Client Version does not match Server Version

Hi all,

 

First post so I apologise if this is in the wrong section etc.

 

I have had an ordeal with setting up a dedicated server which my friend and I are renting. 

 

We hired a server from gameservers.com in the hope that it will be quick and simple. He gave up and went to bed about 4 hours ago but I'm making some progress. 

 

Things that I have concluded/found out:

 

1) to use a server on Gameservers.com you need to run a NON steam client

2) rented servers currently do not show up on the public server list and therefore require direct connection

3) to update your server, you must install a mod that updates it via the admin page. This can take an hour or so.

 

I am now at the stage of pulling my hair out, as now when trying to directly connect I get the message:

 

Client Version 33.20 does not match server version early access 33.20

 

I think, if I can fix this issue I may actually get to play the game. Is it the "early access" bit that's the issue on the server side?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Fixed the issue.

 

If the server is showing version 33.20 early access, then it means it is on the test build.

 

Running the client in -no steam mode and in the beta build allows connection directly to the server.
