Steam version will not lanch

Hello i just made this account because after purchasing the game when i launch a black console pops up for about 2 seconds then nothing. I got java installed because someone else did that then it worked and tried re installing but still nothing. I'm not very confident with this sort of thing and don't know how to fix it, any help will be appreicated.

Unless you're on Linux, Java is bundled within the game. There's no way to install a different version.

Go to the installation directory of the game by right clicking on Project Zomboid and selecting Properties in the Steam game library then press the Browse Local Files button shown here: http://i.imgur.com/PFy0kmJ.png

While you have these options open, disable the Steam overlay in the General tab.

Find the ProjectZomboid32.bat file (blue gears for an icon, not a red and black egg) and double click it. Once (if) the game crashes, take a screenshot of the console and upload it to imgur.com, linking it here. This will hopefully tell us what's wrong. =)

You've selected an incompatible resolution. Go to %username%\zomboid and delete Options.ini to reset it to the default.
