should focus on? Because if it's just general bug hunting then it feels like double work since we already report bugs in the normal beta build - so again, what the difference between the two builds? For example, if you introduce NPC's here, then we will obviously report any bugs related to NPC's. Anyway, great idea but at the moment it all feels very confusing. But I will most definitely help you guys out, but please tell us more about what's going on here. And do we report bugs here in the thread, or do we use the bug section on the forum?
  13. i guess my point really is that although there are a multititude of small bugs....this game really only has a 'handful' of bugs that make it not be release worthy most of what i see on these forums bug report wise isnt really that game breaking, the devs have done a gr8 job so far and my point is that this game is soooo close to being full release level you can almost taste it lol and im very sure they can too. seriously its more a case of excitement and impatience tbh this game if done right over time and over sequels could be huge ie big league huge one day. just those last couple of important bugs and boom........oh and npcs When you say full release, what do you mean by that? And do you have a new price tag in mind? Do you want them to delete the "Early access" tag on Steam for example? Right now, I can't really see the point in declaring the game to be a full release. What will they gain from doing that?
  14. Yeah ok. But if people use a common name, as their username, you most certainly expect them to carry that name in real life as well. If you had chosen Charles de Gaulle, Joseph Guillotin or perhaps Zinedine Zidane, I could have guessed your French connection. But Robert Johnson (especially if you're not into blues music) could be anybody. Even you... Anyway, I hope you and I are cool now? Battle axes buried? Or how about a calumet pipe? And btw, I do understand french, to a degree. If you want to switch language in your notes.
  15. Some guys have blown this way out of proportion. When I wrote that post I had no idea whatsoever that you (RJ) were French. All I saw was your name, Robert Johnson, and it sounded very much English to me. I know (now) that your title says French Developer but I usually don't bother about peoples titles, signatures or profiles. But now I do know better and I'm really sorry if I have offended you - that was never my intention. Please take my word for it. I'm truly sorry for this. Like I told RoboMat in a PM yesterday: I do understand how you feel about this. See, I'm Swedish and I struggle trying to write in English as well, because it's hard, real hard. You have now changed the OP but before that I had some problems trying to understand it, hence me writing that post. My views haven't changed, but you have all missed my point (partly my own fault). I don't care about spelling or about grammar. I couldn't care less. As I said, I'm struggling myself as you all can probably tell by reading my post. But, I'm pretty certain you can all understand me, and that's the difference here. And that's because I take my time when writing, trying to correct mistakes, and trying to do the best I can. Sure, it takes a couple of minutes longer to type, but I think it's worth it. Your first post was all over the place, and quite hard to understand (not all of it!). Not because you lack knowledge in English, but because you just didn't take that extra time when typing. And that's the only thing I had a problem with - you not being able to get your point across. Forget about grammar and misspelled words, I make the same mistakes myself. Most English speaking people do. You are indie, and so you can't probably afford a lot of advertisement. So you really depend on people spreading the word to other gamers. And I do think it's important to have a clear dialogue with your fanbase, let them know what's going on, and make sure they can understand you. And I'm not only talking about the patch notes here. A game forum can impact how people feel about the actual game. Most problems, regarding indie games in general and early access in particular, rise when the developers forget (or stop all together) to communicate (Towns anyone?). I don't see that problem here (at the moment) but experience shows it's a common thing now days, when developers gets money up front, and then have a problem to motivate themselves to finish the game. They have already made a lot of money so why bother, some devs might think. So communicating is a big deal when trying to keep everyone happy. So, my first post was only a friendly reminder to keep it simple, and understandable. That's all there is to it really. But I'm really sorry if you felt insulted RJ. I really am. And I do appreciate everything you do in the coding area. Keep up the good work. And I do think you should allow some comments to this post here in the thread. But overall, people should get better at taking critique because that's the whole point with early access, to get feedback from users regarding the game and the development. You don't need an army with people agreeing with everything you are doing or saying. To iterate and go forward you need people questioning things, to get a new perspective on stuff. Best Wishes : TE
