I don't know if Korean characters are supported in the game now.
Probably not.
But hopefully it will someday and I want to get ready for that day so many other Koreans can enjoy the game as well.
The translation will be updated as time goes by.
I'm welcome to any suggestions or corrections.
 
아직 프로젝트 좀보이드는 한글을 지원 안하는 것으로 알고 있습니다.
그래도 우선 나중을 위해 미리 한글 번역 시작 합니다.

Hey,

 

You know how much symbol you use for Korean ?

 

For now we can't display chinese stuff because we have to read the characters with a file, and this file can't exced 1024x1024, and I need like 10 of this file for Chinese symbols...

 

Need to set up a new system for this, but yeah, if we can display every Korean symbols on a 1024x1024 image, we're golden :P

 

Can you send me a Korean font you usualy use ? (a basic one)

Nice to see your reply here.

I've been kind of caught up lately and the translation has been delayed for a bit.

 

Anyways, thx for your attention and "ingyermine" is a person I know from the Korean Zomboid community.

I hope that font works for you well, let me know if you need more assistance or have any questions.

 

FYI, Korean is more like alphabet or the Japanese Hiragana/Katagana.

So we have 24 consonants and 10 vowels that can be combined to 1 syllable.

I'll be done with the translation as well as the newly added contents within next week.

Hope your test runs well and man I love Zomboid. :)

Huh. I wish I can contribute, but it seems that most of the stuff is already finished...

But I see few problems in the translation. Is it okay if I correct out few of the inappropriate translations?

For example, you translated Radish to 무, but what Koreans usually call radish is actually Daikon. (Or Japanese Radish)

Actual radish, which is implemented in this game, is called 홍당무 in Korean.

Also, I think this is worth mentioning. Korean language has very different language structure, or grammar, compared to European languages. You just can't simply translate the vocabularies with definitions from dictionary. What you've done actually creates what Koreans call "왈도체," as example sentence would be like this:

 

"파괴한다, 펜스"

 

As you see, this is basically saying "Fence, breaking" in English. I don't have to explain that these sentence make little sense and is also confusing. So if Devs are looking at this forum, I would like to ask whether it is possible to change the sequence of the words.  

 

p.s. The word "왈도체"(Pronounced as Waldo-che (as in Che-Guevara) ) originates from one of the characters from Might and Magic 6. The Korean translation of that game was so bad that people could hardly understand what dialogue meant. However, some people found that weird sentence structure was funny, and they started used a quote from a character in game named Waldo as a meme.

Hello! you don't have to use Korean fonts. 

 

Standard Korean language encoding, or EUC-KR, use 2350 total images, which is I know, impossible to implement without some tweaks. If you devs are interested, there is a few method that can be used to save the hassle.

Actually, I think 1024 X 1024 is enough to include all the necessary Korean fonts in there unlike Chinese. I checked the font files, and figured out that minimum pixel required to have one distinct character is 12 X 12, which is more than enough to fit all the letters in EUC-KR chart. I can send devs the font I used if they want.

 

Anyways, I hope devs see this :(...
